Spent time over Easter at this site not too busy. Basic site in the Cotswolds with clean toilets and separate washing up room. Owner very helpful with information on local pubs and maps for walks. Fresh eggs for sale and bags of wood. Had wonderful open fire two nights running and the views across the valley are lovely. A couple of cute donkeys and chickens were my neighbours. This site is about a 1/2 mile away from the nearest shop - which is open every day and a mile to nearest pub. No playground - but kids soon make their own entertainment, football, cricket, etc. Would definitely go again

Nice basic field with plenty of space in March. Only 2 toilets, one for men one for women. No alternative wash facilities so could be a problem in summer. Didn't bother me though. Toilets were clean but it would have been a nice touch to have some liquid soap in there are it doesn't cost much.
It was nice to be able to have an open fire but remember to take your own wood as their wood is pricey.
You have to go through the owners garden to get to the toilet. DO NOT GO THROUGH if there is a small dog loose! It is not harmless as it put a hole in my friends trousers as she went into the toilet and the following day bit my leg in front of the owner. It also bit the owners son! I am not happy with the reaction and it was a shame as we had also been overcharged £10 instead of £8. No offer of a refund!

An average farmer’s field with a toilet in his back garden you can use.
PROs: Campfires allowed with own wood (save £5), clear night skies, close to Cotswolds, family and dog friendly, relatively cheap, close to small town if needed.
CONs: Washing up area next to toilets completely unlit when dark (bring a torch), Only one male and female toilet with very low headroom (with +60 people timely queues inevitable!), Within earshot of several roads (+3), Electrified fence beside tents on half the plot, could do with additional solar lights to guide path around hidden tree stump near toilets.
Does not compare well to other ‘campfire allowed’ sites I have visited. The location is not remote or stunning enough to justify the lack of facilities, and not established enough to feel like more than you’re paying to camp in someone’s large back garden. Disappointingly over-rated.

What a lovely little site this gem was. Tucked away off the beautiful roads but still very easy to find we arrived on a beautiful afternoon and pitched up.
Such a change to find the 'reception' was just a delightful old chap in his lounge reading the paper took the very reasonable £8 for the pitch and let us get on with it after a few explanations on the facilities. If you can say you like
1. Fresh air
2. Being surrounded by nature
3. Having fires underneath the stars
4. Being left to it and don't need the nonsense and rulebooks so many sites have these days then I think this may be the site for you. Logs available by the bag and toilets a bit basic but in balance, could not ask for more in a site.

We visited this campsite for the first time about 6 weeks ago. Since then we have stayed about 8 or 9 times. The last time (weekend of 23rd of July), we stayed after getting married.
This is a fantastic little campsite, nice views, quiet location, friendly service from the owner, local town of Shipston is about 4 miles away oh and a good pub in the village which is a 1/2 mile there and 1 & 1/2 back.
It's a proper campsite. The kind where the kids all make friends and play games in the middle of the field, The toilet facilities are good enough (fair to say not flash)but ample.
Massive bonus is that you are permitted to have small fires, and they even sell bags of wood. Fantastic sitting round a fire outside your tent looking at clear night skies.
We recommend this site to everyone.

We went here for our first camping trip on the strength of the 30+ previous reviews and were not disappointed. It is an exquisite setting, with a feel of going back in time. The atmosphere is relaxed and easy going, the views stunning, the camp fires take you back to childhood. We had a good sing song round the fire, just magical and the kids had the time of their lives, setting up the fire and toasting marshmallows. We didn't want to leave. There is plenty of space for playing in the middle too.
One suggestion would be to have a separate washroom as there is only 1 toilet. This didn't pose a problem really despite it being really busy but would be helpful.
I can't comment on the shops/pubs fully except to say the pub is quite pricey so if you're on a budget trip take plenty of food rather than think you'll pop out for a cheap meal.
Truly delightful little site, we'll go back!

