This was a hot bank holiday weekend at the end of a rainy summer so you can't really blame him, but the owner of this site packed us in so tightly that you could barely walk around the site, let alone get your car in or out. It was very noisy at night due to other campers and also the traffic on the A24 which is right next door.
On the plus side, it's a beautiful spot and the facilities are fantastic - clean and made of wood with a kind of Swedish feel to them. I recommend this site on a quiet weekend. There are some lovely walks nearby and a nice pub with decent food.

My sister and I camped here for 2 nights and we will definitely be staying there again at a later date. We had some difficulty erecting our tent, so we called for one of the members on staff for help, which he did with a smile. The weather had been very bad with heavy rain, but our pitch was not bogged down at all. The shower/toilet block was very clean at all times, if you are an early riser you may have to queue for the showers(20p for 4 mins) but we choose to have breakfast before having ours. The light in the cubicle was activated at the same time as the water and there wasn't a way of turning off the water once you slotted in your money, so i'd suggest you undress before slotting any money in. There is a plug socket in the toilet handy for hairdryers or straightners. There is a fridge/freezer availble to store your food and/or ice packs in, free of charge, this was pretty full most of the time but we did pick the 1st weekend of the 6 weeks holidays so we did expect it to be busy. Also a hot drinks machine, 40p for a coffee.
As there is no pub or shop on the site we went for a walk off site and came across a lovely pub 5 mins walk away, it was a little on the pricely side for some things but they do have a resonable pub menu and also a take away pizza menu. We drove to Storrington for our food shopping as they have a sSmerfield there. With lovely views and friendly staff this really does make a very enjoyable stay if you are tenting.

When we arrived on a Thursday there were about 20 caravans on terraces, each pitch with its own electricity and waste water disposal. We paid for electricity by meter and we used less than 50p per day. The terraces were a good idea but we felt the caravans were too close. We had a hardstanding for the caravan and a small area of grass which was adequate only for our little porch awning. A few pitches had more space. When we arrived there were only 4 tents on the huge tent field. By Friday night there were about 30 tents and by Saturday evening there were 70+. However on Sunday morning dozens of back packers were seen leaving and by Sunday evening the tent field was back to 4 tents. There are only 4 showers, giving 5 or 10 minutes of hot water and hot air for 20p. As early risers we never had to queue for a shower. The shower cubicles were big enough for a family with seats or benches and plenty of hooks. There was no way of turning off the water which was a waste of water and energy but the hot blown air was welcome on cold wet mornings. Even over the weekend the showers and toilets were immaculate. There are about 6 toilets and basins, spotless and with liquid soap and hand dryers. There is a separate room with dish washing facilities and a washing machine and dryer but no out door drying area. There was always plenty of hot water. The owner and two site stewards were very helpful and hardworking, keeping the facilities spotless and in good working order. The grass was mown and the flower beds well looked after. There is no children's play area but plenty of room for cricket etc. We soon got used to the noise from 2 main roads but the noise from workers leaving the site as early as 6.30am was rather unwelcome. There were 3 early leavers close to our caravan. I think the owner should ask them to park in the area near reception. There is no shop on site now but the owner sells lovely fresh eggs. There are shops in nearby Steyening and Storrington. For days out there are dozens of stately homes, castles, gardens, iron age rings, seaside resorts and museums and walking on the nearby downs. In conclusion we would recommend this site.

One of the loveliest hosts I've met, a really nice guy. Beautiful wooden toilet and shower block with a gently sloping field and a small stream running around the perimeter. Various picnic benches and places to BBQ scattered around the site and a communal campfire area - you can't have a fire by your tent or caravan [that's the only downside]. A lovely, lovely place situated near some lovely villages and really close to Brighton [apparently a return taxi costs £90 if you fancy a night on the tiles!]

We stayed for a couple of nights and found this campsite to be everything we wanted. The pitch we had was hard standing with plenty of room for an awning. There was a large neat grassed area right in front of us where tents could be pitched. It was well maintained, peaceful, un-commercialised, beautifully clean showers, toilets, washing up area. The owner was so friendly and helpful, we couldn't have asked for more. The local pub was 5 minutes away and served real ale and decent pub food.

This is a bit of a curious one. I visited just as the school holidays were beginning for 4 nights Fri- Tues. On Friday night they had literally fenced off an area for me so we could use the electric hook-up which I thought was very good of them. I duly pitched the tent and watched with growing worry as the site got more and more full. I was truly hemmed in and there was little room between outfits, certainly no room to park the car. I thought the queue for the 4 showers (unisex) was going to be horrendous, as it happens it wasn't too bad. At least, I thought, that would be it but on Saturday even more people turned up! 11.30 pm and customers were still arriving to pitch their tents. They don't have a booking system for tents (unless you want the electric) and seemed to take their eye off whether there was room or not in the field. Saturday night was ghastly, with no room to swing the proverbial feline! Then on Sunday people started leaving in their droves and the site turned into this haven of peace and quiet. Any noise from the nearby roads went unnoticed and their was very little light pollution so the night skies were awesome. They allow campfires, as long as they are raised off the ground as are BBQs. The staff were friendly particularly Ben (?) who ran around all over the place to make sure things were ok. The owner comes and chats in his golf buggy which was nice. I would go back to this site but not on a weekend when the weather is baking hot and the schools have just kicked out. 6/10

One of the best sites I've stayed at in the country. Despite being close to two A roads, the location of the site shields it from the sound of the traffic. The staff are very friendly and accomodating. Fantastic not having to book in (unless you're planning to camp there over a bank holiday weekend).
Great proximity to the South Downs - rolling hills and lots of woodland. The South Downs Way is within easy reach of the campsite so a great place to stay if you enjoy walking or cycling. The site is 20 minutes or so from the sea and there are plenty of places to eat and drink in the area close by. The Weald and Downland Open Air Museum is nearby and well worth a visit.
9/10!

May 2004 Small campsite in lovely surroundings. The facilities are basic but very clean with plenty of hot water. The field is sloping but several flat pitches at the bottom and some terraced into the hill. Only minus points for me was that there was no play area to amuse the children although they could kick a ball and play swingball around the front of the tent and no baby changing facilites in the toilets. Also the sound of the nearby main road and the planes from the Gatwick flight path just took away that rural feeling (hopefully it drowned the noise my kids made on waking early!). Would however recommend the site.

1997 and 2000 A small friendly site with LEVEL tent pitches on a sloping site. Excellent clean facilities and friendly staff.
There is a small shop that has the essentials.
The site is within easy distance from the South coast and many attractions in the vicinity.
