We had a brilliant 3 night stay at Magor Farm. We drove through the gate to the second field where we had masses of space. It was a bit of a walk for the toilets, showers and washing up, but there were only about four other families in that field while we were there so it was really quiet and private. It was busier closer to the facilities, where the electric hook ups are, but each unit had plenty of space and of course, it was more sociable. There were no problems with noise - it all went very quiet once it was dark.
There were loads of showers and toilets. As others have said, these are quite basic, but we they were cleaned regularly and there was plenty of loo roll and hand soap. The showers were piping hot and the ones I used worked for a long time each time you pressed the button. We never had to queue for washing up, although it was peak season and there were only a few sinks.
The woods behind the campsite are lovely and peaceful at this end, away from Tehidy Country Park. It was a bit of a scramble up from the campsite itself, but not far to bike or walk round to the proper entrance.
We went to Gwithian beach, but preferred Godrevy which had a lovely cafe in the car park.
The wardens of Magor Farm were really friendly and visited several times a day to take payments, answer any questions and give advice, or simply to have a chat!
We would definitely like to stay here again and have more time to explore the area.

'Camping and caravanning as it used to be'. As the site motto states, Magor Farm campsite really is like stepping back to a more innocent time of camping. The campsite itself is a long, tree lined field with EHUs along a portion of one side. These hook ups are greatly in demand, so will definitely require booking, but the rest of the site is first come first served.
The facilities, of which there are plenty, are definitely a little dated, but perfectly adequate. My only suggestion to the campsite owner would be to have slightly wider shower curtains in the cubicles as both my OH and I felt akin to burlesque performers, trying to hide behind narrow curtains that barely spared our freshly showered blushes from our fellow campers!
The friendly campsite owners and warden visited the site regularly throughout the day to collect payments from anyone who had driven in and pitched up since their last visit and happily collected any used freezer blocks that needed re-freezing back at the farm up the road.
There's a small play area for children consisting of a set of swings and a seesaw and these were both a huge hit with the children on site. The site itself backs onto the wooded part of Tehidy Country Park, so exploring amongst the trees and undergrowth was another very popular pastime.
The picturesque Cornish coastline is literally a few minutes drive from Magor Farm, with both Godrevy and Portreath beaches within easy reach. Aldi, Lidl, Morrisons and Tescos are all close by, so stocking up on provisions isn't a problem.
We spent a wonderfully peaceful and relaxing week here, enjoying the sunshine during the day and marvelling at the clear star filled skies at night. We wouldn't think twice about returning to Magor Farm and the bygone, no frills camping experience it provides.

As it was the Easter weekend I phoned before I arrived to reserve a pitch with EHU but it wasn't really necessary as there was only me and 3 other campers on this huge and flat site. The pitches for EHU are spacious and back onto a lovely little stream. A quiet country lane, shielded by trees, runs beside the site with very little traffic noise so it feels really sheltered and peaceful.
There's no Reception and you can pitch where you like. It was the next morning before the friendly owner approached me for payment but that was probably because after I'd set up I was out and about for the rest of the day. There's a utility block with the toilets/showers and 'laundry' which, because there is no washer/dryer is actually just a wash up area - all a bit dated but perfectly functional and nice and clean. I loved the deep sinks and wooden draining boards in the laundry. The hot water to here and the showers was a bit on the tepid side but did the job. Providing washing up liquid and some dish cloths would have been a nice touch but I had my own so it wan't a problem. Likewise, there's no hand soap in the bathrooms but again, no big deal.
The location is superb for exploring the area on foot and by bike. The site backs onto Tehidy Country Park and allows for a very nice stroll/bike ride to the North Car Park where I crossed the B3001 to access the Coast Path. I walked to Hell's Mouth (don't miss the fantastic cafe there) and cycled via the park to Portreath. From there you can join the Mineral Trail to Devoran. There is also a bus service to/from Portreath which makes it ideal for linear walks.
This is definitely a no frills site but that's reflected in the fees. If you need lots of facilities and constant attention - forget it. But if you enjoy simplicity, peacefulness and a wonderful feeling of freedom you could find no better. I'm already planning my return!

As per our previous review from August 2011 this is a brilliant site. The 'wardens' get 10/10 for being the best wardens we have experienced. Hook up pitches are large and level, rest of the site has no defined pitches, you pitch were you want to, but there's plenty of space and the vast majority of the site is level or gentle slopes, some people chose to pitch on a slope, it's up to you.
Shower facilities etc are basic but clean, there is a good supply of hot water and no queues. Pot wash can get a bit busy, and the free spin dryer from 2011 was no longer there.
This year the pitch did get muddy, but the rain was rather persistent! Your right next to the country park, with loads of woodland, footpaths and cycle paths. On site there is a small kids park, a stream and lots of space which all make this a great location for a family holiday, especially with great beaches within 5 min's drive. The main road while out of view and can't be heard, is close and takes you to loads of locations quickly (well as quick as is possible in Cornwall!).
There is no shop on site but Tesco and Aldi are less than 10 min drive. There is no curfew, you are left to be sensible adults!
Generally the site quietens down around 10pm, after this you can often hear people chatting and even the odd laugh (some sites seem to discourage any expression of joy or verbal communication after curfew, but not this one) people don't speed about in cars and it is a very friendly and safe site. If you act like a lager lout though you wont get any 2nd chances from the wardens, so if loud music and drunken antics are your thing, this is not the site for you.
To conclude, great value family camping the way it should be.

