Awesome !
The view is without doubt the best we have ever had from our caravan.
On a hill overlooking the sea. Stunning.
The site is run by Meurig who let us select out pitch and then brought us a picnic table ( which everyone gets)
Showers are roomy clean and hot.
There is a lovely walk into the village along the sea front.
The star of the show is Huw who at nearly 90 will drive around the site making sure all is well and cracking joke after joke.
This is our go to site now and we will be back there for the August Bank holiday weekend.

I stayed 3 night's in my little Romahome & was charged £60 -it would have been £75 with electric.
Yes- great views! but is this a record for the price??
1 sink for washing-up, 2 showers, 3 hand basins. Use of freezers for ice packs & 1 extremely smelly green fridge!

Fantastic quiet campsite with amazing views over Newport bay. Owner is very friendly. Facilities basic but adequate. Great walks along the coastal path from the campsite. Some great pubs in Newport for food.
Absolutely loved it.

This has instantly become one of our favourite places on Earth.
The views across Newport sands are spectacular, and sunset here is a real treat.
3 very good sized fields available, the main field being more sloped than the others, is a bit more exposed to the wind, but also has the best views. Plenty of hookups across the site.
The heavy duty picnic benches available for your pitch are a really nice touch. BBQ and camp firepits available to rent.
The owner is lovely guy who has lots of local tourist info.
The shower/washing up facilities are basic but clean and well looked after.
If you want to try a bit of shabby chic glamping style, take a look at the loft bunkhouse!
This is a really great campsite in our opinion, and we will be visiting again.

Campsite is laid out well to make the most of the gorgeous view of the sandy beach below. Main field is sloping but has a few terrace areas for campers/caravans. Village of Newport is lovely with a few galleries and antique shops, a super grocer/ butcher and some nice dog friendly pubs. Very lovely area. Nice walks from the site-coastal walks and into the centre of village in 10 mins. Owners very nice and happy.
However the toilets, shower and washing up area were old and very dirty. Basic we can live with but not dirty. Looked like they had not been cleaned for quite a while and asking £20 a night was totally outrageous especially in October. What a shame as it seems you pay for the view and not much else.

They say if you find the perfect campsite, then keep quiet about it! Tycanol is a charming, basic and beautiful site overlooking Parrog Bay, it is a 15 minute walk into the village of Newtown where there are pubs, restaurants and cafes, and a 10 minute walk to the Boat Club which has a non members bar, here you can sit outside and watch the sun go down over the bay. A nearby campsite also runs a lovely tea room, which is well worth a visit. The site itself adjoins the coastal path which gives tremendous views and walks along the coast. Over the bay, which you can walk across at low tide, is Nevern, leading into rural walks and there is also an impressive golf club. The bay itself is accessible for all sports as well as the usual family enjoyment with plenty of rock pools, and beach space to keep everyone occupied. For info there is a small cafe, parking directly onto the beach and a nearby car park for which there is a daily charge. If this isn't your cuppa, there are plenty of little coves along the coastal path. The site itself is fairly flat, offering sheltered and open spaces. On arrival you are greeted by the owner who is extremely friendly and welcoming. You get a tour of the campsite and get to choose your pitch, subject to availability. He boasts that he doesn't like the site to get overcrowded so people can enjoy the space around them, and will even turn people away to keep it like that - so book in advance if you want to ensure a pitch. They do allow dogs, and you are expected to be a responsible dog owner. All pitches overlook the sea, and you get your own picnic table. We had a quick visit every morning to make sure everything was ok, this led to some lovely conversations about the local area and tips for good walks and places to go. One really enjoyable walk recommended to us was a four bay walk along the coast approx 6 miles ending at a pub called the sailors rest. From here you can get a bus back to Newtown or Parrog Bay if you don't fancy the walk back. (Dogs allowed on the bus). I read some reviews on other sites about Tycanol that complained about the facilities being inadequate etc. I found them very clean and more than adequate, yes they are a little old fashioned, but I rather liked that, and there was plenty of hot water. The showers are amazing, hot and powerful. They offer a freezer and fridge facility in a nearby barn, where there are also some old couches and a place in the centre to build a fire, perfect for evening gatherings. We paid £10 pp per night, some have complained this is expensive, a nearby site charges £12 pppn. We thought it was very reasonable considering the prime location. If you want 5 star luxury, this is not for you, but if you enjoy down to basics camping, a friendly atmosphere, fabulous views, and a large pitch then give this place a go, it's perfect.

Great views of Newport sands but unless you're prepared to wade the river Never at low tide, it's a good walk to the nearest bridge that'll lead you to the beach.
Campsite facilities are poor for the £20 a night. Cold windy toilets where you must collect your toilet paper before entering the cubicle as the cubicle is too small to hold the roll holder. Only cold water to wash hands. Showers only just acceptable. For the amount of vans, tents etc that this site take takes the facilities are not good enough. Spend a bit on an upgrade please.

The campsite has fantastic views over Newport Bay and is on the Pembrokeshire Coastal Path. There are plenty of pitches and even though it was a Bank Holiday when we camped there was plenty of space. The toilets and showers are cleaned every day and there is always hot water for showers and washing up. Drinking water is available at various taps around the site. Picnic benches are provided and there is a lovely barn 'The Cafe' where a fire is lit in the evening and campers can meet and socialise, sometimes with live music or Welsh singing. The owners, (and Trixie the dog), give everyone a very warm welcome, and sometimes a tot of whisky! A freezer is also available to use in the barn as well as a BBQ and gas burners. I would recommend this campsite to anyone who wants to 'get away from it all' and enjoy the beautiful Pembrokeshire Coast and all it has to offer.

This site is just fabulous. Yes, as some reviews have noted the showers and toilets are basic, but they are kept very clean, this is camping for goodness sake, not a 5 star hotel!
The views from the front two fields are magnificent. Then there is what I would call an overflow field, where there is so much room and is ideal if you want to be away from everyone. It is very relaxed here and the site owner is very accommodating, letting you choose your pitch to suite yourself. We paid £20 per night with hook up. (two of us in a tourer)which is about average for the area. The main field is on a slope with small terraces levelled off to site your rig.
This site is for those who want to be close to nature, with stunning views, it is not for those who want a swimming pool and club house with bingo in the evenings.
We are going back next weekend and this time will have a drink in the 'Cafe' (It's just a tin shed in fact) BYO and a glass. Really looking forward to it.
