Grant, the site caretaker, was a fantastic host. He made us feel very welcome, and showed us the local sights to visit.
The campsite was perfect, with enough space for our tents and cars, and the rural atmosphere was exactly what we wanted down in Dorset.
Very close to all the sights and the town of Wareham, would HIGHLY recommend!

Under new ownership. The toilets and shower blocks are new and clean, plenty of mirrors and power points.
Nice relaxed site. Plenty of hook up points. Told to set up wherever I wanted. Lots of space for Kids to run around

I visited this site In May 2018 to find a site that is now under new management. I was surprised how enjoyable the stay was, great customer service, we had open fires although contained in a fire pit for safety.
The park was clean and is in a woodland backdrop setting, very quiet and peaceful place, there were ample Electric hook up points and the toilet and shower facilities were first class I have to say. There is also ample general washing up facilities.
After reading some of the reviews I was in two minds but glad that I stayed for a long weekend. Well done to the owner's who have clearly improved the park since the last review.

Do NOT visit this 'campsite'
It does have the potential to be a really great site. BUT, it is totally unkept, VERY shabby and unclean. Facilities are unsafe, unhygienic and completely unsuitable for young children, didn't look like the grass had been cut all summer and was just full of rubbish everywhere. The owner IS very enthusiastic about selling wood for fires though. In 25 years of camping I have never been so disgusted than I was with this 'campsite'
Would get 0/10 but it is in fantastic setting. AVOID.

Really really enjoyed the site, it was my 1st time camping in quite a few years.
Camp fires are allowed which was the main reason for choosing this site, however you do have to chop and get the wood for yourselves, the wooed store is good but be careful as there's lots of nails there.
Would go again without a doubt just a bit of a long drive from London
Good facilities,
Very nice, friendly and peaceful

We were very disappointed with this site. On arrival we found no Reception, just 2 gates, with a notice asking us to phone for someone to let us in and assign a pitch. Unfortunately there seemed to be no mobile coverage.
Luckily the owner appeared, apparently to do some work on the site. He was a very pleasant man who let us in and showed us where to go. We hooked up and looked around for the loos.
These and the showers were in what appeared to be converted shipping containers accessed by uneven paving. The looked quite clean, but were very shabby.
We had booked for 2 nights, and on returning the following day we found that the 'Ladies' was shut - apparently about to be repainted, but because of the rain this was postponed, but still no access. The only alternative was either the 'Gents'(!) or another small unisex building.
Not very satisfactory. The charge was £20 per night which for the lack of facilities, in my opinion was exorbitant.

This campsite is situated in a beautiful area of the country and there is loads to do. When we got to the campsite we rang the owner who came and met us. He seemed friendly enough and helpful. We could pitch where we liked and this was just as well because part of this site was under water. Granted we have had an extreme summer so far and I'm sure this isnt usually the case, but just something to be aware of if we get any further extreme weather. That said the pitch we had was not water logged and lush green grass. The other thing to look out for is red ants nests. There were quite a few around.
The site itself seemed nice initially but the standard of the facilities became really hard work by the end of our stay. They are ultra basic. We also had our 20 month old daughter with us and I didn't take her near them, as they just were not safe for her. They were situated in portacabins and were very high off the ground with very steep steps. The area around them was not safe at all, very uneven with bricks and paving which I slipped on twice. There is also a lot of 'scrap' of various kinds such as oil drums and scrap machinery.
The site fields look lovely and peaceful and were until the artillery started up. Unfortunately we spent most evenings listening to tanks revving and machine guns going off. I was even woken up at 1am one morning to heavy gun fire and could hear what they were shouting to one another, so they must be pretty close.
The campsite could do with better bin facilities. There is no recylcing at all which is unusual on sites these days. Also there are a lot of pallets and other 'stuff' littering the edges of the site (although not directly in the field we stayed in).
This site could be lovely with the facilities upgraded and a really good clear up, and as I said it is in a good location, but at the moment it just doesn't match up to others for the same price.

Arrived on the site to be met by the maintenance man who was not very welcoming and made it perfectly clear that he'd rather be elsewhere and we had just arrived on holiday, so not the best start.
The site itself was lovely, spacious and quiet but the facilities left a lot to be desired. The toilets and showers were housed in portable cabins.
The showers were small and the cubicles old. The area outside the toilet blocks was very uneven and wasn't lit at night. The refuse wasn't collected at all during our 8 night stay.
All in all disappointing. Apparently a new toilet block is on the the cards. The owner seems focused on the fires which cost £7 per person - we didn't have one. The area is lovely.

'Set in such a beautiful part of the Dorset country side, only adds to this campsite, as well as the picturesque views that surround you, Luckford wood offers a family, friendly, welcome.
A fantastic site that you can spend the day relaxing in the peace and quiet, or an evening chilling in front of an open fire having been out all day visiting local places of interest.
We have stayed at this site on two different holidays, it is clean and has all the amenities you would need for your stay.
We will be more than happy to stay here again as it only adds to our special holiday memories and we would recommend Luckford wood to anyone for a proper camping experience. It is expensive but we all love it and are planning a revisit next year.

I did not read the reviews before booking this site and I am glad for that, it was the most peaceful site I have been too. OK the facilities were not the best, but clean and in portacabins. But the site was far away from any main road and had free hot water for washing up and showering. I was thinking about not leaving a review so I could keep this little haven I have found, but that would not be fair to the owners. By the way, the site had woodland and you could make open fires. The site is pet friendly can child safe (it has two gates to get into the site).
