Stopped here for a night on the way north to Scotland and then again on the way back.
Excellent facilities, easy to find the site, friendly staff, ideal stopoff point or to spend longer touring North Yorkshire & County Durham.

Wonderful site and facilities very well kept by super wardens. Thank you for a fab visit.
The site is slightly sloping so take a wedge or two.
Richmond has lots and lots to offer from interesting shopping to castle and walks. Do not miss the old station!
Enjoy

We visited here on our first stop of our journey the couple who booked us in were friendly and helpful we were given 4 choices of where we could put our caravan they were helpful with what was near to us.
The site was small but well kept toilet and shower block were amazing so clean. Would recommend this site and would definitely stay again.
We found the staff here so nice. No issues with anyone. Very helpful throughout our stay.

Convenient site just off the A66. It makes a good base for Swaledale and Richmond, but you ideally need to have a car to enjoy the area from the site.
Facilities on site have been recently modernised.
Nice site, lovely wardens.

As said in previous reviews this site is right on the A66, so some road noise. The facilities are brand new - all updated and kept immaculately.
Pitches are large, mainly hard-standing on gravel but a few grass pitches near the road and two in the middle of the site.
Nothing really close to the site other than the road, there is one walk down a lane but other than that its not ideal for walking, cycling.
Reasonably priced site at £17 for 2 adults with ehu, for us the proximity to the main road made it a one night stop over only

Just spent a weekend on this site. It's just off the A66 easy access from the main road. When leaving the right turn back towards the A1, can take sometime when busy. The site is south facing into a valley, some pitches do face the other way. The road noise from the A66 can be heard more at the top of the site.
The toilet block is the usual C.C. Standard but dated. But looks like it will be updated this winter. Richmond is 4 miles away with plenty of shops pubs ect. A farm shop (mains gill) is a few miles west on the A66, recommend the pork pies.
Will definitely visit the site again.

This is a lovely site, up to the usual Caravan Club standards. Nicely landscaped and a beautiful view over the valley towards Richmond.
Some sloping pitches as this is situated on the side of the valley, with some grass pitches which are not available all of the year. Small dog walk, but you can go down the hill to Gilling West where there are a few public footpaths available and a couple of pubs.
There can be some road noise from the A66 mainly near the dog walk, but not too bad.
Very popular on a weekend with a lot of one nighters breaking up the journey north or south.

A very friendly and informative greeting, yes there will be some road noise here as close to A66 but we chose a lovely grass pitch, slightly sloping but it didn't pose us any problems. An attractive site with lovely views, excellent facilities and lots of rabbits. Well placed for visiting Richmond and N. Yorkshire. We were given a map with a local 3 mile walk which was a nice touch and very enjoyable.

We have just returned from this site after a 3 night stay. This is a lovely area and Richmond is amazing - beautiful riverside walks and views - fabulous northern town with massive central parking market area with original stone setts. The fish and chip shop in the central square serves first class fish and chips. The site itself was clean and the views from our caravan window were to die for ! Yes there was road noise but the views from our south facing pitch made up adequately. We visited the local pub in Gilling west and were told of local history stories including ghosts of royalty from the past and Roman vases washed up from the river. We had brought our cycles with us but the experience of crossing over the A66 would instantly tell you to head in the other direction!
Overall a site worth more than a stop over - spacious pitches and fabulous north Yorkshire views.

Have to say I tend to agree with the more positive reports here, for instance; a site just 80 yards off a main arterial trunk road (A66 Scotch Corner to Penrith) is bound to have some road noise.
Site was less than 30% full in April despite being midweek immediately before Easter Bank Holiday. We took advantage of the choice and pitched on the lowest level a good 300 yards below the A66 and therefore had no road noise and I sleep really quite lightly. Access onto and off the A66 is excellent, even with a van on the back there is adequate room in the wide centre reservation.
Single toilet block, but more than adequate given the relatively small number of (well spaced)pitches. Toilet block quite adequate and clean, use of disabled toilets for all during the hour when the main body of the block is closed for cleaning. Most useful. Bins emptied regulalry and generally found the warden pleasant. TV reception good using van aerial only.
Out and about plenty to do, not far to Richmond which is a nice market town, not a run down as many with boarded up shops etc. Couple of decent pubs and an excellent chippie, non of which are in the market square, rather just off it. Also the falls are quite something, not as big or famous as Aysgarth's but very nice in their own right.
Finally there is the old railway station, beautifully renovated into primarily a cafe and from which starts a nice walk which can be (a flat) there and back or a super anticlockwise circle of about 3-4 miles via Easby Abbey.
