Just had super 4 days at this lovely quiet rural site. The two grass fields and facilities are very well maintained by the owners and their wardens. The very short grass was hardly affected by the morning dew. Even the large quantity of overflying private aircraft and jets queuing for Gatwick are no bother. A great location for a large number of local beaches, Chichester Harbour and the bus for Chichester with its shops and Cathedral, is just up the road.

Just spent 4 nights over the Easter Bank holidays. Was pleasantly surprised at the cost of £20 a night. The site is fairy level and a lot of time and effort has been put into the grass. The toilets and showers were clean and always had hot water. The showers did have a curtain but it was at least 6 foot away from the shower head so no clingy shower curtains touching you. It had a small laundry room washing machine was £2 and tumble dryer £1 to use. The weather was appalling on the Sunday and the field did get quite wet and we were asked to please not keep driving in and out to stop the grounds getting muddy if you did want to keep going out we were asked to park the car in a tarmacked area close to our van which we thought was a reasonable request. There is a large field at the back of the camp for the children to play and a great exercise area for dogs. We will definitely. Be returning.

We had a tent in the camping field, which also doubled up as the playing field and dog walking/toilet area! This was the only gripe; not good to see dogs doing their business when your eating your breakfast!
Very Friendly owner. They grow their own veg and we bought some, which were lovely.
Very quiet site.
Good showers/laundry/washing up, compared to some sites.
Site more geared up for touring vans/caravans.

This was our first camping experience with our Folding Camper. The site was easy to find and even the drive through the caravan storage area to reach the field was easy. The site is well maintained and the facilities are clean and well tended to. The owners were helpful. Noise levels at night were good and the plots seemed to be spacious. Although the site was situated away from the main beaches I would certainly use this site again.

Stayed here for 5 nights. A great site with a very helpful owner; he is around quite a lot but always very friendly and happy to move on if you don't want to get into conversations of any length.
The grass is amazing, so short & well tended which meant that, with the dewy mornings, the cut grass didn't stick to footwear and then get trampled into van.
The showers only have curtains and that's a shame as you can feel a bit vulnerable, however, they are kept beautifully clean - as is the whole site. The waste disposal area (recycling/grey water/chemical disposal etc) is well laid out and kept clean and tidy.
The site was quite empty for most of the week but filled up with camper vans on the Friday for the weekend.
The major down side for us was getting off the Siddlesham Road (where the site is located)onto the main A286 in order to go anywhere - the traffic travelling to West Wittering was so busy that we literally waited to be let onto the main road for 7 minutes one day. On the day we left the tail back from W. Wittering towards Chichester on the A286 was 2. 5miles.
Overall we are glad we stayed there - would we stay again - probably not but not because of the site but because of the road & access to the outside world!

Stayed here for a short break.
The owners are very friendly and welcoming, they store caravans and access to the site is passed the store and some ramshackle green houses but don't let this put you off.
The grounds are very well kept and there are two distinct areas, one for units and one for tents which also doubles as a play area with netted goals and a basket ball hoop.
Here was our only gripe in that this field was also used for dog walking and some irresponsible owners left presents too close to our tent for comfort an issue we pointed out to the owners.
The facilities are clean and the water nice and hot on every occasion, initially just two WC's and Showers looks a little low but we never had to wait to use any of them.
The showers have a curtain instead of a door
The grass is kept cut like a bowling green in all areas and it's quite peaceful although you can hear traffic noise from the nearby main road at peak times if you listen for it.
The Witterings Beaches are just 10 minutes away.
There is a decent local shop 5 minutes drive away and plenty of lovely pubs also within easy driving distance.
The shop could be walked too but it is just over a mile away so expect a minimum of 30-40 minutes walk either way.
The nearest pub is the Bell Inn again a good 40 minutes walk
Overall this is a lovely little site hidden away given great access to all the area has to offer - recommended

Stayed on Ellscott Park for 2 nights. 2 Adults and the dog. £14 per night. We stayed 2 nights.
On arrival there wasn't any one in the reception but there's a sign on the door saying to ring bell for attention. Owner came out and booked us in. Gave directions down to the tent field which is at the very bottom of the site. You have to drive through the caravan storage area and then you come to the fields. There is 2 fields, the 1st appears to be for caravans and the 2nd for tents.
Pros
- good size site. Not huge so you are never too far from toilets/showers but big enough so everyone isn't squashed together
- We had quite a bit of rain over night on the Saturday so sunday morning there was quite a lot of puddles dotted around the field - however when we got back to site later in day the field had dried out completely so the drainage must be quite good.
- The bottom field (where the tents are) has a large playing field area so kids (and big kids) can play football, tennis, etc
- The bottom field is also the doggy field. Dogs can go off lead here (but have to be on leads in rest site)although there are rabbits so if your a small fluffy chaser may be best stay on leads.
- Toilets and showers were clean and spacious. There is a bucket and mop, etc for you to wipe down any mess you make.
- Close to the harbour, marina, some pubs, cafes, etc and the amazing W. Wittering beach (by car, I wouldn't suggest walking unless walking is your 'thing')
- Site has Launderette which is in a shed. We didn't use it or go inside this so I cant comment on how good they were or what facilities they have on offer.
- Washing up area - again didn't use this but they do have one.
- There is a freezer (in the washing up room) where you can re-freeze ice blocks
- Plenty of bins including recycling
Cons
- The showers don't have doors, they have curtains to pull across and are in the main toilet block next to the sinks so I didn't really feel comfortable using them (I didn't use them)
- There isnt any sinks inside cubicles so if you want have a decent wash, brush teeth etc you have do it in front everyone in the toilet block
- At night (about 10pm) you can hear what sounds like shooting. I don't know what this is. It isn't very loud and I don't think it went on for long but if you have a child or dog that is easily spooked (like we have) just be aware!
- No shop on site or close by so if you want breakfast or a coffee in morning you have go hunt down the local corner shop or garage (there is one a few mins drive towards the witterings just before the round about)or bring your own supplies.
The owner was very present. Went around and 'checked' quite often, making suggestions about where to put tent and telling people not to go too fast through the puddles when they go out, etc. He wasn't invasive and was quite friendly. So I wouldn't put it as a negative point but some people might feel they are being watched.
Site is easy to find (from main road towards witterings turn left following the butterfly sign and follow road along. Site is on right) and you can see the signpost for the site as you come up the road.
Site location - 8/10 because it is quite a distance from any the local pubs, cafes, shops, etc
Site Facilities - 9/10 would like lockable cubicles for showering and 1 or 2 cubicles with sinks inside for washing and dressing.
Value - 10/10 £14 a night for 2 adults in June is very good. No charge for the dog. And the price includes tent and car too (some sites do charge separate for bringing the tent and a car)
Customer service - 9/10 Helpful owner. Didn't see any one else but some people would see him as TOO helpful.
Child friendly - 9/10 no play park or anything but there is a large field where you can play football or run around. No ball games in the main field.
Over all rating - 9/10 only 'issues' being the cubicle issue and the fact you have get up and drive up the main road to get a coffee or breakfast, etc or get to any the walks so if you are up early there's not a lot you can do until the rest the world is awake.

