last visit July 2002 My husband and I and our four children have stayed many times at this gorgeous, peaceful site. The site staff have always been really friendly and welcoming- especially to our children. The toilet and shower block are spotlessly clean and warm, with the best and most powerful showers ever! Who on earth could object to punching in a security code to get in if it helps to keep up this high standard of comfort? It's probably true to say that this site is not for those who need all their entertainment laid on for them but for the many families like ours who are happy to spend our time playing games on the huge playing fields, paddling in the beautiful, shallow stream and wearing the kids out in the very well equipped adventure playground, it's pure bliss!

June 2002 I know that everybody is entitled to their opinion, but I was amazed to read the above couple of reviews. We stumbled across Limefitt almost by accident, and was totally amazed by the beauty of the site.
I can certainly not say that the above opinions are incorrect. Far from it, especially as we do not have any children. But I would like to state our findings.
The staff were friendly and efficient on arrival. I never even gave the warnings a second thought as we drove into the site. We found our pitch easily, and again, never even thought about the toilets having a code on the door. We have been to many sites last year who also had a similar security.
One of our main criteria for judging camp sites is the quality of the showers and toilets, and these certainly could not be faulted. They were superb.
We were there probably during the worst weather of the last June. There was a howling gale and torrential rain for virtually the whole of the 3 days. However, this was not a major problem as Limefitt is the only site that we visited last year which had a purpose built kitchen. It is basic but clean, and you simply put 50 pence in the meter for gas. An excellent idea.
Maybe the shop was closed, and Limefitt is a fair way from any other civilisation. But the bar was open and busy (maybe this was weather related!!) But it certainly was not £4.00 a pint when we were there, although to be honest I can not remember the drink prices – implying to me that they were ‘average’ prices. And neither did we eat in the cafe, so we can not comment on the prices of food.
We have not been back there since simply because we have a boat which we launch on Windermere. We asked if they would accommodate the boat overnight for any future trips, to which the answer was ‘no’, and they were certainly not going to budge on this matter. I found this disappointing as there was certainly enough land to be able to hide it away from the main pitches. I also believe the comment about not taking dogs is true.
Would we go back? We certainly would if we did not have the boat with us. To us it was a superb site. If you don’t believe us, turn up without booking on a summer weekend, and I bet you can not get a pitch!
But each to their own!!

August 2002 I have visited this campstie on many occasions, the most recent being at the beginning of August 2002. This is a wonderful campsite offering many facilities and is enjoyable for both a short stay and a longer holiday. I would thorougly reccomend this site to anyone staying in the area as it is picturesque and relaxing.
The usual tourist amenities are right on your doorstep as are the Cumbrian hills if you prefer the peace and quiet of a day walking.
Brilliant - you would be mad not to go!
