 We were self-contained camper but used the very clean toilets.
The site was busy with families having fun.
It was a very friendly atmosphere, child and dog friendly and there was some dog training circuit being run.
The reception lady was both very helpful over the phone and on arrival.
We would be happy to stay again and recommend.

This is a large site, but with separate areas to accommodate groups. We've stayed three times now, in the field closest to the Downs, with great views to Chanctonbury Ring.
It's a great location for exploring the surrounding area, either by car or on foot from the site, and there's a lovely pub in the village which is very reasonably priced.
Ownership changed in recent years, and the current (very friendly and accommodating) owners are investing in upgrading the facilities.
As of this year, our caravan pitches each had their own tap, which is extremely convenient.

The site has recently been taken over by younger family members and you can see signs of old/outdated and new.
We liked the site- lots of different areas to camp in including lots of space for tents/ off the grid. Toilet block in Japanese garden area spotless as was main block - which was also spacious but dated. The site has a pretty stream running through with lots of climbing and swinging opportunities for older kids who loved it!
Walks all around with ponds and woods and huge field to explore too, pizza van and breakfast van arrived which we didn’t use, log pit hire which we did! Def silence by 11 and very little road noise in eve but present in the day time. However for us it’s such a local site we didn’t care vs convenience!
Pub over the road was well rated- would go back and try the pub! Only real let down was season pitches as you drive in - which looked dated as with many seasonal ones… hopefully new owners will address in some way.

This is one of several visits to this beautiful site. Well it exceeded expectations tonight. Wood fired pizza van turned up. Fresh dough plenty of choice. Great news no cooking.
The owners the wildlife I've seen kingfishers several types of ducks moorhen and geese waddling through camp flying over and in the pond. Great for walking dogs massive field so dogs can have a good free run. Very pretty well run site.

We had read previous reviews before camping here and are seasoned family campers looking for one last break at the end of the school holidays.
We were disappointed by this campsite.
It is situated next to a very busy dual carriageway and roundabout. The road noise was constant and loud. Also it is next to a sand quarry with loud excavator equipment. Not a quiet country idyl. I slept with ear plugs and could still hear it.
The toilet block is very poor. The toilets do not have regular toilet seats. Instead there are narrow ridges of wood screwed onto the toilet rims, reminiscent of outdoor toilets at my primary school in the 1970s. Very uncomfortable. Also the Swiss chalet that houses the toilets has seen better days. I nearly put my foot through the wooden veranda that you walk across to reach the entrance.
The owner does not come into the field to supervise. 3 mums brought a group of teenage girls to have a loud party, as if none of the rest of the campers would mind!
A large scary dog belonging to a neighbouring farm broke into the campsite.
The positives: We had lots of room to pitch in.
There are plenty of wooden picnic tables that you can move to your pitch. Also some concrete bbq stations by some pitches, and some stones and tiles to put under bbqs elsewhere. There is also a communal fire pit with some large logs provided.
There is beautiful countryside, which can be seen from the campsite.
I can see that it would be a convenient stopover if you are walking the South Downs Way.
We will not be returning.

In June, we hiked/camped along the South Downs Way, and Washington Caravan & Camping Park was among our planned stops. We had walked more than 13 miles that day and we were tired! We found the camping park with no trouble!
First, however, we happened on a very nice pub, had a beer, reserved a table for the evening meal, and with their advice, walked just a little further to the camping park. We were struck with how close it was to town and the pub (very nice!), as we had wanted to collect our backpacks from the camping office (they had been transported that day), check in, and set up our tent early so we could later come back and rest for the next day. E
VERYTHING was just as we had hoped! The office was open, our backpacks were there and easy to spot, Nigel (with whom I had conversed from the US in reserving the space prior to the trip) was there and very helpful in terms of showing us the many places we could select to pitch our tent. He introduced us to some people who were staying in the next space (who were so friendly), and they let us have the space one of their friends would be using the night after (it was reserved) because we were only staying one evening and would be out very early in the morning.
While we were resting in the tent, our neighbors brought over a picnic table for us to use -- such extremely helpful and nice people! Nigel showed us the shower and toilet block -- beautifully maintained and spotless! I later heard from our neighbors that Nigel, earlier in his life, had managed some very top hotels. So it was clear that his sense of hospitality, order and cleanliness was longstanding!
The surrounding area was absolutely beautiful! Green hills, trees, peacefulness. After taking lots of photos (!), we walked to dinner at the pub (such nice people). The food was great, and people eating there had the choice of sitting outside at tables or sitting inside. The weather was lovely, and many people were sitting outside with their dogs, etc. We stayed for several hours, having dinner and dessert (sticky toffee pudding!).
We then headed for home (our tent), conversed with our neighbors a little, and went to sleep. The campsite was quiet, making it easy to go to sleep and rest well. The next morning, we very quietly arose and packed our tent and belongings. Our neighbors made tea and offered a cup to me! After having a quick breakfast, we took our pack to the camp office (we had arranged the night before to meet Nigel at a particular time to hand off our backpacks). He was there, waiting.
I will never forget staying at Washington Caravan & Camping Park. The beauty, cleanliness, proximity to town and GREAT food, friendly people, Nigel! -- all made it memorable and repeatable! A great stay!

