29/05/04 to 02/06/04 2 Adults and 2 Children 8yrs and 4 yrs Very impressed with this site. Excellent, child safe location. Beautiful views all around. Pitches a touch small, for our 6 berth tent anyway. Plenty for the kids, adventure playground and small shallow rock pool for paddling (bring your wellies/flip flops kids), football pitch and tennis nets in big open fields. There are excellent walks either side of the campsite. Nice one runs up from behind the pub, shop. Pub nice and not at all intrusive. Decent grub and nice pint. Shop pretty well stocked. On site takeaway (basic) Located between Ullswater and Windermere. Thoroughlly recommend it. Even better if you get the good weather as we did.

July 2004 FANTASTIC: location; views; facilities - particularly with baths for toddlers; well stocked shop; great adventure playground and river pool; open fields for playing GOOD: Good on-site pub, friendly reception staff, well laid out superpitches for bigger tents (with water & electric). NOT SO GOOD: Centralised booking office takes all authority away from reception staff and there was a number of mess ups with this during our stay - including our pitches. Some pitches are also very small and crammed together, it's worth specifying a larger site if you've a big tent. Takeaway prices unrealistic - sausage & chips £5.95 !!
All in all this is a gorgeous site and will definitely become an annual pilgrimage for us. Well recommended !

July 2004 Just back from our first family camping trip. Spent 4 nights at Limefitt and it was fabulous. Site was well kept, with the mower coming out twice during the time we were there. Site has a friendly feel to it and everything is well placed. Best bit was the shower block, complete with hairdryers! And they were free - for a canny Scots person that counts for a lot!
Well-stocked shop, reasonably priced. Laundry facilities good too.
Tried to book in for an extra couple of nights (over a weekend) but they were fully booked, so I'd definitely recommend booking in advance.
We will definitely be coming back to this site next summer

Half term June 2004 Our first impressions of the site were fantastic as the location is spectacular. We had booked a super serviced pitch and it was certainly very spacious. We had a takeaway on the first night but unfortunately I had to wait half an hour for it to arrive and then it wasn't that nice. The cleanliness of the toilets could have been better and toilet roll often ran out. However we will return, the location, play area, riverpool far outway the above negatives. I also noticed that in the brochure it stated no cycles, scooters, scateboards etc, but loads of people had them and no one objected - so take yours!!

May 2004 Stayed here for two nights recently and had a fantastic time. Very nicely laid out site with beautiful views.
My three year old son loved playing in the river and found plenty of things to keep him entertained.
Facilities were really good too, can't fault them in anyway.
My only negative point was the on-site pub, it doesn't have much character but I suppose it sells beer!!! One mile up the road is one of my favourite pubs in the Lakes, The Queens Head Hotel. Great food, real ale (Jennings Cumbrian Ale) for those that like the real stuff.
Can't wait to go back in July

May 2004 Our first visit to this site and we were very impressed! The toilet facilities are clean and warm and showers are free. We were initially apprehensive as it seemed a bit too organised! We were also given a very small pitch that would not have been big enough for our tent - but the friendly staff soon sorted this out. there is a large adventure playground for the kids and a shallow river section that was safe for them to play in. The shop was well stocked and reasonably priced and we will return in the near future! The on-site pub was handy but didn't intrude upon the park (no noise etc). But without doubt, the best bit is the fantastic scenery - you are close enough to pop into Bowness - yet well away from the hustle and bustle. A special thank you to the new mangeress who made us feel so welcome!

Easter Week 2004 Having a family of 4 (wife, 2 girls 3&6} we found this site a perfect pitch, as it is close to Windermere and Ambleside. All the site facilities are close to the camping pitches, showers and toilets are very clean, and the bar is very cosy although we had to wait a little while to be served. Having small children they loved the bar games room, adventure playground, ball on football field. The surounding views of the hills round the camp are great, and nice for walks. We also liked the idea that the main site gates to the road closed at 11pm to keep cars from waking people up. We will deff return to limefitt park in the summer.

24th April 2004 This is a really good place to go. Just what a campsite should be. Very quiet and peaceful but with good amenities. (shop, cafe, pub etc.) Toilets and showers are spotless and free. Water next to every (caravan) pitch.
Beautiful scenery and only a couple of miles from Windermere. We loved it.
One strange thing: the site is advertised as no dogs allowed and also says so on the welcome pack you receive on arrival. But they do allow dogs and even have a dog walking field.

June 2003 We have just returned from a weekend at Limefitt Park, myself , my husband and two children aged 4 & 7. We were supposed to go on Friday 27.6 but we didn't due to constant rain. It was our first time with the tent and we didn't want to brave it in the rain.
We finally arranged at 10.00am on Sat. 28.6 and the receptist was VERY helpful and told us to shout up if we needed help with our tent. I booked a super pitch as we bought a Khyam Espace Deluxe , also we had hook-up and water. The pitch was lovely , behind beautiful trees and loads of room between us and the people beside. There is a security code for the toilets which I totally agree with, the showers and loos were spotlessly clean(unfortunately there are many strange people around who have no regard for anybody else and therefore I think security is one of utmost importance --- especially with kids about)
The site was fantastic, gorious views, very friendly people and very helpful. We went to the pub for our evening meal as we were only staying for 1 night. The food was really nice and there was a games room for the Kids. Fortunately there is no organised entertainment of which I like so the pub was a nice family affair.
We had a wonderful time , the weather was good to us , being 23C for Sat and Sun. The kids loved it , there is a lovely stream to paddle in and an adventure playground. This site is really perfect , we tried to book for this August bank hols but as we suspected it was booked up and had been for some time. If you want to stay here it is better to book in advance. We noticed when we arrived this weeked there was a sign up saying that the site was full .
This was our first time camping and we are going to find it difficult to find anywhere as lovely as Limefitt.

Easter 2003 My family and I came across this site after 3 nights at a run-down caravan site where the showers didn't work and the electricity kept going off. What a contrast this one was! Lovely warm showers in a clean environment! The staff were friendly and helpful. The bar prices were most certainly average, not expensive! It was a bonus that there is a 'family' room and a 'games room' at the pub - very useful if you fancy a drink but have kids! I have a small child and he adored the playground and (shallow)river - we could have spent hours there and indeed we intend to when we have more time and visit again (soon!) I thought the rules about noise were extremely considerate and would have appreciated them even if I didn't have a child. The takeaway prices were also average and the food was decent. The shop was also open usual shop hours. All the amenities you could wish for, but the biggest bonus is that it is set in such natural surroundings in such a beautiful valley.
