 Pre erected tent

We stayed in pre erected tent for a week 4-11aug there were 2 families in 2 tents.

The tents were dirty, the surroundings by the tent were covered in stinging nettles (not great with 23 month old)- after calling maintenance out to ask for these to be removed a man simply came and thrashed them with a bat! and left them their in the grass. Second tent mattress was wet and maintenance took it away as it was unneeded but no one contacted us to apologise. The no noise policy after 11pm was not adhered to by the 3 families booked in the 3 tents opposite us and both the parents and children were feral to say the least! The portacabin showers were ok the beginning of the holiday but were self clean so by Thursday they were hair clogged. The older showers nearer camping area were awful - the posher showers were nicer and had a bath - however there was no plug!

The kids and hubby enjoyed the entertainment one night however it was overpriced and outdated cabaret fun.

I personally would not stay on this site again in a pre erect tent or as a camper due to the sheer noise of other campers. Nodes Point really do need to patrol and clamp down on the unruliness as this should be the perfect family holiday site.

The beach at St Helens and the views are perfect and we enjoyed a bbq on the beach.

This is our third visit to Node Point in 5 years.

There are good and bad points to this Park Resorts site.

LOCATION.

Top of the good points has to be the location of the site. I feel it is one of the best on the island. Overlookig bembridge harbour and The beach at st. Helens is fantastic and the children love this for the swimming / snorkelling and crabbing.

If you like a beach for body boarding and waves. I am afraid this is not the beach for you!. This beach when the tide is in, has calm clean and clear water. If you are into sea kayaking or fishing. Bingo!. We caught 21 sea bass one evening on our kayak, out near to ST Helens fort.

PITCH.

The site I found was relatively quiet in the evenings. Pitches were of a decent size, Although a little soft this year, due to the inclement weather we all have experienced.

TOILETS.

Toilet block is large and relatively clean, then only down side is a lack of places to hang/place clothes/toiletries while showering. Also people did shower straight from the beach which ment there was quite a lot of sand around at times. Never too busy later in the evenings and always hot.

BAR/ENTERTAINMENT.

We only went up to the club house once, and this was enough!. Dated, drab, dark. The prices were inflated and the place needs a full overhall!.

Enough said. Never went back!nothing has changed in 5 years.

SPLASHPOOL.

Now this has been updated since we were last there in 2010. And I must say it is much better than it was before. Gone is the smell of mouldy wet ceilings and they have made it a much nicer place to have a splash around.

We found eating out to be a costly affair on the island, with portion sizes very small even for the kids.

One place you must go tho, is Baywatch on the Beach (st helens beach)for the thai Mussels and gourmet burger!. To die for.

All in All it is a good site, in a fantastic

Location if you like a beach holiday with the kids. Use the site as a base. And you will not go far wrong. !

The weather was awful the week we went and we weren't exactly looking forward to camping but we could not have asked for a better holiday. Facilities are great. The indoor pool was lovely and warm and the kids aged 4 and 11 both loved the kids clubs. Evening entertainment was great especially for the kids and meant we could enjoy meals and drinks in peace! we enjoyed the entertainment too but what really made the holiday was the friendly staff, going out of their way to make time to chat to the kids and made the holiday more enjoyable. We brought a lot of our own food but almost wished we hadn't as the food here was great for adults and children and very reasonable. The surrounding area and beach was particularly beautiful and the whole park, pool and shower facilities were all really well kept and clean. 100% recommend this park

WE found this site from our visit to the Isle Of Wight in July when we visited the beach. The pool is good but probably a little small in peak times. Food is reasonably priced on site and good portions.

Entertainment is ok but found it pretty much the same thing every night and even our kids got a little bored on the odd occasion. Drinks at the bar priced as you would expect from these types of parks.

The beach was the main attraction for staying here in the first place. Really nice, Hubby went fishing while me and the kids went crabbing it was really good and the weather was really nice that week. The restaurant/cafe on the beach is excellent food pricey but well worth it.

We stayed in our tourer the pitch was of a good size, and the toilets/shower facilities were fine.

