Fantastic site, camping as it used to be and should remain to be! Eastern Slade Farm is in a great location high up on the hills above Slade Bay.
It's a back to basics site with only drinking water and chemical toilets provided, as a bonus you're blessed with lovely views out to Oxwich Point and Port Eynon.
Was made to feel very welcome by the owners and the facilities although basic were found to be clean at all times. This is a relaxing and quiet site, the fields are level with a gentle slope.
The site is family and dog friendly but it's not busy and noisy - it's small and out of the way.
Eastern Slade Farm Campsite provides a real camping experience in a wonderful setting. It's a working dairy farm too.

This is a great campsite with lovely views (if the weather allows!)
Be aware that there are only basic amenities (water and chemical toilets - always kept in very good order), but they were sufficient for our needs.
The site is run by a very friendly couple, who make it their business to ensure that you are comfortable and happy. They even let me use the shelter of one of their barns so that Autoglass could replace my windscreen in the dry!
The nearest pub is in Oxwich Bay - a good mile's walk each way, but worth it.

This has to be one of my top 3 sites in Europe! First of all the views are fantastic no matter where you camp. The facilities are very 'back to basics' with drinking water and a selection of chemical toilets (more are provided in high season) which are cleaned daily and are always spotless.
The owners are very helpful and friendly, as are their children who are often to be seen playing in the field with kids who are camping.
Dogs are welcome, the owners 2 farm collies usually introduce themselves and have a play with any visiting dogs. The atmosphere on site is always chilled and friendly, even in high season.
There are plenty of walks - the coastal path is just down the road, there are quiet secluded sandy bays to discover and Port Eynon and Oxwich Bay for pubs, shops etc.
If you want a chilled, back to basics site with fantastic sea views and a 'get away from it all' feel to it, then this is the site for you!

On arriving at the site, I noticed how clean it was. The other campers were very friendly and the owner and her twin sons are fantastic. The twins were only to happy to show our sons around the area and which fields they could go in, and the owner was always on hand to give advice and directions to the best places to shop and eat, she was also happy to refreeze ice packs and charge mobile phones. This is a great site with fantastic view and lovely beaches nearby. We will definitely be going back

Owners Comments
The season is now over and what a year it has been, we have had such wonderful campers coming to stay with us this year. The hassle and heartache we had in obtaining our extra 10 tents overspill planning application was definitely worth it. We have had a wide range of entertainment going on in the field and it is wonderful to see everyone joining in.
Belle, Ellie and Cannie (Roo) have had a great season playing with all the children and are now have resigned themselves to actually doing some work rounding up the cattle at long last. Tom, Jack and Harry have made numerous new friends and have really enjoyed welcoming back their friends from previous years, we miss you all when you go.
I am looking forward to next season and hope we will have yet another cracking crop of campers to welcome back.
Happy healthy 2010 Kate, Keith, Tom, Harry and Jack.

We loved this site, as it is non-commercial and relaxed and literally just sleeping in a field with lovely views. Everyone was very chilled and there were no competitive camper types.
We were the last in bed each night (11ish) and first up (6ish) so had no problems with noise at night. Toilets were immaculate and the owner was lovely, very kind and laid back.
Lots of families, some large groups, lots of dogs too which was not a problem as all of them were well controlled. The scenery and walk to the beach were perfect and although we only spent two nights there we felt we had been away ages. Lots to do nearby. Would definitely go back.

This is a lovely, but small campsite - the owner is very friendly and takes time to chat. Can feel a bit crowded in the field as you are not far from those opposite you. Portable loo toilets only at the bottom of the field, but beautifully clean.
Dogs welcome and children seemed to be enjoying themselves here.
The beach is a short walk away and is a lovely secluded beach.

Just got back following a very chilled weekend, one of the best ever! Kate was amazingly helpful, fitted us in at the last minute, a great host and our youngest loved helping with the milking.
The site was exactly as described, back to basics, however the coast views, the starry unpolluted night display, the seemingly private beach, more than made up for any other facilities. And to boot the other campers were of a similar outlook, chilled and happy to let the kids and dogs play. Will be going back every sunny weekend, sshhh don't tell anyone else ;o)
P.S even the chemical bogs are clean

Just returned from a stay at Eastern Slade Farm. The campsite is very basic, a field with portaloos, but we were aware of this when we booked. It has stunning views over the sea. Slade bay is absolutely fantastic, and although it is a 15 minute walk away, we managed it easily with young children. The beach is amazing, and despite being bank holiday, there were very few people around. The campsite is a good base for exploring the Gower. The only downside is the fact that the field is on a hill, and with no hardcore track, getting out is very tricky, when wet. We had to be towed out (very willingly, by the owner, admittedly) twice in one day, and this, together with the prospect of worsening weather, meant we reluctantly left a day early. I would recommend that people visit the area for the beautiful bay alone, however unless the owners were to improve access, I would not personally return. The owners, to their credit were extremely helpful.