Site, plenty of open space, free pitching with high trees surrounding the site. Some elevated van/tent pitching areas on terraced area. Hard standing for vans with some seasonal.
Facilities, half dozen hot/cold sinks. 4 shower rooms (20p for around 4 mins) but shower heads high in ceiling and nonadjustable. Washing machine (£2) and tumble dryer (£1). Freezer for blocks available. Hot drinks vending also available (40p). Toilets ample but lights are motion sensitive and can feel claustrophobic as dark stained wood. (think sitting in wardrobe). Ample sinks available.
All are accessible but not dedicated.
Area. About 3 miles to storrington - hourly bus service. Car parks are by voucher only not pay and display. Vouchers availabel at shops indicated on car park boards.
Hidden (not accessible) footpath follows stream and quarry fence line, .
Atmosphere. Bonfire area, no children's facilities but several chldren were playing rounders, football or trying to fly kites. Several bbq areas or blocks for bbqs around. No open fires apart from the bonfire area. Astounding views across the trees to the south downs. Very close to A24 but road noise is very dull rumble except if speedy gonzales comes past on his moped.
Warden, very friendly, team always around emptying the numerous bins and recycling points.
Down points.
Website is not tablet/phone friendly. The pricing structure is unit + (number of ) adults + car. Eg one adult + tent+car is £15 per night. Best to ring and get quote before turning up.

This is our campsite of choice for the odd 2 or 3 nighter camping trip that we like to get in when we can. The ablutions are clean and well maintained. The little stream at the bottom of the site offers constant entertainment for our children.
The site is ideally located for some good walks. There is a Tesco about 10 mins drive away. Best of all, there is a big bonfire pit, which is such a big plus for us as a family. A suggestion for improvement: a child's play area would be good, just some swings and a slide, something simple.
The old man who runs the place is always friendly and couldn't be more helpful, even providing us with tent pegs when we forgot ours once. Judging by other reviews I see some people are concerned about the lack of booking, but we have always managed to get a good pitch and an electrical one at that.
We appreciate that the site doesn't try to go in for charging for 'extras' as others sometimes do, i. E. Day visitors don't need to pay etc. Overall, a pleasant, well run and well maintained campsite.

During quiet periods this is a nice site with well kept grass, clean toilet / shower / washing up block and a nice outlook. No facilities for children, there isn't even a low sink that a small child could reach or a shower that isn't fixed directly overhead.
The location makes it easy to explore the surrounding beaches and countryside by car but there is no shop nearby so bring the essentials with you. The caravan, hookup area has only a small patch of grass in front of each unit but the tent area is sheltered, informal and pretty.
I've just returned from an overnight stay on what is probably the busiest weekend of the year combined with perfect camping weather. The result was a nightmare. All was ok when we arrived early in the morning and set up the tent - I honestly thought we'd found the last space. When we returned later in the afternoon the place was chaos. They were just allowing anyone who arrived to set up if they could find a spot no matter how close to other units.
New arrivals were even coming on to the site after 10pm and driving around in the dark trying to find room. The facilities were overwhelmed with long queues for the showers and washing up sinks - I just gave up, went without a shower and took the dirty breakfast dishes home. Unfortunately there were also some large groups and loud drunken noise went on until around 1am despite the rule that there should be silence after 11:30. The owner who lives on site had no interest in sorting this out.
I would return to this site out of high season but on a sunny summer weekend? Never again.

This was a wonderful site and brilliantly located to explore the South Downs and surrounding area. Staff working there were very professional, friendly and facilities were kept in tip top condition.
The shower and toilet block were kept clean and the laundry facilities were great. In need of a bit of modernisation but fully functioning nonetheless. The view of the hills when you wake up in the morning is stunning and the park is very large with plenty of pitches for tents and caravans, and room for playing sports.
I will definitely come back! Having WiFi would be beneficial too as most sites offer this these days.