At last minute on 25th June I decided at last minute I wanted to go camping due to the good weather forecast the next day. I set off at around 7:30 PM to this site which is only a 35 mile drive from me.
The campsite comprises of one big(ish) field with various fire patches scattered around the edges. I went to visit the owner at the cottage to check in who is a kindly old chap who charged me a mere £16 for 2 nights camping.
The field was very busy that evening and later learned that there were some Duke of Edinburgh kids stopping off there. There were people playing football, water fights and all sorts. Quickly got chatting to various friendly people who were all interested in my dog which really broke the ice and made me feel at home.
This site really was buzzing and noisy (in a good way) then at about 10pm the kids were all told to quieten down and everyone in general shut up and the site fell silent at around 10:30pm. At this point I could relax by the fire and gaze up at the stars, which I did for about 2 hours!
The site owner told me that a guy visits from Cheltenham with a telescope and I can see why, there is little light pollution which provides for an absolute visual feast of stars.
The next day I noticed that the majority of people were still there at around 3 and all seemed to gradually clear off by 5. I get the impression the owner isn't fussed about what time people go which is nice. My only neighbour for that evening turned out to be the nephew of the site who was also friendly and told me about the old mill and how there used to be a moat and they used to play in it as kids etc.
The facilities are very basic. There is no electric hookup. There is a kind of 'lean to' building on the side of a garage with toilets and sink for each sex and a washing up sink.
The sink makes fine for a wash if needed. I couldn't find anywhere close to the toilets to tether the dog but luckily mine isn't too much of a wanderer. I do think though that it could do with a ring in the wall or something to tie dogs to.
The firewood is £5 a bag but I think you might need more than one bag if you wanted to sustain a fire for more than 2 hours in less warm weather.
This site is not pretending to be anything it isn't; it's a simple no frills site charged at a no frills price run by a nice man who enjoys a chat. I really did enjoy my two nights away from it all and will definitely be back for a short get away in the near future.

We stayed here with other families for 2 nights and loved the site. As detailed there is only one mens and one ladies loos and no showers. Do you know what - it really didn't bother us.
They were kept clean and tidy, often I didn't queue (and this was a busy half term weekend) and occasionally I did have to wait a few minutes but we weren't in a rush!
The field is lovely with easy access from the road, nice and flat (around the edges) and you can park your car next your tent. The farmer is pleasant and very much leaves you to it.
The site was full of like minded families with no noise or irritation, just children joining in the games of cricket.
Camp fires are allowed where they have been made before which was fantastic and really made for a very special couple of evenings sitting under the stars. He sells wood or you can bring your own. This was our first trip camping with a young family and we thought it was lovely.

Just spent a couple of days at Mill Farm with my family, had a brilliant time. Would highly recommend this site to anyone.Camp fires at night with the children toasting marshmallows. Chickens running free and a couple of donkeys that the children loved. There is a single toilet for each sex and a small room with hot water for washing up your pots. No shower facilities but not really an issue as you can wash in the toilet room.
Friendly people to meet you and no hassle.Just pay and you are left to it.
The owners also sell fresh free range eggs from their chickens.Which are lovely. Thoroughly enjoyed for breakfast. And they also sell bags of logs for the camp fire at £5.Best thing for us was the children all got together with other campers to play rounders and other games in the middle of the field. So many sites ban ball games now this was fantastic.
Only slight down point was the cockerel making a rattle at 4 in the morning. Haha . Brilliant Highly recommended.

Took 10 children here for the night for my daughters 11th birthday party. Great campsite, lovely big field in a beautiful spot.Plenty of space for games and running around.
There are no showers but the toilets, one female and one male are kept spotlessly clean ALL day and night and there is always toilet roll. There is a wash handbasin so you can have a wash down and there are hooks and plenty of space to put your things so not on the floor.
There is a washing up unit with plenty of boiling hot water.
The campsite owner is very friendly and will sell you bags of logs for £5, we also went on a short walk along one of the many signed footpaths and gathered our own kindling, so that we could have a REAL campfire!
Would definitely recommend this campsite for good old fashioned back to basics camping.
