The park is set in a wonderful place which is central to lots of attractions with out being to commercialised. The facilities for the children are good in the fine weather but on wet days their is not much for them.In the event of assistance the employs a camp security guard. The bar is a wonderful building ,its a little quiet possibly due to not much funding for entertainment, but the staff are friendly and very accomadating. The food served was possibily the best in the area for value and quality, which is well thought out if you have children, well done to the guys in the bar for excellent service! overall the the park is a winner .

We took our Motorhome for the weekend here. Myself, my partner and 3 Kids (14,12,5). Pitches were very spacious. Scenery was Lovely. Nice looking site.
I have never been on such a quiet site in all my camping years! If you want tranquil (and I mean Tranquil. Where you really begin to think there's only you here!)then this is the site for you. We hardly saw anyone.
Quite a steep hill up to the Pub. We ate once in here. It's a basic menu but the food was VERY good. They have a few arcade games and a pool table. We didn't see many people in here so this was also quiet. There is an outside area with picnic benches to eat and drink on with spectacular views.
Only gripe I had was that the Pub Furnishings and the Pub toilets were grubby. Now to say this is an Expensive 5 Star site I was not impressed. This was an area for improvement.
The shop was well stocked and sold lots of things to BBQ. They also have a shared kitchen were you can go and use their facilities to cook.
Shower and toilet blocks were good and felt like they had heating on in them.
Disposal facilities for Chemical toilets were awful. The stench and the flies. Not a nice expereience.
They were digging up most of the fields while we were there and preparing the land for Wooden Lodges to sell complete with hefty price tags! Most likely they'll be doing away with the lowly camper at some point.
Surrounding area is Beautiful. Windermere and Ambleside are within easy driving distance. Take a boat trip on Windermere, or feed the ducks. Loads of walking shops, and quaint little cafes and pubs. I lived in Ambleside for 3 years and you won't be short of lovely places to eat. Try Zefferellis for Pizza(eat in or out)they also have a little cinema as well. There's a lovely walk with a waterfall at the back of the Salutation Hotel at Ambleside. Unfortunately we had nothing but torrential rain on our weekend so we didn't get to do any walking.
If you love peace and tranquility then this is the site for you.

We first visited this sight in July 2006. We were so impressed that we booked in for the same week this year. We arrived on the Saturday afternoon. There were 8 in our party in 2 tents. We had planned to put the tents up, sit back for a while then have a stroll up to the Pub for a bar meal. We arrived in the pub at 8.00pm and went to order our food at 8.10pm. Imagine our surprise when we were told they were no longer serving food! Apparently they had run out of ingredients. Asked if they could rustle up a few sarnis? No! Toast? No!. Luckily we had some breakfast food in the cool box so we trudged back to the tent and had bacon and sausage butties. Not a good start. One thing that was noticed on our arrival were the huge lodges taking up the space that was last year a tent site. They are clearly taking over. A previous poster priced one at £115,000. Try doubling that amount for a top of the range lodge. YES £243,000. If the lodges sell at those prices it won't be long before us peasants in tents will be soon pushed out altogether. The sight attracted us because of it's location. The kids play area and water play area are fantastic. The staff are always helpful (and apolgetic when no food to serve!). The shower blocks are both clean and showers hot. A couple of shower cubicles had locks missing, (this was reported). The pitches are a good size, although this site is not cheap. It is our plan to return next year, if there is still a tent/touring field. We did go in the pub on our last day. They had food this time which was OK. Service in the bar is very good.

We visited this site in August and we were very happy with it. The Toilet and shower blocks were very clean and the showers were free and hot. There was a shop onsite that stocked all the essentials but was a little pricey. There was a bar onsite that served very nice food. There was also a games room for kids. I would return to this site but they are reducing the number and size of the tent pitches so I have heard?
All in all a very good site.

We booked this site at the last minute last year for a weekend - 2 adults, 2 children. On arriving, met with beautiful views - given good directions to the pitch - opening times of shop and pub could have been clearer on arrival to avoid having to go to them to check this out. The shop and pub were a little out of the way at the top of a hill- an uphill walk is not really suitable for a wheelchair user or for a carer who may be assisting them. The children's play facilities were very good - my children played in the stream all weekend and enjoyed the play facilities. My daughter wanted to go riding which was available just outside the site but it was too hot! Didn't use the laundry facilities due to length of stay but the washroom facilities for the pots were very good, some indoor with a TV.
Staff were extremely helpful and pleasant, although the pub was understaffed when we used it with only one person working on the bar when football was on and the pub was packed. Site was kept very clean when we were there. One of the shower blocks was out of order at the time of our visit but the one that was available was very clean and had hot running water - a positive for campers. Overall had a lovely stay and hope to go back this summer.

