Just got back from a weekend at Mill Farm and it was very enjoyable.
The weather was lovely and so attracted a fair few campers. I would say around 40 pitches of varying sizes. Each tent is only £5 so it’s very cheap and the owner was a really nice guy.
The site is a large, fairly flat field with the owner’s house to one corner. As other campers have mentioned there is 1 female and 1 male toilet, both very clean with small waiting times at busier periods. There was a real family vibe with lots of children & dogs running around.
The best thing about this site is the fact that you are allowed a fire. The field was covered in 'pot hole' type fire pits which are markers for where you are allowed your fire. The owner sells bags of logs for £5 (up to 10pm); you may wish to consider bringing wood with you from a cheaper source? Most campers have fires in the evening so the smell of the burning wood and the glowing flames give you a real sense of the great outdoors.
Surrounding areas is lovely too. 2 small shops about a 10minute walk from the site with all your necessities. We drove to Sainsbury’s in Chipping Norton about 6 miles away for our BBQ food.
We also went to the Red Lion pub just a further 5 minute walk from the 2 small shops which was nice. We didn’t eat there, just had a drink but the food looked good although prices were £10+ for pub grub.
All in all a lovely site, surrounding area and weekend in general. I would definitely recommend this site and will return at some point with friends.

We stayed 4th July til the Sunday. This is the second time we have visited this site, as we were here only 2 weeks ago! This is such a fabulous basic site and we love it. The bestest camp site I've ever stayed on. There are plenty of walks to go on with the rollright stones nearby. There are 2 local shops which are about a leisurely 1 mile walk away. You can purchase logs at the campsite for £5 and to stay for one night is also £5 a proper bargain!

Loved the site - it's basic but what do you expect for £5 a night per tent! We had 3 tents 5 man and above and a 10 man tent we used as a mess tent. They charged us £20 a night for the lot. With 13 of us I thought it was excellent value.
Toilets are clean and had loo rolls and hot water. There are no shower facilities so don't expect any. There can be queues for the toilets - 1 male, 1 female - be prepared.
The site did have far more than 11 pitches (we had 4 tents) - I'd estimate at 40 to 45. However, it's big enough you can pitch so you aren't directly next to anyone and the kids still play in the middle.
This is a family campsite - if you expect quiet then go somewhere quiet. It's quiet in terms of cars and location but obviously with this number of people on the site it can get noisy. We weren't bothered by the noise at all and by the time it was dark at 11.00 was quiet enough you could easily sleep if you wanted too. The Duke of Edinburgh kids near us were so tired - we tried to keep quiet so they could go to sleep!
Fire pits are great - should be at all sites - think we should start a campaign. Being able to sit round the fire and have a few beers watching the fire and the stars - what more do people want?
Pub in Whichford - the Norman Knight is excellent - good beer, good food - nice walks - just watch out for the cows!
Watch out for the electric fence - only one small sign near reception - but it isn't going to kill anyone.
Take some firewood to get you started - the surrounding are has been cleaned!

As many previous reviewers have said, the location of this site is superb if you want countryside right outside your tent, but with nearby shops, pubs etc. Too.
We took our two sons along with other family relatives, so a total of 7 of us, in two tents, paying £5 a night for a 3 man tent and £8 a night for a larger 6 man.
What’s Good:
You can have open fires on your own pitch. Probably the biggest plus of this site!
The field is largely flat and even though it was busy whilst we were there, it never felt crowded.
There are some good walks nearby and the owner has leaflets with various walks of different lengths available.
What Could Be Improved:
The toilets are clean and basic, but with only one for men and one for women there was often a queue. That was probably because during the weekend we stayed, we counted 25 or so tents spread around the field. With more than 50 people on the site you can expect to queue, I guess, and yes the toilet roll did run out once or twice, but usually there was plenty, and spares too.
Other Observations:
Another reviewer mentioned the road noise. There is some, but it was not that noticeable, although if you want absolute peace and quiet and be away from everything then this site may not be right for you.
There are local pubs, as well as takeaways in nearby Chipping Norton. There is also a Sainsbury in Chipping Norton, where we stocked up on supplies for a BBQ. Chipping Norton has the usual high street shops, and the Old Mill café comes recommended. There are also local shops in Long Compton, about 10 minutes walk away from the site.
The walk leaflets were clear, but we found one of the paths hard to follow and wished we’d taken an OS map with us too.
Top Tip:
The owner sells bags of firewood at £5, which is great if you arrive a bit late like us and want a fire the first night. But our advice would be to bring your own firewood if you can, and although you won’t find any wood lying around on the site, there is plenty about if you are prepared to take a short walk. We picked some up from the roadside whilst driving back from Chipping Norton.
All in all we had a great weekend at Mill Farm and this is a site that we plan to return to again.
Overall we gave Mill Farm 9/10, with only the queue for the toilet stopping a perfect score.

