Very clean site, showers and toilets always clean,
Near to the river and some very good walks,
Whilst sitting in your tent you can watch bats catching flies.
There's a nice pub just down the road from the Campsite.

Situated in a wonderful spot, small, very reasonably priced site, shower block spick and span.
As others have mentioned the site is situated next to the road, this didn’t bother me. Right in the middle of of a glorious area,
I would definitely stay here again.
Dog friendly too😀

Beautiful location right besides the river wear.
Some stunning sites when you go for short walks.
Definitely recommend and will definitely go back again.

We love Weardale for its peace and tranquillity. We have been coming here for many years as a young child then as a dad now as a grandad.
If you like peaceful walks no crowds the sound of a river. This is spot on.
Small shower block with toilets but this is a small camp site so don't need a big shower block.

A small site on the far side of the village on the main road to Alston. You do get a bit of noise from the number of motorbikes that use the route.
Apart from that, the site is very good, with a small facilities block which is very clean and locked all the time but you do get a key. The sites right next to the river and a small ford crossing which is nice this time of year.
The pitches are nice and flat but are a bit small and you are close to the neighboring pitch.
We struggled to get a tv signal with our caravan aerial, probably need a better aerial as you are in a valley. No problems with phone signal and there's a great pub in the village. Stanhope is only 5 mile away and has some shops with good local produce. Will definitely be going back.

Really great site, sheltered, flat pitches and well-drained. Helen gave us a very friendly welcome.
The site is on the Weardale Way with lovely walks from your doorstep. Chapel St. John has a great cafe - the Chatterbox, and a handy co-op. It's only just over a mile, so ignore the road signs and is a lovely walk.
The road is right by and can be noisy, but only in the morning and evening rush minute! It's not that busy.
A great site in a lovely valley.
We would stay again.

This campsite is how I remember camping as a child, its quiet, a plain field, clean toilets and showers which are cleaned twice daily and I've been in and the toilets have been a bit dirty but that reflects the people staying there, rather than the management!.
Well run! Management are brilliant and the best priced site around, my daughter loves it.
It is our second time visiting and we cannot wait to make more memories here.
