This is a nice site, generally level except for grassed area which is closest to road. Nice fenced in dog run where you can let your dog off their lead. Very handy for Richmond which is a very interesting old town. Would stay again, but be very careful when leaving this site to go to A1 as you have to cross the A66 which is very busy with a lot of HGVs. Only the day after we left this site two women were killed at this junction!

A lovely site, clean tidy and very friendly.

We visited with 2 young children and they were made very welcome, although there is no park at the site, its pitches are so big our children played close to the caravan quite happily, there is also a grass area for ball games etc.

The toilets and showers are the cleanest I have ever seen.

The wardens were relief wardens when we stopped and they were very helpful.

A lot of reviews mention the noise- it really never bothered us, many other places are worse and get no mention so dont let that put you off.

A lovely, well maintained site and the toilet/shower facilities are immaculate.

We chose a pitch at the top end of the site near the toilet/showier facilities.  These pitches are close to the A66 but we didn't find the traffic noise as bad as expected.

Not a lot on the site for young children, although while we were there the children, who were on the sight, entertained themselves with skipping, roller blading etc and weren't obtrusive or noisy.

Would say it is an ideal site for anyone who wants to visit the Yorkshire Dales.  Would definitely return to the site in the future.

An excellent campsite - clean, well maintained and with pitches that are well spaced.  You have a choice of hard standing or grass and can select your pitch on arrival.

Easy access to A66/A1 and really useful for an overnight stop going south or north.

Shower block spotless at all times.

Good dog walk which is fenced and relatively safe to let your dog run without upsetting other campers.

This is a lovely site in every way except for the road noise. The lovely grass pitches nearest to the one toilet block are also the noisiest, being only separated by trees from the A66; but if you're lucky you can get in at the bottom of the site. It's otherwise very peaceful, with immaculate toilet and shower facilities. A lot of people when we were there were using it as a stop-over on the way to Scotland, and it would be ideal for that; we stayed a few days and explored Swaledale from the site. Hargill House is perfectly positioned for visiting this lovely and quietest of the Yorkshire Dales, and Richmond itself is a joy. The village just down from the site has nice-looking pubs (though can't vouch for the food as we didn't try it) and makes a nice evening walk if you can face the uphill walk back!

We love to visit this this site as for us it is just a short drive from home and we are in such beautiful countryside. We find plenty to do in the surrounding area with Richmond and Reeth close by and also we enjoy walking so this area is ideal. Most pitches have good views and the site wardens ensure the toilet and shower facilities have been immaculate whenever I have visited. The only complaint people may have is there is a bit of traffic noise from the nearby A66 but we do not find this a problem. For people wanting to use it as a stopover it is also near the A1. If you like to eat out I would recommend the White Swan at Gilling West or The Shoulder of Mutton at Middleton Tyas we have enjoyed good meals at both. This was our third visit to this site and it will not be our last.

Not a lot to do if have a family but the standard of the site is of a high one. Wash, shower facilities are immaculate - friendly wardens.

We use this site as a stop over on our way to and from Scotland. Quiet a lot of road noise but a nice good quality site.
