My Husband, my son and myself had a lovely four day stay here, there was only two other family's so lovely if you enjoy the peace and quiet. The views were amazing and fab to wake up to.
Its a very quiet site which suited us and also very basic with just one Portaloo and one cold water tap (watch the nettles around it!)The local Bay wasn't too far away, could be difficult and rocky in places but lovely once your down there with endless rock pools for the kids to explore.
Oxwich Bay was a short car drive away and Port Eynon was about 10-12 mins by car, both are great days out for the family. The local shop is in Oxwich and the cashpoint is in the neighbouring Village of Knelston and they are both pretty well stocked up on everyday essentials.
The only bad point is that the field is more on an incline that anticipated and it did make sleeping a bit awkward. Would I stay here again?. Yes, most definitely!

We stayed here in April/May for the May Day Bank Holiday.
On arrival Kate came and introduced herself and showed us where to pitch on a very basic quiet field, which is just how we like it and what camping is all about :)
The field is sloping in all directions, which makes for great views of the coast, but made sleeping a little uncomfortable.
At the bottom of the field are portaloos and there are a couple of fire extinguishers at the bottom and top of the field, which unfortunately have been used and so are not usable if there were a fire emergency.
We walked via the coastal path to the private beach which was a little tricky in parts but all good fun and the kids enjoyed the walk.
If you like old fashioned basic camping then this site is great. Nice, quiet & scenic.

As is made clear in the details, this is a very small and very basic campsite with limited level areas.
It is very close to the coast path and beach but these are not accessible directly from the site. Good views out to sea and a very quiet spot.
Toilets consist of portaloos at the bottom of the field.

We chose the campsite by chance, and what luck it was! We arrived quite late at night, and pitched up the tents before night fell, having warned the owners we would arrive quite late. The view from the campsite is amazing, but it's beauty was revealed to us the next morning with the sun shinning and reflecting onto the sea below from us.
The campsite slopes a bit, which means a great view of the Bristol Channel, but also means that we kept sliding down in our bed. To be fair, that would be the only downfall that we found with the campsite, and that wasn't much of an issue.
Kate, the owner as has been said, does at least one daily round to pick up rubbish and clean portaloos, and has been very friendly, inviting the kids to come and see the cows being milked and the calves fed, which was a great experience for them. Even though the Gower Peninsula is of outstanding beauty, we found ourselves quite happy to stay in the campsite not doing much.
The facilities are basic (potaloos and a tap) but that didn't stop us from staying 11 nights on site. The portaloos were clean but did get a bit smelly at times, probably due to the heat. Kate was however on call whenever something needed to be sorted. All in all, 5* rating is the least we could give it.
The other campers were really nice too, and our kids made friends in no time. This is a fairly small and intimate campsite, but gave a sense of camaraderie which I've not experienced in many campsites before.
The 'private' beach is outstanding, with lovely sand and great rockpools where we found an array of creatures, such as shrimps, crabs, starfish and young fish, etc, . The kids loved it! The sea was quite cold but again it's to be expected around the UK, and the water could be a bit rough at times, but made for great boogie boarding, so didn't bother us.
The track down to the beach is a bit rough too, and you can't really take a buggy down to the beach because of the rock climbing but was well worth the effort, I think we went down there 4 or 5 times over our stay, to give you an idea of how good it was there.
All in all, I'd highly recommend this campsite, as long as you don't expect material luxuries and can appreciate natural beauty you should enjoy this campsite as much as we did.
Thanks Kate, Keith and the boys for a great holiday!

Lovely peaceful site. Perfect for myself and my two children. We stayed for 5 nights. The site was clean, grass nicely cut. Kate the owner was very friendly and helpful. Portaloos were clean.
The site has a beautiful view over fields down to the sea, which we could hear at night. Fellow campers were friendly but quiet with no noise at night. We were in bed each night by 9. 15 and didn't hear a peep till we were up at gone 8am each morning.
The site is just above Oxwich beach where there's a café serving cooked breakfast in the summer months. Would def recommend. We only use a site for a base to sleep in so don't need any extra facilities, a looe and fresh water is all we require!

