Make sure you confirm the price with the owner before you pitch tent. We were charged £120 for two nights for two 4 man tents (4 adults and 4 children) which we felt was outrageous. The amenities are very basic and not that clean. The view is fantastic but the town is a bit of a walk away if you're not keen on walking too far. Also, much of the site is sloping so you have to make adjustments for caravans etc.
There is no playground for children at the campsite.

Very pleasant with a nice grandfather running on his Quad. :-)
We offer full scope for us to install. Countless opportunities ahead. Finally we choose the top of a field to a memorable and exceptional view on the sea
Tractor, the grandfather we will install a table and chairs for breakfast in the open air: a delicate attention which I welcome.
Electricity is introduced to international standards (taken blue).
Toilets and bathrooms are a bit 'fair' for the capacity of the land. But in DC it does not pose a major problem.
All this smells authentic camping and it was a real pleasure to browse the Coastal Trail at the end of the field to discover wonderful seascapes.
To recommend to lovers of naura, true. :-)

Being new to camping, this being our first camp holiday and not really knowing what to expect in the way of facilities etc, We were very impressed with Tycanol, Mr Harries made us feel very welcome. The site was very clean and tidy, facilities were more than adequate, we will definitely be visiting again in the near future, a hidden gem on the pembrokeshire coast.

Will be using this site again and would recommend the site to anyone. Facilities are basic but were spotless, the owner was very friendly and stopped to talk and check if everything was ok everyday. Views from the site are fantastic and the site gives easy access to the coast path. The provision of the picnic table was a nice touch. Look forward to returning in September.

I am sorry to see the negative reviews of this site - our experience was was that it is superb and I have no doubt that we will return. The views across Newport Bay are perfect, you get a huge amount of space and the owner comes round two or three times a day to make sure all is well.
Yes, the toilets, showers and washing up facilities are basic, but they are clean and free. The one thing that I think could be added without detracting from the spirit of the place would be drying facilities - rain is not unknown in Pembrokeshire! A modern toilet and shower block wouldn't come amiss but that *would* change the character for the worse. Our children love to make use of the play areas on campsites but there are so many things in the hedgerows to look at and so much space to run around in that they didn't even notice that there isn't one here.
It was quiet when we were there (Whitsun half term), I can believe that the facilities would be under strain if the site were busy and no, it's not the cheapest site - but you don't get that much space and that perfect a location for nothing. As others have reported varying prices I'll include that we were told that the price would be £20 for the caravan with 2 adults plus the camping rate of £7.50 per extra person, which would have taken us to £35/night but we were offered a price of £25/night - and no, we don't speak Welsh.
A thoroughly enjoyable week.
Take blocks and chocks!

This site saved our holiday. We were having a torrid time at another site on the Pembrokeshire coast which was too filthy for words, so deciding to up sticks and move, we spent a precious morning of our two-week holiday inspecting other sites on the coast. Tycanol hit the spot in providing exactly what we wanted. This is a well-maintained site, perched on the cliffs above the estuary of the Nevern at Newport, with direct access to the coastal path and really stunning views of the beach, cliffs etc. The facilities, though neither numerous nor new, were clean and well stocked, although I can imagine that in high season there might be queues (our visit was in September). Two showers with good flows and decently hot water, one washing-up sink, four basins, four loos (two for each sex), a couple of urinals and a disposal point were on offer along with drinking water taps etc. Hot water is included in the very reasonable off-season £7.00 per head/day we were charged (huge tent plus dog and hook-up included!). The owner of the site, Mr. Harries, could not have been more helpful and the regular visitors, many of whom appear to keep their caravans on site for the whole season, were welcoming and equally helpful (we got together with some of them for an impromptu BBQ in the shelter provided with free-to-use large gas-fired griddle plate and gas). We loved this place and will make this our base next time we are in Pembrokeshire.

Just spent bank holiday weekend at Tycanol and feel totally ripped off. It appears the prices were hiked up for the bank holiday and that we don't speak welsh! We paid £20 per night for 2 persons in a motorhome with electric hook-up however a friend of ours went there the previous week and was charged considerably less but he is welsh speaking. The toilets were without toilet paper for the greater part of the weekend and even though they advertise as providing a free barbeque we have never witnessed it. The showers could have been hotter. Yes the views are good but are they really worth all that money

Keep away ! The man is a nice man but if I receive £20 a night (£10 Ea ) I would be. Talking to ppl on the site it has not been up dated for 20 yrs. One small toilet block serving at least 6 acres of campers . This said block had plant life climbing though every orifice, lacked in paper and cleaning was just a quick hose down during 0830 and 0930 when we all want to use them. No other facility's are on the site. I was planning on a three night stay but moved on after the first night , my partner could not even face breakfast due to the smell from the local sewage plant. Three over parties also left the same morning due to the conditions.

A great site with stunning coastal views, adequate facilities and an owner who makes you feel good to camp on his land(a real Gentleman). Been to this site a few times now and it is one of my favourites as the location is ideal for coastal walks (coastal path just at bottom of site), nice stroll, via the lanes, into Newport for shops pubs etc. Walks / drives in the Preseli Hills and a great beach. I will never tire of this site.

I have been going to this campsite for the last 6 years, I have had great times. The facilities are fab and family friendly. The site owner brings you a large hand crafted picnic table and places it near your tent. It's on the coast path with great veiws of the sea. There is a beach within 10 min walking from site. Last year I was charged £12 for 2 adults and 3 children. Unfortunately this year to my great dissapointment there has been a massive increase in prices, I was charged £35 per night, £5 per person even for child aged only 3years. The owner was not prepared to negotiate and suggested I could move to a cheaper campsite as he was aware they were half the price of his. I was extremly upset as we have gone there so often and he has always been so friendly. He said that the cost of calor gas had gone up so much but we could not afford to stay.
