I stopped here with a mate last weekend when it was clear we weren't going to get to our usual site before the gate closed at 10pm.
The site was OK, but nothing to write home about really. On the plus side the site it cheap at £5 a night and there is no need to book. The ground was flat and dry and the farmer who came to collect the money at around 7am in the morning was very friendly.
However, the site was let down by the facilities and location. The toilets were clean enough, if a bit rustic. The showers were quite disappointing - there only seemed to be a couple of them and they were quite cramped. Worst of all they operated using a push button and lasted all of 6 seconds before the button needed to be pressed again - this didn't result in a particularly relaxing experience. The traffic passing by the site spoiled the tranquillity a little, and could generally be ignored, but it was quite a long hike alongside the road to get to the nearest pub.
I'd probably go back to the site again if I couldn't make it to my usual one before the gate shuts at 10pm, but I don't think I'd bother otherwise.

Excellent place to stay if you want to look round North Wales.
Out in the country with no appreciable noise from the main road after 9 PM.
Watch out for noisy neighbours, usually young campers on an expedition, but if you have a word with them they usually keep quiet!
At £5 per night you can't beat it.
Owner MOST pleasant and helpful.

Very nice and scenic campsite, local amenities round the corner.
Extremely clean facilities, with lovely hot water supply all day every day.
The owners were very polite and mindful of their customers, not a single bad thing to say
Would highly recommend this campsite to all.
Thanks again Dolgam Campsite.

Went here with family which was first time experience for them. Unfortunately is rained pretty much all the 3 days we went so doubt they'll go camping again but nevermind.
This site is near the main road but if you go near the river at the back it's very quiet and also near the facilities.
Now this is a very cheap site. £5 per person and no extra costs for anything else. Probably the cheapest site in the UK as prices have really gone up over the past few years.
Facilities aren't great. I thought they are ok but everyone else thought otherwise. They are very dated and if the site was full and I do peoples view that they aren't adequate. The main reason being that to wash the dishes is 1 sink which is outside with no cover. So if it does rain then you'll do it in the rain but probably queue to use the sink as well. OH BUT! showers are free and lovely hot water! which is a huge plus.
It's close to many places so I thought it would be ideal.
Now personally if you like roughing it a little more then this is a good site but only for short trips. I couldn't stay here for a week just due to facilities not being enough.
I would however recommend this site but as stated above. The owner is extremely nice and he does clean the toilets religiously! I saw him at 7, 8 and 9 and he might have been more!

Another visit to this great campsite but this time it was let down by a large group of mostly females on a Boot Camp (Ultimate Bootcamp UK), the level of noise throughout the night(music & shouting was appalling) considering they had set their tents up next to families with children. School and D of E groups don't behave like this.
This is a great site if you want to enjoy the local area, the farmer works hard to keep everything running smooth and maintaining very clean facilities. Unfortunately on this occasion an irresponsible group that had no respect or consideration for others let the site down.
Best thing the owner of Dolgam could do is restrict this group for future visits to maintain the appeal of this site.

Stayed for one night at this fantastic site, I had been past this location many times before and decided that I would use this as a base for exploring Snowdon with my daughter.
Drove onto the site, read the sigh which states pitch where you like 5m apart, (Farmhouse across the road for any enquiries) pitched up and then spent the day exploring Betwsy-Coed, farmer comes around early evening and again in the morning to collect money and clean toilet block etc. Very friendly and as mentioned in other reviews always giving advice on the weather and places to visit.
Site itself is spacious and pretty level with a hard core track running semi circular to the toilet block. We decided to pitch close to the wall at the rear of the site using a combination of wall/car and trees which flanked the stream running alongside the site to cover us from the weather.
Daughter loved the stream, and the facilities although basic were spotless and plentiful with plenty of hot water available for washing/showers.
Nice and quiet location, hardly and road noise and the Sherpa bus stops right outside the site entrance.
Will definitely stay at this site again, I would have liked to bring my dog, but understandably it is a working farm.

This is what a campsite should be, good clean toilets & Showers, lots of space and people all doing the same thing; enjoying the great outdoors and not watching TV all day.
If you want to get away from it all and just relax in beautiful surroundings this is the place for you. If you want music and all the trimmings of a party site stay away, this is a great base for any trip to Snowdonia.

I stayed here about 10 years ago and always liked it, so last week (April 2014) took my two boys (7&4) there for two nights and no surprise we all had a great stay, total cost was £20 for the two nights which is super value!
the camp site is nice with flat pitchs and the river was a source of great joy for my two boys! the toilet block is basic but very clean! and it gets a full clean twice in a day and there is always toilet roll and plenty of hot water in the showers, there is also a pot wash on the side of the toilet/shower block which is really handy.
The farmer and his wife are really friendly and gave me some really good tips on places to take my kids, all in all its a great camp site close to Snowdon and what's even better is there are no caravans! I know we will keep going back for years to come.

Good campsite. We stayed for 2 nights during the bank holiday and we didn“t have to book in advance as there is always space. The place is really good, toilets and showers are very basic (only 2 showers) however always clean and with toilet roll and hot water.
The owner is really friendly and advises on weather for the days you will be staying.
Place is well located, only a few minutes by car to Swallow falls. And with lots of local walks to do.
Really good campsite and very cheap! we will very much like to go back there

Stayed with husband and 2 kids. Lots of choice as to where to pitch but beware too near river in wet weather, rose by the minute one day, scary for those pitched near it! Better to pitch near the wall as those pitched there faired a lot better in storm we had.
Facilities are basic but very clean and showers are hot. Outside sink for washing up. Will just reiterate the need for a torch, there is no electric to the facilities.
The children enjoyed the size of the field for football/kite flying/tennis/riding bikes etc and the river for paddling (not enough sun whilst there to brave swimming!) and throwing stones in.
Farmer very friendly, collected money either early evening or in the morning. Currently £5 per person (inc kids).
Pizza place (poss only open thurs to sun?)5 min walk up road towards Capel Curig, carry on up road for Tyn y Coed hotel which also has food and reasonably priced washing and drying facilities.
Betws y Coed has largish Spar shop and Londis and plenty of cafes/restaurants but too far to walk for kids regularly (did it one day, took 2 hours, despite only being 2-3 miles by car!).
One last thing: MIDGES! (and the odd mosquito). Take loads of spray or wear a net, they are ravenous there! Spar shop sells local made, natural repellent, didn't try it as only saw on last day but wished now I had.
