Depending on what you are looking for then this site is either the best thing going or a complete nightmare!
We stayed in the week up-to bank-holiday, and although the site had quite a number of tents it didn't seem crowded. The site itself is very beautiful in a rugged wild kind of way and is very close to the beach.
Unfortunately its a bit run down and a bit dated, the showers are positively prehistoric but this can be overlooked if you want what is near as you can get to wild camping. The site needs a good clean up as there was a lot of litter blowing around and if you are unlucky enough to pitch up in the lower field then do not get too close to the hedges as these were often used as toilets.
The site also runs a turn up and pitch up policy so allows large groups, which is great if there are a number of you but can mean it gets noisy, we had 'neighbours' that played music and were loud until 3am.
There is an on-site club house which has two pool tables and has a couple tv's that plays the sports. The main bar has a no kids after 8:45pm. The beer is ok a bit expensive for bottles and the old guy running the bar could do with cracking a smile now and again but at least the lady serving was very friendly.
All in all a good site let down by the lack of care and attention it deserves, ok if you want to rough it but not one to expect a 'get away from it all' peace and quiet holiday.

We visited this site in our tent late July this year based on the reviews here and a friends recommendation. I have to say the pitches were fab, it was great being able to pitch where you liked and the sizes were good,it would have been nice if the grass had been cut though as it was very long and very wet which made for soaking feet whilst putting up the tent.
The campsite itself is gorgeous and the local area is stunning, south stack is well worth a visit. However we would not use this site again mainly because although the reviews stated you need to take your own loo roll they failed to state that the toilets were filthy, there was excrescence on the walls, filthy wet floors,a mop and bucket full of dirty water which failed to move the 3 nights we stayed,no hot water to wash up with (the hot water tap had been sawn off). We found the owners rude and completely wishy washy.
We will be visiting the area again but at a different site.I wouldn't stay here again if you paid me.

This site is a gem, its location is perfect if you like to go and do a bit of twitching over at south stack, great walks and idea if you like mountain biking.
The lower field is for caravans and motorhomes, the upper field amongst the rocks is great camping grounds, children will love this site. There is a beach at the top of the road about 5 mins walk.
The site has a small shop ideal for the necessary items like toilet rolls as they are not supplied.
My only criticism of the site is that the shower and toilet block are a massive let down to what is a fantastic site, the showers are dismal and look dodgy, the trickle of the shower is shameful. No hot water for washing dishes dosnt help either. May I suggest the owners build a purpose built toilet and utility block.
I have to say though don't let my comments put you off this is a lovely site and well worth a visit. Really nice people, good little bar on site that caters for all your needs. The kids will love it

This review is a little on the late side, but as we are using the site again, I felt a review was in order. Last year myself and a friend arranged a fishing competition for the kids of members of Seafishing.Org After a lot of searching we came across the valley of the rocks campsite. We booked our group in for the weekend, which consisted of 1 caravan (which they let onto the tent site) 1 trailer tent, and around 6 smaller tents, They gave us a nice secluded spot just over the hill, and we set up. There was plenty of room for all the tents and vehicles, and was exclusive to our group which was really nice, we had a lot of kids with us and did'nt want to disturb others.
The campsite owners were really helpful, and nothing seemed to be too much trouble. To cut a long story short, we had a fantastic weekend, although the site was basic, it had everything we needed. All the shops and facilities were only a few minutes drive away, and catered for everything we needed. We were so impressed with the site that we have arranged another competition, and booked in for the may bank holiday, with another to follow in september/october. We're all looking forward to going back to the site, and having another great weekend there.

Small but spread out campsite. Tents are some distance from the toilet / shower block, but the advantage is that you can pick a spot tucked away amidst the rocks and gorse shrubs. Very picturesque.
The facilities are basic, and there is no loo paper, BUT we only paid £8.50 a night, so we are far from complaining.
What is great, is that there is a gorgeous cove within walking distance, with it's own toilet block (also an ice-cream van). And, next to the site, a small and very cute little bar. (Family friendly, and serves food).
We will certainly return to this site soon. However, my only criticism, is that there was a lot of rubbish scattered around the site. Whilst exploring the rocks, we discovered that someone had thrown a bag of rubbish into the bushes, which had ofcourse been ripped open by animals. The rubbish included soiled nappies.
I don't think it is a lot to expect campsite staff / owners to take some responsibility for this. Perhaps bins could be provided around the site? although even this might not stop disgusting people dumping their rubbish in the bushes!

We have visited this site several times a year over the past 15 years and never had a problem with noise, or the facilities on site. Although there is a toilet and shower in the caravan (admitted space in there is limited) we often use the toilet and shower block to give ourselves more room and we have never had any need to complain to the owners. Surely it is up to the previous users to leave them in a tidy and clean condition, the owners of the site cant be expected to go in and clean up after each person comes out. The owners of the site Mal and Mick have always been very friendly and are always there if you need them

Very friendly staff and very helpful. Made room for quite a few of us at very short notice. When we camped in the top field (about 30 of us) the staff came around to make sure that all was well and even when the kids made a bit of noise it was tolerated. All the kids were in bed for 10pm.
I can't recommend this site highly enough for both location and value for money. The toilets were spotless and were cleaned daily with disinfectant. As previously stated by another reviewer the campsite was litter free.
The welcome that you receive is second to none.
We have booked them again this year for May Bank Holiday and being a sea fishing group we have members from all four corners of the UK and all praised the campsite when we returned home.

Location wise, great campsite 5 mins from shops by car Holyhead and 5 mins in car to bull Bay beach. Beach is cove with toilets and refreshment vans.
This campsite allows you to pay per night so you can escape early if the weather isn't great. Although our weather was fabulous!
The only downside was the toilet block as per earlier reviews. V basic and in major need of upgrading as is showers - 20p per shower. But bargain campsite at £10.50 per night and feels like wild camping due to layout of site. Be brave and try it.We've returned twice now!

Valley of the Rocks is in one of the most beautiful bays and areas of Angelsey. Having stayed for many years on the Island and mostly in Treadur Bay my husband and I fancied a change; Valley of the rocks is located a little further out of Treadur Bay nearer south stacks. It is a site of mostly shrub land with the occasional water tap and advertises (Cade's 2009) upto 40 pitches. Some of the pitches for tents are so far away from the toilet facilities that a car is needed to drive there! There are 3 toilets and 3 showers in the ladies block. Washing facilities for pans etc is available in one sink within the ladies toilets with cold water only. Showers cost 20p, for less than 2 minutes. The toilets were clean but old and shabby, the showers however were dirty with years of grime and soap scum; don't forget to take your own toilet paper to the block as none is provided once in there! The camp shop/reception has facilities to freeze ice blocks at a charge of 20p per block but does not open at the times specified on the information board, so pot luck is required if you want to use this facility.

Had booked a train to Holyhead with return within one month option, so decided to go camping. My dad had driven us past this campsite on accident a few years back. So this time with my partner, daughter and brother in law we decided to try it out. It was raining when we got there and as we never had any transport the owners let us organise our tents before we sorted the payments. The staff are more than helpful, very polite and we have had many a great conversation to while time away. Out tent was broken as we put it up but it lasted through the week and didn't leek once. (we did chuck it at the end of the week though). The owners apologised for the weather but coming from Birmingham it was hardly any different.
The site is free of litter, the toilet blocks are really clean always and the showers are just right no need for complaining after a hard day making sand sculptures at the beach. Am going back around the same time in 2009 as had a fantastic time! would recommend it to everyone!
Might take the bicycles to help travel this time though
