Our first visit to this site. Super service pitch enormous. Very pleased as previous reviews indicated was quite cramped. Now has been refurbished with more space between pitches.
New shower facilities but showers not separated from drying area resulting in wet clothes towels and feet !
Outdoor dishwashing area undercover on the side of the facilities block looked a bit of an afterthought.
Easy walk into town unlit so take a torch. Many places to eat and drink in Bowness to suit all tastes. Buses toGrasmere run about every half hour from Bowness Pier in winter travelling through Windermere and Ambleside so great if you want to leave the car behind.
Wardens very helpful and friendly-we stayed in the car to check in and the warden showed us to the pitch.
Husband says the Elsan facilities the best and cleanest he’s ever used. No play facilities for children we could see. No dog but there did appear to be a dog walk.
The Lake beautiful and soul calming as ever.

People reading reviews of this site will be impressed and rightly so it is a great site. Well, it was a great site. It is currently closed ! I had occasion to travel to Bowness last August. I had been trying to make a booking and was unsuccessful. The site was closed. In fact the site was derelict, overgrown and no sign of any work in progress. January 2022 the Camping and Caravanning club cannot give an answer as to when the site will reopen.

Disappointed that site is still shut, visited earlier this week to see if work on toilet blocks had started as we were told would be started and open by end of year.
No work started and pitches overgrown, what a shame

Stayed here and had a great time we took our bikes and cycled around the area.
The site was well managed and clean the covid safe features worked well.
At the time we stayed the toilets and shower block were closed die to covid.
The only negative is the hard standing where you have to put your awnings has great big chunks on concrete, well ours did anyway.

1st time we stayed at this site and 1st time in the Motorhome,
We had a boat on the Marina so are frequent visitors to Bowness, friendly and efficiently run site,
We will definitely be returning,
Just a walk away to the ferry’s and main attractions.

Been once before some 8 years ago. Following Covid restrictions site was only using every other pitch so units were well spaced apart.
Toilet/showers are closed for this seas so can't comment on them but had to give a rating score so gave an expected 7. Disappointed that permanent sanitisers hadn't been installed at service points, only loose bottles and presumably even those get pinched as there was nothing at one service point.
One thing you can't blame the site for is the weather which was dreadful, almost non-stop rain for the 4 nights we were there.
Great location though only a short walk to town but it gets really busy at weekends with few people keeping socially distant.

Friendly welcome with choice of pitches in two areas although the road in looked a little overgrown. We chose the newer field although both seemed peaceful.
Facilities still closed but knew that when booking so cannot comment on them.
Site is very close to Bowness which was quite busy during the day although lots of places seemed to shut down after the day trippers had gone home.
There is easy access to the lake and some good walks for our elderly dog including Orrest Head.
Overall not sure we would rush back but since it was only a couple of days after sites were allowed to reopen and with the lease issues that the site had had it probably wasn't a true picture.
