Just come back from a lovely week here. Weather was fantastic and surroundings are lovely. Peacocks roaming about which seemed tame enough but noisy! Walks around the ground are great and the children's play area is good. Its surrounded by a wall and is secure. Wood chippings on floor to help with those little falls!

On the down side when we got there we were given directions but no map to help you and as all the numbers were overgrown this was a bit of a joke. The field is on a slope so need to take your chocks! The first toilet me and my 6 year old came to had no seat and out of the 8 in the block only 3 of them were usable and one of them the lock didn't work. Showers just didn't look inviting at all. The male showers weren't any better and only had urinals so you would have to walk round to the other side to actually use the toilets. We only witnessed them being cleaned once in 6 days and that was only because it was getting busy.

We complained about the elsan disposal. This was blocked and even though we were assured it would be looked at it was still blocked when we left. Ok when there were only 8 units but as we left there was over 20 and still more arriving.

£25 a night was definitely not worth it for the facilities but for the location then maybe.

We were told that it is getting updated but as and when who knows.

The surroundings of this site are beautiful. However the toilet\shower facilities are very old and were certainly not cleaned while we were there. You can see that the new owners are making progress, however the site fees should reflect the site being restored, we felt that £50 for 2 nights was very over priced. One positive was the walk around the site which was lovely. The site looks like it has lots of potential.

Been going to this park for the last 20 years yes the showers and toilets are in poor condition some of the hook up points are in a poor state but the new owners intend the have a new touring site with club house and toilets and shower block cant come soon enough,

the park itself is in my opinion is very good the new owner is putting in a lot of cash into the park to make this his flag ship site.

You just have to walk around to see all the work that has been undertaken since the new owner purchased witton castle.

But like most things it takes time changes to not happen overnight

This park as changed so much in past year, my parents own a static caravan here. I visited a few times when I was younger and it used to be really busy and had lots of good times here.

Over the years it became run down, and a lot of unsavoury people started to appear. So when I went to visit and stay at park after my parents bought the static, I was a bit unsure. Even though I was told new owners had took over castle and grounds, and were revamping the whole place over next few years.

Was totally surprised, when I arrived the grounds are immaculate all beautiful lawns well kept and looked after. Hundreds of beautiful static caravans and log cabins, new laid roads everywhere. The land surrounding castle which goes for miles with rivers and streams as always been great for walks, but to see around Castle and the statics the place is immaculate.

Well done to owners and work is still going on all over site. In next few years a new club house and other attractions are to be built. The castle itself is beautiful but inside was needing a revamp in bar area, which I've been told is going to happen. Play area on the grounds for children needs to be expanded to make it even better, but I'm sure that will happen soon.

Plus toilets and shower rooms outside need to be revamped. I went for loads of walks and really enjoyed myself you wont be disapointed and it can only get better.

Just spent aug bank holiday at this site, you drive in to the site an security is good. Give us direction to touring pitch, your drive in to well kept lawns passed the static caravans(very nice)then turn left into the touring pitches, which is screened by trees an a wall,an next to the castle.

The pitches are slightly sloping, pitched at the top.Well the pitch was ok on grass, grass not to long, the big field on the way in to the left was being cut as we arrived, went on for 2 days looked great.

Must of spent 10 min cutting touring site,my electric hook up worked, but some didn't.Toilets are a good 300yds away, part of the castle,an about the same age.(so need updating)an the chem disposal point was a joke, tucked round the side from the showers(which we didn,t use as to far to walk)a hole in the ground which I think was a drain with a broken cictern,no water to flush it

For £22.50 a night not worth the price,as I thought the touring site came a poor second to the stactics which where very nice, lot of money spent there, nowt spent on the touring area,

Castle an grounds where great, nice walks.

Will only go back if I find out they have improved the area.

What can I say other than this site is absolutely beautiful, play park for kids is fantastic, the castle grounds are spectacular, staff are just the best and so so friendly.

Food is good and very reasonably priced at £3 for a children's Sunday lunch and £10 for 2 adults sun / lunch's. They do other food the rest of the time.

I feel that this park really caters for the family and that they do all they can to make your stay enjoyable.

It only costs £22 a night with electric, and that price includes everything and as many people to stay as you like.

We will definitely be going back very soon, try not to be put off by the other reviews as this park has definitely turned itself round, the toilets are in need of update but they are clean and free. I was expecting them to be really really bad but they certainly aren't that bad. They are completely renovating the whole site so toilets etc are getting done very soon.

Witton Castle Caravan Park: The touring section is in need of updating but the Park is great with loads of walks and outdoor bike riding areas.

There is a lot of money being spent so I think this will become the No1 site in the North East in a year or two. Also lovely fly fishing lakes and also river fishing nearby. A safe secure site that's on the up

We spent august bank holiday here, nobody showed us to our pitch it was a case of park where you like. The electric hook up pitches are among the trees, it gives you some shelter from the wind, watch out for the pot holes though. Loads of room for the kids to play as they have stopped tents now, good park.

I wonder if in time they will stop tourers as well as more statics are being sited all the time and the touring end seems to be a bit run down. The mens toilets are dark and in need of updating, I didn't feel brave enough to try the showers. The chemical disposal was a disgrace, as you empty your waste into the outside toilet it comes back out of the ground. This could be a very good site if some thought was put into it and of cause some money, it has got lots going for it lovely views, walks, beautiful setting, just a bit tired in places

As previous reviews, nothing much has changed.

The castle grounds are very good and well kept.

The toilets and showers are within the castle and are very shabby and could do with a good up date, I could find no wash up area and my partner said the chemical disposal point was the worst he had ever seen as there is nothing to rinse the unit out after emptying.

The children enjoyed the play park, one for the younger kids and one for older children.

The on site shop was well stocked.

Inside the castle upstairs are 4 adjoining rooms, one with bar, a lounge area, one where they have entertainment and one for the kids showing movies, games machines etc and a small shop for pop, crisps etc. Downstairs is the basement bar for over 18's only.

There was a charity event on the Saturday afternoon which was okay, they seem to have regular events on frequently.

This was a last minute booking and doubt we will return again due to the touring amenities that let this site down.

Booked a Fri/Sat night stay and paid £22.50 per night with ehu. Large touring field, half with hook up. No hard standing. Only 10 other caravans/motorhomes on site when we arrived. Lots of cut grass lying on site and as it began to rain, quickly accumulated on footwear as we were setting up. Quick check of toilets revealed they were tired but clean. Good children's play area. Unable to get TV reception through hook-up bollard. Some on site had good reception, others same problem as ourselves. Chemical disposal was an outside flushing w.C. Pan but there was no water supply for cleaning.

Although needing some TLC in places, the site has some nice walks and scenery but we have stayed at better sites for a lot less. Given that the site still seems to attract a rough element, we will not be returning.
