Stayed here for two nights mid July. Lots of space to set up the tent upon arrival, got a lovely spot overlooking the bay. The lady who came round to collect payment was friendly and helpful. Paid £8 a night for small tent.

Toilets and showers were clean and tidy, if fairly basic. Stocked with supplies of toilet roll, toothpaste, shower gel and shampoo if you needed it too. Washing up area also had fridges, freezer, washing machine. Put £1 in the meter to use. Small BBQs on hand to borrow.

Found Cemaes Bay to be very quiet, this may be ideal for you but we found it too quiet. A few shops - newsagents/general store, butchers, greengrocers, chippy, bakers, cafe. Small (but good) information centre with guides to area.

Be warned, campsite can get extremely windy! You are very exposed to the elements. We were fine in a small three man pop up but we witnessed a family with a large tent pack up and leave in heavy wind and rain as their tent was folding in too much.

Do walk to their private pebbled beach, there are some amazing views on the way, it is in a cove too.

I have used this site twice in the last 18 months, because of its good location. I agree with many of the views expressed here but I am surprised that no one has mentioned the dreadful state of the access to the site.

Having negotiated through the housing estate to the site entrance, you are then faced with a fairly long steep climb uphill. This would not be a problem but for the fact that the road has lots of deep potholes and is badly rutted. When the potholes are full of rainwater it is impossible to judge how deep they are. This makes it very difficult for motor caravans and touring caravans. I was expecting to ground and damage the underside of my campervan every time I used the road. The road was in the same condition in April 2008 so it is not a recent failing. Filling in the potholes would make a huge difference.

The Touring pitches were not level and were nowhere near big enough for even a modest sized unit. Spreading and levelling more gravel would make a big difference.

A little more work on these points would make this a really good site.

We're travelling around Anglesey for the week in our camper van. Stayed at 5 sites so far and been impressed with all except this one. It's £15 a night for two of us, our camper and a dog. All other sites have been £20. For the extra fiver, go elsewhere. It's not awful, it's just not loved. There appears to have been no investment for a period of years so all the facilities are tired. I'm a bloke so am not too fussed about the loos, but these were worse than most of the ones I've used when working on building sites; not dirty, just old and worn down. The town is a lovely place, but this site was just depressing.

In our opinion this is an excellent campsite. The showers are not brand new, but they are immaculately clean and very well maintained. The site has wonderful views of the coastline and I never met an owner as welcoming and helpful as Lizzie. The site has numerous electrical hook up points and Lizzie will do her best to provide a spot suited to your individual need. Lizzie has (strict, but fair) site rules and she is well prepared to uphold them. This ensures that everyone on the site has a lovely stay.

Due to the geography the site can be very windy, but the ground is not stony and holds tent pegs well.

Lizze has her own private beach, which is stoney but great for getting away from the crowd. (but in summer it can be a a little difficult to get down the path)

Caemes is a lovely village and has a nice sandy beach, several pubs (which are not too pricey) and a chip shop. There is also a grocery store.

The village can be accessed from a 'short cut' from the site so is a short walk. (or stumble if youve been the pub)

We stayed here for 8 nights and it was brilliant! The owner and her daughter were very helpful just had to knock on the door. The site has it's own private beach that we had to ourselves every time we went on it, even had a couple of bbq's on it. Just a short 5 min walk away is the town which has another beautiful beach and harbour, brilliant for crabbing!

On the site itself there are toilet blocks and washing up and laundry facilities like others have said they are not 5 star but perfectly adequate. Especially when we only paid £15 per night for 2 adults, 3 children, 2 dogs and ehu. (There is no extra charge for these facilities) In the laundry room there are also info for doctors, bait shops, food shops etc. and take away leaflets.

In Cemaes town there is are a few shops from a chip shop to cafe to chemist to butcher and bakers etc. Enough that if you wanted you wouldn't have to use a car once there. There is a lovely harbour and beach further round, a riverside walk and woodland path to explore. It also has a vine yard!

We visited south stack light house, llynon mill (only cost £5.50 for a family ticket), Almwich copper mine (free), RAF valley (free) The beauty of Angelsey is that nothing is more that about 40min away.

To round up we had an excellent time and the site is perfectly situated so you can easily explore the island. Parc lodge is clean, tidy, great value with outstanding views all round (Sea to the front and hills behind) Will definitely be staying again!

Turned up at parc lodge on Sunday. After the campsite we had selected turned out to be quite unsuitable for a trailer tent. Luckily we had taken some numbers for other sites with us.

Called parc lodge for directions and spoke with the lovely proprietor Lizzie who said she could accommodate us.

The site itself is set on the spectacular Anglesey coast. Within a 5 minute walk of the site is a beautiful coastal walk with amazing sea views and imposing cliffs, culminating in the use of a private beach set in a sheltered little cove.Just lovely.

The site itself is basic, but very well maintained, with a shower room for use by families, a shower in the always clean gents toilets, a washing up area with real hot water and a washing machine and freezer for campers use.