This was our first visit to magor farm and what a fantastic time was had by all. The children enjoyed the freedom of being able to roam around in the woods and play in the stream that ran behind our pitch.
Being able to pitch where you wanted was also great as we were travelling with another family, so were able to be next to each other added bonus was we were able to pitch a gazebo between both tents as space was not limited.
This site is very safe for the children which was good as we had a 1 1/2 year old with us, she was able to run around freely without us having to worry about speeding cars.
The toilet blocks and showers are basic but clean the only downfall was we were under the impression there was as spin dryer available but was not which with 5 days of rain and mud at the start of our 10 day stay would have been handy.
All in all we would definitely revisit magor farm again

This is our second time at Magor Farm, again, all good.
We were here for a week, luckily choosing the hottest week of the summer, along with another family. The campsite was very quiet when we arrived, but started to fill up as the week went on, still never had to queue to use the showers.
Everything is kept clean and tidy, the warden comes round 2 or 3 times a day to collect money or sort out any problems. As it was so hot we had to take ice paks up to the farm for freezing twice a day, this was never too much trouble for them.
The kids enjoyed the freedom of being able to explore the surrounding woods.
We took full advantage of the fabulous beaches in the area, Gwithian, Portreath and Porthtowan, also visited St Ives and St Michael's Mount.
We love the relaxed atmosphere at this site, being able to pitch wherever you like is such a bonus. We will certainly be back!

Short version of our review - we love this campsite
We stayed here for the 1st time for two weeks this summer with another family. We had both booked electric hook-ups so our pitches were reserved, next to each other as requested.
The level grass pitches were large, well drained, close to the hook up point and a water tap, The site is based in two fields in a sheltered valley next to the country park which provides loads of opportunities for walking and bike rides. On site there is a small children's play area which was enjoyed by many kids, a small stream to play in and plenty of space to kick a ball about, throw a frisbee etc
The washing facilities are a little basic but there are plenty of them and were always clean. The showers are free to use and were hot and powerful every-time we used them other than once when it was just a dribble. Some of the shower curtains need replacing and a couple more hooks in each cubicle would be great. There is a pot wash area with plenty of hot water also a spin dryer available to use free of charge.
There is no shop on site (which is just fine with us) or wardens reception. But the warden is on site several times a day, the warden and his family who empty bins, cut grass etc are very friendly and go out of there way to help you when asked. We had an Asda delivery to site the evening we got there, there is a Tesco about 5min drive away and plenty of other shops within 10 mins drive
There are no rules about been quite after a certain time, but at 10pm everyone quietened down and we had no problems at all, it was refreshing to be on a site where there were no oppressive rules and people were allowed to be sensible adults without wardens / owners policing your every move.
We had several lots of friends come and visit us on site and there was no charge for visitors. I had to return home for a few days during the holiday and the warden had no problem with not charging for one adult per night the days I was not there even though he was not told about this until after we arrived. In fact the warden is positively laid back about collecting your payment, as long as you pay sometime in the 1st few days he is happy.
There are at least two beaches within 4 miles and as you are only 5 mins from the A30 you can get to loads of places quickly. (you can not hear or see the main road from the site)
To summarize this is a great value site, in a good location, a friendly atmosphere and brilliant wardens and we have already booked for next year!

We had a family camping holiday to Magor farm and it was fab. The kids loved it very basic but all you need. W
e chose a spot away from the facilities as it was bit quieter at night! Overall a very pleasant stay and will definitely return.
Location very good not far drive from the beaches which are beautiful. Lovely little tea room just round the corner from the site.
The staff all very friendly definitely a location I would recommend if you have children not a location to go for if you want peace and quiet at night!

We have just returned from another lovely stay at Magor Farm Campsite. The area is lovely and close to many beauty spots including Tehidy Country Park which the site backs onto.
The campsite itself has no reception however the friendly farmer is on the site daily. It was really pleasing to be able to roll up and find your own pitch.
Toilets and facilities are clean and well maintained if a little basic but this is reflected in the excellent tariff charged for camping £12 for car and 2 people.
We chose to set up in the quiet end of the campsite which was some way from the toilet/wash block. This was a wise move as the toilet block area was a bit like a commune.
It seemed to be very busy from late afternoon, buzzing in fact with the majority of campers using large smoky campfire BBQs, people standing about drinking, music playing and children were everywhere.
This would appeal to a certain camper I am sure and I get the impression these campers come again and again in large family groups. There are lots of quiet spots to pitch at the far end of the site and they are level and sheltered. We will return again I am sure!

A lovely quiet campsite in a nice peaceful area, not far to drive to beaches, shops etc.
No organised pitches, so able to pitch wherever we liked and take up lots of space without anyone minding, we were in two family groups and were able to be next to each other and spread out!
Bins were emptied several times a day, so no overflowing rubbish around the toilet/shower areas.
Showers and toilets were adequate and clean, although we have stayed at sites with better facilities.
Only small gripe was that there was no freezer for ice packs, although the site warden would take them up to farmhouse to freeze for you if you asked, just a little inconvenient.
All in all a nice site, would stay here again, but maybe not first choice.