There are plenty of attractions on the island within a short drive and with reasonable family rates. We really liked our overall stay at this park and would not hesitate to go back. Would consider staying for our main 2 weeks holiday as has everything we need to make a good enjoyable holiday especially when the sun shines.

Lovely site and will return. Staff were really friendly, the pool a little small but very well kept and well staffed with life guards. The location on the island is excellent, with lots to see locally if you are willing to look.

Lots of places to eat locally, the closest chip shop we could find off site is about ten minutes away. Lovely walks directly to the shore from the site, and you can hear the waves beating the shore from your van.

This is the quiet end of the island, so a fair drive for some of the attractions, but to be honest, no where is that far away on the Isle of White.

Really relaxed on this holiday, and found ourselves wondering down to the shore in the evenings to chill. Dog friendly beach, and a small area of moorland behind it to let the dog off of the leash.

Shower and wash room facilities were good, but could do with a update. Not sure if it was because the attendants were cleaning with a dirty mop, but smelt quite damp on a few occasions. They closed the windows up every night, so I opened them up a couple of times which seemed to clear the smell. Probably just needs better ventilation. But like I say, pretty clean.

Cost in October for the break was acceptable, and the site only one third full, so nice and quiet.

All in all excellent.

Would recommend.

Had a fab holiday again at Nodes Point.

We have always stayed here in static caravans.

This year we decided for the first time to go camping.

Fab time had by all.

We stayed in the lower field and found it to be fine.

Yes there were bunnies around early in the morning but this is nature and expect to see this on many sites.

We used the portaloos and found them to be clean.

Yes the floor got dirty but you would expect that especially as we had had some rain.

We found all the amenities to be fine and the kids enjoyed the pool and arcades although we had to leave the arcades due to the heat.

The beach is gorgeous with rock pools when the tide went out.

We watched the local council early one morning cleaning it which was pleasant.

The only fault I would have with Nodes Point is the noise level of some teenagers camping.

We had some arrive next to us and they were very loud until 2/3 in the morning. Maybe I am just getting old.

All in all a great park and very reasonably priced.

Already booked for next year and cannot wait.

Just got back from 5 nights here.

Positive

- excellent location, camped in lower field and a stones throw from the beach and lovely walking with dog over 'The Duver'. Swam in sea every day, while kids were crabbing and building sandcastles etc.

- on site bar was handy in the rain and is friendly with decent pub food, also good cooked breakfast on last morning

- new toilet block was clean and functional with excellent dish washing area

Negative

- Crowds of teenagers by lower toilet block, and walking past tent every night.

- large noisy groups of campers till small hours every night wouldn't be quiet, even when asked

- pool tiny compared to pictures

Glad to be home to get some sleep - if only I could find a quiet, basic site in same location.

Just returned from a week at Nodes Point. The site is what I'd call lively. There are two fields, one nearest the beach entrance and one further up the hillside. We camped in the overflow field at the top as the main field lower down was completely packed!

I can't comment on the quality of the lower field for camping but our first impression of the upper field is that it was nearly impossible to find a spot to pitch on which was even remotely level. Second was that the field seemed to be covered in some kind of animal poo (which we later found out to be rabbit droppings as the site was overrun with them in the evenings).

Aside from the location and the glorious views over the bay and beach, I really don't feel this site had that much to offer. The grass was long and the field was uneven, with many large rabbit holes and sharp twigs and weeds sticking up making it nearly impossible for our 2 children to run around barefoot safely outside. As mentioned in previous reviews, the main toilet block at the top of the camping fields was lovely and new with a lock to stop non-site beach users from using it. I only used the portaloos by the beach once and that was something to be avoided thereafter!

The site had no noise curfew and our first night the site didn't get quiet until gone midnight. Most nights young children could be heard running around screaming until gone 11. On our last evening, teenagers were noisily partying in the lower field until gone 3am.