All the facilities are workable and the rates are cheap.

I have read reviews on this site slating the facilities but they were probably written by people who want £200.00 a night facilities for a tenner (You know the ones)

The village of Cemaes itself is calm and friendly, with adequate places to buy your day to day goods and there is a link cash machine in the local shop that does not charge you to get at your money (Hurrah!). There is a smashing chippy (Lovely fish) a couple of well cared for good pubs (The pint of jennings in the stag is just perfect) The Douglas inn provides a good, reasonably priced meal if you are just sick of cooking.
There is easy access to two beaches. One rocky and one sandy, that the kids just absolutely adored playing on. You can be on the coast roads towards either Amlwch or Y Fali in 2 minutes flat making parc lodge ideal as a base for days out to pretty much anywhere on the island.

I would recommend this site without hesitation to anyone and all who ask me. Perfect for hikers and families alike. Good pitches for trailers / caravans and motorhomes. Altogether a relaxing and lovely holiday facilitated by Lizzie and her great site.

The only negative comment I have on the site is that 2 overhead high voltage power lines cut one corner of the field. But unless the sole purpose of your visit is to fly a kite you'll be just fine.

To sum up, if you want a cheap cheerful campsite, set in a location straight from Gods sketch book then this is the site for you.

We have visited parc lodge on a few occasions,. The views from the site are outstanding but the actual site does need a lot of work. We also agree the webs do look ancient in the toilet area, we witnessed these on more than a few occasions. We actually cleaned the showers ourselves before we used them. Also I would like to say children will be children ours are always polite well behaved, which has been stated off many. The welcoming was outstanding at first and Lizzie would bend over backwards to help no matter what! Once she got to know you well she became a bit funny and bossy. P.S take your own toilet and bathe in the sea you Know the temp of the water!

Stayed as part of group of lads as we we're sea fishing the weekend, its very windy up there! My tent broke within ten minutes of pitching it, and its built for harsher weather, but whilst it broke I managed to work a bit of 'slinger magic' on it and it held up for the next 2 nights. Shame the same cant be said for the boat we were on.

Lizzie was very welcoming, which I didnt expect being part of a 10 man group but she made our stay very pleasurable, as did half of Caemes Bay!

The site is very 'back to basics' and if your the type who damand the toilet roll be 'folded over' you wont like it, the toilets are very very basic, and the door on the gents didnt even shut when we were there, but to be honest I prefer sites like this every now and again as they remind me of 'the good ol days'.

Would certainly consider going back, but would have to invest in a proper mountain tent I think!

I came on line to do a review and thought I would read some of the others first and was most surprised to read the latest additions. I can only think that they have reviewed the wrong site, as we had a most enjoyable break. Yes there was problems with the water pressure but Lizzie, the owner bent over backwards and turned down letting a cottage to supply extra facilities for those already there and let us use the shower which is supplied from a different main. Welsh Water dont come out on bank holidays unless there is a leak.
The toilets are cleaned twice a day but with over 90% site occupancy it is reasonable to expect that they will not be pristine 24/7. We were asked by Lizzie every evening on her rounds if everything was okay and she fully explained the situation, all the facilities we were told of were there and in working order. A nanny service to follow and clear up after inconsiderate campers is not one of the services offered.
Since that visit we have been back every weekend and it is always clean and welcoming and is the perfect site for those of us who only require the basics and peace and quiet to enjoy Cemaes, the wildlife, the beach and the walks.
I would recommend this site without hesitation. One last thought - If some campers took more interest in what their children are doing it would be better for all of us.

Reply To Happy Campers 123 review by lizzie

You are quite right we did have low water pressure from Saturday of the May Bank Holiday, which Welsh Water were unable to correct until the Tuesday following the Bank Holiday, However we opened up a cottage for anyone wishing to shower at any time.
The toilets were not full, I personally kept flushing them when the odd guest forgot to. In the utility room the two new Stiebel Eltron storage heaters which reach 85 degree temp over each sink were in full working order, but were slow to fill due to the low water pressure. To the best of my knowledge neither of these heaters had gone AWOL at any time. In the utility room there is a washing machine for campers to use, the dirty clothes belonged to a camper, waiting her turn to wash them.
Any forgotten clean crockery is kept in a metal basket ready for its owner to collect. No booking forms are lost they are filed as they arrived, maybe the reviewer was a last minute phone booking.
I’m so sorry that the reviewer didn’t make their complaints know to me on my evening walk around site, when I ask every camper if there are any problems, if there is anything I can do to make their stay any better, and to remind them that silent hour starts at midnight.
I would also like to point out that over the Bank Holiday, not one camper had less than a 2 night stay, most stayed a lot longer and the pleasure of their company was very much appreciated.
Kind Regards to all our past, future and returning campers. Please note we don’t have a family room any longer, it is know a unisex room, which has created a larger shower area for men. Lizzie