We love this site!
Its basic but beautiful. There is only a toilet no shower, but there is plenty of hot water and loo roll.
The best thing about this site is that you can have a camp fire. There is little light pollution too so star gazing at night is superb.
Our kids love to run around this site, there are donkeys and horses to keep them amused.
The cost too of £5 per night means that you can enjoy a lovely back to nature break for a bargain price.

We loved this place - having planned to stay for one night over bank holiday weekend we ended up staying for two (despite cold nights in an inadequate sleeping bag!) as it is such a great campsite. This is basic camping (a field, no showers, just outside loos) but in a beautiful setting with two friendly donkeys, horses and chickens to amuse the children and best of all, campfires allowed.
There are maps of local walks in the women's toilets and they will supply you with a printed map for your preferred walk. With three kids aged 3-8 we picked leisurely walks up to the woods and had a great time, especially dragging wood back for the fire. All this for £5 per night for the tent!
Long Compton is pretty, with thatched cottages and gorgeous countryside all around. We ate at the Red Lion one night which was nice with a big garden and great kids play area, it is gastropubby and hence not cheap.
We will definitely be going back and would wholeheartedly recommend it to anyone who likes toasted marshmallows and doesn't mind no-frills camping.
Finally - a previous reviewer mentioned the electric fence so just to set your mind at rest, all my kids tested it extensively because they liked the very mild shock it gave them. Voltage must be minimal, just enough to keep the greedy donkeys out of your tent!

My girlfriend and I have just returned from a weekend spent camping at Mill Farm. I can only echo the words of previous reviewers and wholeheartedly recommend the site.
OK, lets get the drawbacks out of the way first. The absence of any shower facilities isn't ideal. However, I agree with others that the toilets are spacious, clean, have constant hot water and loo rolls a plenty! For a weekend / couple of nights we found them adequate.
The only other slight gripe was that there is a pretty busy road half way up the hill at the back of the site and road noise could be heard. Now, this isn't to say there are convoys of juggernauts thundering close by your tent but for someone after complete silence on a remote site, it may bother you (we didn't think it spoiled the experience at all).
That's it for bad points. In its favour are;
1) Great countryside surroundings
2) Lovely village within easy walking distance inc. Fabulous pub, great organic food store, village shop, chocolate box pretty cottages etc.
3) Open fires allowed! (a must in our book)
4) Friendly owner
5) No need to book in advance
6) Plenty of room to pitch (whole field is flat)
7) Amazing walks on the doorstep. If you're feeling in a walking mood I'd certainly advise a trek via the fantastic 'public rights of way' to Kingham (beautiful village, 2 amazing pubs!) and Bledington (very, very pretty and another amazing pub!)
8) Cheap as chips.£5 per night per tent made us feel guilty for having such an amazing time for so little outlay!
We'll certainly be back to sample some more 'proper' camping!

I stayed on this site for one night early last summer having read on this site they allow campfires. Lovely big field where you can choose your spot to pitch your tent.
Ladies toilet was clean with hot running water - no shower but plenty of space to have an all over body wash!
A lovely 20 walk along country lane to the local shop stocking basic supplies - gorgeous farmshop selling homemade jams / pies / cakes / fruit and veg next door! Just along the road from the shops is the local village pub which served nice food.
We walked back along the lane and picked up some fallen branches for our campfire. Lovely quiet location and a great weekend away!

We stayed at this camp site in August for 5 nights, The camp site it self is in a lovely area away from every thing (except for the jets!)
We found the campsite through this website
The toilets are basic but kept clean with plenty of hot water, good recycling facilities. One major worry, was the electric fence, no signs or warnings to indicate when on.
Good info about local walks and pubs, really like The red Cow food fab.
