A fantastic 3 nights break with friends at this lovely child friendly campsite.
Sarah and Gordon were fantastic and the little touches of sweets and fruit at reception, use of freezers to put ice packs in at no cost, fairy liquid at wash areas was brilliant.
The site is beautiful and even with rain at night has fantastic drainage. Hot water and clean showers.
The local pub is within walking distance if you don't want to cook at site. The children and the adults in our party had a fab weekend. We will be back.

A lovely site with good size pitches on firm well drained land. The toilets and showers were clean and well maintained with lighting provided at night. Hot water was provided for washing up, together with bowls, brushes and washing up liquid, great for first time campers. My family and I had a wonderful holiday on a safe and friendly site. Sarah and Gordon the managers were always available to help with queries and the children loved visiting Reception to either pick up a sweet or piece of fruit which were always available to all campers. It was so good, that even having been deluged in a flash flood, we are already planning our next years visit.

Wow, what a gem! Just spent two nights at this lovely, friendly site. A lot of hard work goes into making this site run very smoothly.
The portable loo toilets are kept very clean and are far better than most purpose built blocks elsewhere. Likewise the showers.
Handy and excellent pub with home made food less than 5 mins walk away. Plenty of walks around vicinity.
This was a last minute booking and we will return next year. The only downside is it open only 28 days a year, otherwise we would stay more often

We came to this campsite as the one we wanted was full. This had been recommended to use as a quiet peaceful place and it was for most of the time.
PROS
Good location for seeing the New Forest.
Wardens Sarah and Gordon were very friendly and patrolled the site often.
Even the half full, the site didn't feel crowded.
Sarah reminded campers in a friendly way of the no music policy and noise curfew and these were adhered to (although see CONS further down).
Chemical toilets always clean.
Free showers.
Pot washing areas.
Excellent recycling facilities.
BBQs allowed - off the ground, bricks provided.
Mobile shop selling fresh necessary staples at weekends.
Excellent pub with good beer and food staggering distance away.
Near Sandy Balls holiday park if that sort of thing appeals to you. (Shop, playgrounds, noisy bars, live entertainment etc)
CONS
Lots of pitches were on slopes, 'undulating' was the word Sarah used.
Showers seemed to run to luke warm very quickly.
No camp fires allowed although you could let your BBQ burn on.
No mobile shop on weekdays and shop at Sandy Balls a giant rip off.

Just visited this site for the May bank holiday. We were made very welcome on arrival and offered fruit and and sweets for the children. Campsite is basic but lovely and clean and tidy.
Do not be put off by the thought of portable loos and trailer type showers as the toilets were always clean with no smells and the showers were clean and hot!
Good washing up facilities as well. Would agree with the comments about the hard ground but we managed fine.
Site is in a lovely location for exploring the surrounding New Forest and lovely pub within walking distance always a good thing!

Just back from a wonderful weekend in the New Forest. Campsite site was great, Sarah really friendly and the site was so clean and well organised, with excellent showers & plenty of space on pitches. Perfect site for both families and couples. We liked the no noise after 11.30pm policy it worked really well and we slept very peacefully. The recycling facilities were excellent and great to see working really well. The location was perfect to do all we wanted to do in the Forest. Sarah gave us lots of help and information regarding local facilities, good pubs & bike hire etc. A mobile shop came to the site every morning, great for milk, bread, papers and other bits & bobs. We will definitely be back next year, can't wait!

One of those rare sites - basic, but beautifully cared for. The warden of the site stays on the site 24 hours and offers her mobile number for 24 hours contact.
Everything is spotlessly clean, with a very friendly and supportive approach. Like many other sites, there is a no noise policy after a certain hour, but the difference here is this is actively upheld by the warden if need be. With young children, this is most welcome and appreciated.
The location is ideal as a New Forest touring base and there is a very handy pub a stone's throw away, with great food.
All in all - thoroughly recommended

Excellent location, right on the edge of the New Forest, a huge advantage if you have a pony mad daughter of 11 who's not quite sure that she's going to like her first camping holiday!
We chose this site because it appeared to be a simple quiet site with plenty of space for the children to play and free from all the extras like cafeterias, pubs, supermarkets / laundries etc. In essence we were looking for somewhere where camping would be like it used to be a few years ago!
Chapelfield met our requirements extremely well and we had a great five nights there. Sarah manages the site in a friendly and professional manner with thoughtful little touches which give a very good impression. The facilities are relatively basic but clean and entirely adequate. The pitches are of a good size and well laid out. The policy of no music and complete quiet after 11.30 is very well suited to the character of the site and, at least when we were there, well observed.
If,as we were, you're looking for a simple rural site in a lovely location which is well run, clean, and peaceful when it needs to be,then we would highly recommend Chapelfield. We will return at some point I'm sure.

Came to this one after our usual site was fully booked. First problem was that our metal tent pegs would not go into the rock-solid ground so we had to hire out rock pegs - do not come to this site without Rock Pegs!
Second problem, we were right next to the portaloos and despite there being notices about not slamming the doors, everyone appeared to ignore these and continuously slammed the doors even during the middle of the night, therefore ensure you request a pitch well away from the loos.
It also has a noise policy but both nights this was ignored by a group of campers well past 1.30am.
However, the location of the site was good and we managed to cycle a few miles to get onto the actual cycle trails in the forest. There is also a daily mobile shop that visits the site every morning and the campsite host Sarah, is always available if you have any problems!

I saw some of the reviews from 2009 and felt open minded about the site. On arrival was very happy with the organisation of the site and found the toilets and showers very clean.
The two guys and Sarah were polite and helpful. The site was clean and everyone was friendly. The only thing I would suggest is to buy some heavy duty tent pegs due to hard ground. As the other review states 'pegs were available for a small deposit.' Which was handy for me. Very easy to find and in an excellent location.
Must just point out, the Pub served a smashing Roast Beef dinner! Give both the Campsite and the Pub a try and I'm sure you will enjoy it as much as my girlfriend and I. Well done Sarah and buddies for what was an enjoyable relaxing stay. (pitch 5)!