Just spent the Easter weekend on this site the views all around are very good and the site is very peaceful. It is a clean site with good clean showers and toilets. The only down side for us is that my son is in a wheelchair and at the time of booking we ask would it be easy to get to on site facilities (club, shop) and was told yes what they never said is the it is up hill OK going but try coming down with shopping and holding on to a wheelchair lots of fun.
I was also told on the phone I could use the facilities on the near by sites (White cross Bay and Fallbarrow) free of charge but when ask at the site office I was told there is a charge it was £60 for the week for a family of 4. The play area for children is clean.
Make sure you bring your own tea, coffee and sugar as the shop is not cheap it is about £0.90 for 2 lts of milk if you wanted a bottle of Sprite or coke they are near the £2 a bottle. For a big bottle of water it was £3 where if you go to the supermarket it is £1
But it has the best views you can pay for!

Just spent 2 nights at Limefitt. Fantastic corner of the world and very relaxing. Staff friendly on site and in the bar. There is some work going on at the moment where the tent pitch used to be and we were woken early by heavy plant. Concrete slabs are showing us that wooden lodges are the money makers and personally I think tents and tourers will be squeezed out in a few years. (One wooden lodge here was for sale at an estate agents in Ambleside for £135,000). The scullery wasn't in use for washing up, due to the work, but the camping kitchen was very good for this (and cooking meals if you didn't have cooking equipment). Toilets very clean and showers hot, powerful and free. My son loved the kids playground. There is a well stocked shop on site. The site is close to Ambleside and Windermere where there are many shops and restaurants. The standard tourer pitch had waste water disposal, drinking water and electric hookup which was all we needed. Out of season, we paid £16 per night. We will go back again.

Just thought I'd let you know if your planning a visit to Limefitt Park with your tent, it may be worth booking your pitch in advance. I have stayed at this park several times although not for the past 4 years however I called there 2 weeks ago just to see if it was still as nice and it was a bit of an eye opener. Although to be fair the the owners I don't think the park was actually open to tents as the majority of the camping area has been dug up in what seems to be making more space for caravans. The staff were very helpful as usual and as they will now only have 32 pitches they suggested booking in advance. Also they have a maximum pitch size now. Just thought I'd pass this info on. Happy camping !

Having visited this site back in 1984 as a lad with my parents trailer tent a natural curiosity arose to see how it would now look like. Arriving it was overall the same as then!,although now full of VERY expensive static lodge caravans hogging all the best bits to the site and river views. The reception was not bad after a long journey and overall impresions were of a well organised site. Pitches were a bit regimental with no choice to pick an area away from the kids playing field. Level spots with cracking views. My only gripe with the showers that were fairly clean was the idea of a code on the door entry that often didnt work!( not fun when wanting the loo urgently) Bar should have a bit more atmos bearing its location, (bit youth hostely/ steakhouse) A nice walk I remembered was to a pub on the road about a mile away, having ventured up thiere was disapointed to findit had turned into a rather upperclass gastro pub, stunning food but snotty and pretentious service full of second home owners! Not a pub to take the kids for pop and crisps!
Location, not bad, a place to avoid was windermere, blackpool by a lake! Ambleside positively charming in comparison exactly what one expects of a lakes town. Cracking pub for charm and character was on Kirkstone Pass, couldnt reccomend the food and beer more!
Rounding up this site,an organised pleasant place geared to fairly non walker types wanting easy access to popular honeypot tourist spots, comfortable choice for someone new to the lakes, well worth a try.

We have visited this site twice a year for 3 years. The site is in a fantastic position close to Windermere with unrivalled views across the Lakes it really is breathtaking. There is a lovely stream running through the campsite which the children love to swim in. There is a brilliant play area and large field for football etc. There is also a Riding Stables next to the site which is very well run and suitable for all abilities. The pitches are generally large and flat. There is a well stocked shop which is quite pricey but there is a Booths Supermarket in Windermere just up the road. There are beautiful shower blocks which are warm but unfortunately not very clean which is my only gripe, even reporting it every day made little difference. There are also plenty of nice walks from the site and a couple of nice pubs which do excellent food, The Mortal Man and The Sun. Definitely worth a visit but take flip flops to shower in and some wipes to clean the toilets.