We stayed at Ellscott Park over the Diamond Jubilee weekend, plus a few extra days. Caravans are all in the first field, and tents are in a field of their own - a sort of large rec area where dogs can be walked. Probably around 60 units overall.
The site is extremely clean and very well maintained and the grass was worthy of a golf course! The owners are very visible and the entrance goes past their door. The owner was very present around the site during most of our stay and was very helpful if a touch abrupt. The site seemed to have a lot of regulars who all knew each other - so obviously popular.
The weekend of our stay had dreadful weather - rain, winds and the ground was very wet. The owners asked people not to drive in and out the site all the time and to leave cars at reception when the ground started flooding, but some people ignored this, much to the annoyance of the owner when the grass started being cut up.
There is a single toilet block, but I felt that with just 2 cubicles and 2 showers (in the men's) that it was a little small for the volume of people over the big weekend.
Pitches were very spacious - however the caravan field is just a field with electricity hook-ups. We were in the middle of the field and it all felt very regimented, with everyone in rows, so for this I'm going to give the site a 9, just from personal preference.
There's no shop on site, and not really much within walking distance. There is a marina nearby and some easy cycling. Many of the local footpaths were overgrown, and one of them went through a field with bulls. West Wittering beach is about 10 minutes drive, but beware that parking is £6 for the day!
Overall - this is a clean well maintained site. I probably wouldn't go back, because I prefer secluded pitches rather than being in the middle of the field and surrounded on all sides.

Myself, my husband, 2 young children and our dog have been regularly visiting this area of West Sussex for the past 5 years. We always stay on Ellscott park as we make use of their storage facilities - our tourer is stored there all year round and pulled out onto pitch ready for us to visit.
For 5 years we have been meaning to use it as a base to take our caravan on to other locations but have never managed to tire of the area, we have particularly fallen for West Wittering beach but love all that the area has to offer.
On short breaks we enjoy the Witterings, Little Hampton, Chichester, Hotham Park at Bognor and always a meal or breakfast at The Boulevard in Bracklesham.
In the summer holidays we've enjoyed the stunning South Downs, Arundel and Peppa Pig World at Paultons Park. There's so much to do in the area, so much we've yet to do.
We love Ellscott Park because it is small, friendly and relaxed. I have stayed on other sites where there seems to be an obsession with rules and unpleasant laminated signs posted all over the place that may as well say 'Please refrain from enjoying yourself at all times'! Ellscott on the other hand seems to attract the kind of people who are considerate of others while not being over fussy about a little music or children happily playing.
There are park rules but these are sensible and practical and centred around visitors enjoyment & safety. There have been several negative comments about the owners in other reviews, I honestly believe this is purely down to misconception. They work very hard, look after everybody and I feel are truly caring people you just have to give them a chance and get to know them!
The park itself is always kept immaculate, as are the toilet/shower facilities etc. There's a wonderful large camping field with goal posts in the middle where the children happily congregate and the doggies get to excercise.
There's no charge for shower facilities but I do find the shower block cold in our unkind british weather, the water pressure can be terrible at busy times and there's often a queue in school holidays and weekends. Personally I'd happily spend £2+ a time for a warmer more generous shower. Of course if only my husband would fix our on board shower my problems would be solved!
Highly recommended!

We recently stayed at Ellscott Park over the bank holiday. The site is very well maintained; the lawns immaculate and clean facilities - showers, toilets, laundry and washing up at no extra charge unlike some sites. I would think though, at full capacity, the two showers each for women and men may pose a problem. Always had hot water though.
We had read that one of the owners could be 'intrusive' and that people felt they were being watched but we didn't experience that at all. They were polite and helpful at all times. I could imagine though that disobeying the simple rules of the site may cause some campers issues! Plenty of room for kids - goals for football & basketball hoop.
The surrounding area is lovely, the beaches at the Witterings only 3 miles away with a few pubs closer still. Shops at East Wittering are great, Tesco, Co-Op and local bakers / butchers very useful.
We wouldn't hesitate to recommend the site to anyone.