We stayed here last month, and will definitely be coming back! The site is reached by a no-through road, and is a gently sloping field which overlooks the sea.
The facilities are basic - portaloos and a tap - but that's exactly what we wanted, and the fact that you can have a campfire is just wonderful.
Kate, the owner, is very friendly & welcoming, and does a litter run, and loo-check daily. The nearest beach is a 10-15 minute walk. It rained that night before we left (well, it is Wales) and we had to be towed off, but the tractor was on hand to help.
A great find, we loved it.

We spent a lovely 4 nights on this site, the owner was lovely and very helpful. The facilities were just right for us, basic and clean, the ability to have a campfire was a big bonus.
The sea views from the site are awesome and the coast path walks are fantastic with great rock pooling on the way to Port Eynon. We shall definitely be putting this one on our list of campsites to recommend and return to.
Thanks for a great relaxing break

A fantastic retreat if you want to get back to basics. The facilities are basic to say the least, but what you get what you need a tap and a loo. What you do get is a magnificent view and a sense of camaraderie with the other residents. Everyone was very friendly including the owner.
This was by far my favourite campsite in our three week 1800 mile tour of southern Britain and wales. We only stayed for two nights but I would have loved to have spent longer. A brisk walk down the hill to your own private beach with decent surf for boogie boards as long as you don't mind the jellyfish(non stinging).
A huge contrast to Cornwall where we had been the week before. Some times we had the entire beach to ourselves, at worst two or three families- brilliant. My kids had an absolute ball here making lots of friends as soon as we arrived. Bring lots of food as there are no nearby shops and enjoy this beautiful part of Wales.

A small campsite tucked away in Slade with lovely views of the area. A lovely warm welcome by the owner and she even helped me with my tent as I am a first time camper and didn't have a clue. Owner does the rounds to make sure everything is ok and she does a rubbish collection daily so the area is kept clean and tidy.
The site is very basic as your in a field no facilities for kids they make their own fun, which is great its nice to see kids enjoying the outdoors and not using game consoles etc. The site has no hook ups, it has portaloo toilets which are checked daily there are no showers but it does have mains water for everyday use, an Ideal site if you don't mind roughing it out and my son and nephew loved it. Lots of families were pitched up here which was great as I had peace and quiet as the boys were playing in the field and I didn't see them unless they were hungry.
The nearest shop is about a 5 minute drive away if you need any essentials.
There is a nice long walk down hill to the beach its slightly uneven in places and you do have to scale the cliff to get down onto the beach itself. Not Ideal if you have joint or back problems, I did do it but I am suffering now. (we will do anything for our kids, right?)
We only stayed one night just to try out camping and I am glad to say we did enjoy it and the weather helped as it was lovely. We will certainly be doing it again hopefully for longer and hopefully we can get to come back before the summer holidays are over.
Thank you.
From
Michelle, Jack and James.

The season of 2012 is now coming to and end. It hasn't been one of the busiest but I suppose that is due to the weather and the Olympics, however the faithful and die hard have been out in force.
The school holidays are always our favourite as my boys have all their friends back on site with new children coming along all the time. The gaggle or feral pack of kids gets bigger and bigger every year and off they all go where they left off at the end of last season. The site becomes a haven for children doing what all children should do - have fun. There isn't a nicer sound than kids laughing and playing with no DS or play station in sight.
Jack & Harry thrive on football/rugby and other games played as well as the daring bike runs that they make. Being on the Slade beach with all their mates from the field playing in the sea, on the sand and rock pooling is their idea of heaven. Parents can relax in the knowledge that their children are being entertained and having fun free - including myself, the joys of no nagging.
The field itself survived extremely well in the wet weather with only one car having to be towed out so putting down the invisible road was definitely a good idea and it so firmly embedded now that hopefully it will continue to work.
We are once again bracing ourselves for a wet and windy winter only this year we have extra staff in the form of Tom who has now completed school and is doing his Agri Apprenticeship with us, just need to work out how to get a 16 year old out of bed at 5. 30 in the morning.
Time will soon be upon us again for the season of 2013 fingers crossed we do see a lot more sunshine then.
Many thanks to all who came camping at Eastern Slade this year and hopefully we will see you all again next season.
Kate, Keith, Tom Harry & Jack xx
