My friends and I have been stopping at the site regularly for 11 years! When we first started coming there were only cold showers available! The showers are now hot and still free, but sometimes you have to wait a bit as there are only two. However, there are cubicled basins so you can have a good wash in private - a good thing that not all sites have despite most having unisex bathrooms! The site is level and next to a clean river that is great for swimming in when the weather is warm. Pitches next to the river go first! There is a pub less than a mile up the road which easily walked to from the site. There is a stop tap with drinkable water, plenty of bins and washing up facilities (with hot water). Arthur, the owner comes around to collect your fees in the morning and has always given us a reliable weather forecast at the same time. Fantastic location for walking the major mountains in Snowdonia or if you want to follow the river walk from Capel Curig to Betws-y-coed that takes you right past Swallow Falls (and you don't have to pay). A great site, in a great place for a good price!

This is a great site. I endorse the earlier review. We found a space here after passing lots of 'camp full signs'. Really friendly owners. Nice people on the site. No noise. Nearest pubs just over one mile either way so far as I could work out. Great views. When we arrived on the Monday mots bank holiday people were going home so there was no queue for the toilets or showers. Basic well run clean site for people wanting peace and quite.

Just returned from two nights here. A lovely site, although toilets and showers are very basic. The toilets and showers are very clean but like I say "basic", so don't be expecting luxury, plus there is only two showers, although they were free and hot, a little annoying is the fact you have to keep pressing in the button for the water to come out which only last for 4 seconds, so you spend most of your shower with one hand on button. Also would not advise pitching tent near road as can be a bit noisy, would recommend pitching near the river, which was great my husband and children were swimming in it all over the weekend, (yes it was clean). Although quite busy noise was minimal, but would like to say thank you to the couple who arrived on Saturday night at about 11pm, eventually got there tent and then decided to turn the volume up on the car stereo. Grrrrrrrrrrrr, mu husband politely asked them to turn it down, which to be fair they apologised and turned it of. Anyway would recommend this site it was £4 per person and no reduction for children.

August 2004 I have just returned from an August bank holiday weekend away here. Pitch your tent correctly and wake to impressive views of Moel Siabod! It is a fantastic location with Capel Curig just 'down the road' and a great base for a keen walker like myself. But a good location generally. The site is flat and a river runs by the side. The site asks for 5m distance between pitches, but being the bank holiday, this was considerable less, not suprisingly, it was very busy. There is one utility block, with free hot showers (but few and therefore long queues). Despite the busy nature of the site, noise levels were very reasonable. Owners friendly and have a B&B across the road as well. I've stayed here before and will do again, even in the height of summer!
