Stayed here recently for 3 nights. Arrival is strict 1pm and very organised and friendly. We were given a choice of pitches and were very happy.
Small site, all hard standing and laid out very well.
Facilities block small but always very clean.
Covered over washing up area and information hut.
Short walk into Bowness via pubs and shops or you can take the little train from the car park right outside the site!
Plenty to see and do in Bowness, from boats to walks and lots more.
Numerous boat trips on offer. We caught a boat to Ambleside for a walk around and then back again.
Lots of places to eat and drink. Can recommend the food in the Albert and if you like Chinese food you'll be in heaven, it seems like every other restaurant is Chinese!
Out of the back gate of the site is the car/passenger ferry across the lake to Hawkshead. 50p per person each way. Nice walks around Claife over that side too.
All in all a great site and well worth a visit.

This site is well situated, being close to Lake Windermere, and a 10 minute walk from the main town and waterfront at Bowness. It is also a short walk from the vehicle ferry to Hawkshead. It was very busy, particularly as it was a bank holiday. The site consists of mostly hard standings, with a few grass pitches on the edge and by the gate. Compared to many club sites, the pitches seemed close, but you did not feel overcrowded. (Was the site taken over by the club with the hard standings already there?).
Facilities block was well maintained and looked as though it may have had some refurbishment. (Showers not of the push button type). Site team were very friendly and helpful, doing their best to accommodate as many people as possible. The Boathouse pub, which does good food, is just a short walk from the back gate of the site.

Stayed on this site just before the February Half term, lovely little site and friendly staff, I was worried after reading some reviews that it might be a little short on space for parking etc, and although the car, van (which is 7. 9m long) and awning only just fitted on we didn't have any problems. Facilities a bit dated but clean and al seemed to be working well. The area in Bowness can get very busy during holiday periods but at the time we were there it was nice and quiet. Would use again.

We have recently returned from 4 nights at this site. Upon arrival we were met by Nigel who told us it was his first day in the job. Very friendly and helpful and gave us a choice of pitches. The facilities were spotless and even though the site was very busy always accessible.
You can walk directly from the site through the little wooden gate around the Lake to the town of Bowness.
We took the pleasure cruise to Amblecote return ticket adult £10. 50. Was well worth doing.
We also took the bus from outside Booths by the railway station in Windermere. Adult explorer ticket £10. 80 return. You can stop off at at any town along the way ending in Keswick. We stopped off in Grassmere and Amblcote on the way back. Busses run every hour so you just hop on the next one.
Bowness is a short walk from the site with lots of shops and eateries. Windermere is about half an hours walk from Bowness.
We would definitely return to this site as we'd like to see the changes in the scenery in a different season.

Spent a very enjoyable few days here at the end of October into November and struck lucky with fantastic weather! It was sunny and bright with lovely blue skies every day. It was our first stay at this site and we were more than happy with our choice. Everything is neat and tidy with spotlessly clean facilities, an added bonus was the warmth that met you when you walked in the door of the shower block, very important when you camp in the cooler months! The warden who showed us to our pitch was very friendly and helpful which always adds something to your visit. We loved the walk along the lakeside to the village and feel sure we will stay here again, thank you.

Popular Choice in this Area
Fisherground Campsite - Eskdale
Nestling in the beautiful Eskdale Valley close to Scafell, England's highest mountain and Wastwater, this site is a children's paradise in the heart of the Lake District. The first thing that meets you on arrival is the pond, fed by a stream and usually full of children paddling and playing on tyre rafts. The playground has zip wires, climbing frames, tyre rope-swings and adventure courses.
Grass pitches (some with EHU) for tents, motorhomes, VW-sized campervans (no caravans). Refurbished toilets, showers and laundry. Peace is the watchword on the campsite - catering mainly for families and couples with silence after 10.30pm. Don't forget your marshmallows - campfires are allowed in selected areas. Nearby shop and pub. And there's an added extra: the site sits along the route of the Ravenglass and Eskdale Steam Railway line, with it's own station. Choo Choo! Find out more here

Stopped here on the way up to Scotland.
Joined the CC&C on arrival, despite they could only take us for one night, luckily that changed the day after and had a couple more days due to an early leaver.
Wardens were extremely helpful and friendly.
Showers and toilets were spotless despite some high traffic.
Short walk to Bowness (or take the little road train) just outside the site.
Seemed like many places to eat and drink but we never used any.
Generally a very pleasant site with some easy walking and cycling around the site.
Would definitely return.

Could not have asked for a more helpful team than the one we found here! Some pitches have concrete under the gravel. We found this out after struggling to hammer in rock pegs for a new awning. As I am in my 70's with a bad back and replacement knee I eventually gave up. However, when we later mentioned the problem to Brian, we learned that the site was created on a World War II anti-aircraft battery site and the concrete bases for the gun emplacements had been left in place! Apparently, a masonry drill can be operated by Dave or Rich to create peg holes! All you have to do is ask. Wish I had known this in advance!
Pitches are narrower than usual: some owners cars had to park across the front of the van. Visitors have to park in the large adjacent Pay and Display car park.
A road-train at site entrance takes visitors to and from the lakeside for cruiser trips and for access to the town; the cost was very reasonable. Many and varied eateries in town but as the area was very busy and full of tourists it was advisable to book a table in advance. Also there is a three-screen cinema which we did not visit.
Excellent base for many outdoor activities including sailing with various types of craft available for hire, sub-aqua diving, cycling, walking etc.

Outstanding. Besides the natural beauty of the site and immaculately maintained washrooms and toilets, the attitude of the husband and wife team was incredible despite the occasional 'Grumpy' camper.
I had entered the site before I noticed the site Full sign. I popped in to mention that I was merely going to use their one way system to exit and I called at an opportune moment as they had received a cancellation. Sadly only for one night. The following day as I was vacating they offered me an alternative pitch which had also been vacated early. I grabbed it and I thank you both for such a warm welcome.

Wow. What an amazing well located site, we loved staying here.
The site is a 5 minute walk into bowness, which is a lovely place to visit. The site is well laid out with adequate space between each unit, the grounds are very well maintained. Toilet facilities were warm and clean, I did think that with only four showers in both ladies and gent there would be a wait at some times, however this was not the case and access was excellent. There is a bus stop located right outside the site so you could park the car/motor home and leave it all week. We take dogs with us and there are some lovely walks around the area. Perhaps the only negative I could mention is the road noise, but that is possibly us being very picky!
Would we return. Most definitely, all ready to book for our next trip! Loved this site!

Just perfect, could not ask for better the site is lovely, really pretty with lots of planters hanging baskets etc. Kath and dave and there 2 assistants do a brilliant job. The whole site is spotless. Be aware if you come back to site after dark you will need a torch for coming down the lane. Good thing you can walk to bowness in about 10 minutes on an easy stroll. At the end of the campsite in the car park is the bus stop so should you need to you can always get a bus. Also the land train takes you into bowness and runs every 15 minutes. Good place to go is get the chain ferry over to hilltop and onto hawkshead. But take note it is 50p foot passenger but the mountain goat bus to hawkshead is £4. 30 each way per person so can work out expensive. Cheaper to take the car on the ferry at £4. 40 each way. You could get the ferry across and do the lakeside walk which is lovely.
I will definitely go back to this site.