The dirt/gravel path from the main static caravans cut down directly through the middle of the camping fields ensuring there was always plenty of foot traffic through day and night. On our last evening, a group of drunken men threw a beer bottle at our neighbours tent while they were sleeping inside with their children. They were seen running off up the main path to the static site.

Security patrols were visible but they didn't seem to come at any set intervals. There were no fire extinguisher points either that we could see - we only noticed when someone camping further down the field accidentally tipped their disposible bbq over.

There was nowhere to freeze any ice packs but the reception desk hires their own blocks out for 20p a day and £1 deposit. In the end, we stuck with ice cubes as the trek up the hill was just too far for our tired legs!

We didn't use the kids club as our camping neighbours said it wasn't anything special. We did however use the pool and it was adequate but dated. There was no drainage in the pool area so the lifeguard had to stop people using the slides at regular intervals to sweep the large puddles of water back into the shower areas.

The on site pub was pleasant and the meal was good value. The on site shop was open at decent times and stocked more than most camp shops do. It also didn't seem to run out of essentials (bread, milk, etc) as the day went on which was good.

Also on site was horse riding/trekking which came as a surprise as it didn't seem to be advertised anywhere else. For £25. 00/person you can have a little lesson and a trek around the campsite afterwards. We didn't do this though but it always looked busy and popular.

The highlight of the location is the Baywatch Cafe on the beach. It is pricey however the food was exceptional and offered the best seafood I have ever tasted but also offered a variety of non-seafood options also home-cooked to perfection. The kids menu was also a hit.

I don't think we'd camp here again unless they invested a little more into making the site as good as the beach location it is sat by.

Just got back from 5 nights at Nodes Point and absolutely loved it. Pitched on the upper part of the camping field for a perfect view of the bay. Only really used the newer upper Toilet block and found these to be excellent and well maintained. Large showers and warm but not much room to change. Could halve the shower tray it was that large!Excellent washing up facilities also enclosed in the block.

Never really used the club although the kids enjoyed the arcade and the food we had in the Harbour bar was lovely. Pool was small but as we booked out of the school holidays, was never busy and was lovely for a morning dip. Loved the beach and walked it most mornings. Kids loved Crabbing!Had a pretty wet week but on one of the sunnier days went to Shanklin and the beach was great. Great location as don't have to travel far for many attractions. The shop was fine, but large Tesco 5 mins away. Would definitely visit again as went for the views and didn't disappoint.

Just returned from a week camping on this site. Our family consisted of 2 adults a 2yr old and a 5m old baby. We have mixed reviews about this site. The site is situated next to a great beach and on the shore there is a beach cafe which serves great food and drink( bit pricey but you do pay for quality) would strongly recommend.

As for the amenities on the site we found them to be varied in standard.

The bottom camping site has a temporary toilet block as the old one is being refurbished. This temporary block gets used by everyone returning from the beach and was at times found to be dirty. The best toilets were the ones at the top of the hill as they were new and kept very clean.

The shop on site holds all your everyday needs and can be a bit pricey.

The club house we found brilliant for keeping our 2yr old happy and the regular evening entertainment seemed to be suited for families which was brilliant. The food from the club house was cheap and cheerful and the beer seemed to be fairly priced.

The children's play park was a bit of a walk from the bottom campsite up the hill and was of average standard (nothing special)

As for the pitch we were given we thought it was ideally suited for access to the beach, but we did have to put up the tent on muddy ground as it seams that as soon as you leave the same day some one else goes on the same pitch not allowing the grass to repair itself. Also on the last night our neighbours had a run in with a rat which broke into their tent.

The Site does allow large groups of people and this was noisy at times. We went to reception to report this and was told security carry out regular patrols and also they have a mobile that you can ring if you have problems.

Our review does seem to have a lot of negatives but all of them need to be mentioned. This campsite is a family based and is in an area that has plenty of activities to be done; would recommend Robin Hill country park and Sandown beach as well but would not recommend Black gang chine as it seams nothing has changed in about 20yrs.

When booking we found booking the ferry was cheapest through the campsite as they have a very good discount for Wightlink ferries

As for returning to the campsite lets just say who knows!
