Stayed on this site at the back end of summer 2014. Although we pre-booked when we actually got there no pitches were available for our unit + tent so we ended up on the car parking area next to the camping field. Despite that we had a wonderful stay, the warden was really helpful and apologetic and the sea views were a nice touch. Facilities a little bit dated and scruffy but still usable. Would definitely go again but try to get there nice and early to be sure of a pitch, even if you have booked.

Having read a few reviews of Trig point 49, I decided to book a holiday there. It was my first time Yorkshire camping, and I wasn't disappointed. For me the campsite had everything I wanted, Yes the toilets were a little dated but everything worked, which included a free fridge freezer for anybody to use, and a very good kitchen/pot washing area. In here also there was also a kettle and microwave for all to use if necessary. There was no charge for a shower, which I have had elswhere, which was always a good temperature. I found the campsite without any problems, and the directions fine. The owners and staff where very helpful and friendly, giving great advice about the area. The immediate area of Staithes is a lovely sea fishing village, with good food outlets, pubs and shops, only a few minutes walk from the campsite, really good. Would I go back again, yes, even though someone stole my freezer blocks from the freezer, a reflection of other people and not the campsite.

Really enjoyed this site lots of space even though staff said it wa busy. Very friendly and relaxed. People were left to pitch up anywhere. Toilets were adequate. Some loud large groups of campers singing till around 11ish but once told they woke the kids up they settled down. Would go again as its a very laid back site.

Arrived on Friday afternoon after having booked a pitch for our 7m motorhome to find a very sloping site with seemingly a 'pitch where you like' policy and no pitch suitable for us, or the two motorhomes that arrived in front of us. The access road does this place no favours, and large tents were pitched in between the nissen huts, leaving us with an impression of chaos. Reception closed, though a lovely lady answered the mobile, and tried to direct us to what she called 'hardstanding' where we could pitch. This was really a turning circle filled with parked cars. She tried her best, attempting to get the cars moved, and offering us a spot in between the nissen huts too, but the place was just not for us. I think more information on their website would have helped me realise this before we chose to book. In the end, we parked up in the car park and had a fitful sleep wondering whether we would be OK - which we were. I'm sure this site is popular because it is only a few minutes walk into Staithes, and it does have some lovely views. However, unless changes are made, it's not for us.

This is a lovely small, peaceful site within walking distance of the beautiful fishing village of Staithes.
We booked at short notice for a Tuesday night and found the staff incredibly helpful and friendly.
There are basic, but clean, toilet & shower facilities, a small kitchen with a fridge and a living area with settees and tables.
We loved it so much and had such a lovely time that as we left we booked again for the Friday of the same week.
It is a real little gem of a place.

As previously stated this site is very basic but we loved it and will return.
The toilets & showers are simple but adequate there is a kitchen which has a fridge/freezer, kettle which was all very useful during our camping stay.
The location is great just above a lovely fishing village of Staithes which has a small beach and great rock pools which the kids loved to go crabbing.
Eating out was easy with the kids, we found a great country pub 'The Fox & Hounds' very accommodating & friendly with the kids, easy walk from campsite & not expensive. The chippy at the end of the road was great (better than chippy in Hinderwell!)
A definite must if you like fish is the Whitby fish company just outside the campsite entrance, fantastic fish perfect on the bbq.
Overall really enjoyed it & will return.

Just this Minute returned from Trig Point 49 and can say wow! Would/ could not believe we've stayed at a WW 1 Army Camp, camping, so much history attached to the huts.
Would/ will recommend this site. The B & B units are all newly renovated and reasonably priced as is camping.
Please don't let looks deceive as some the huts are in need of TLC would in my opinion benefit from a few volunteers giving them a coat of paint maybe in return for a free night/nights camping. Toilets and showers clean and hand soap and paper towels in toilet areas. Access to site is through the fence via public car park, reception is straight in front of entrance and if no one around there's a mobile phone number on the door.
Pub is 2 minutes walk from camp where you can get meals, fish and chip shop just 5 minute from pub. Small cafe over the road from pub open during the day. A nice walk into Stathes down a steep hill and to the harbour beach, another pub there and a few shops but remember that hill looks and feels steeper going up. No visitors cars allowed into the village but plenty of public car parking. There is no shop on site but a co-op about 15minuites walk/5minuites drive from site.

Having read previous reviews, we decided to give the site a try.
We had no problems finding the site, on arrival, we found it very relaxed & we just pitched where we liked. We did see people pull off, as there was no one around to direct them and they couldn't find sufficient space. The views from the site are exceptional and there is some lovely walks and places to visit in the area. We had a dog with us and found many places were dog friendly. On the site, dogs are supposed to be kept on a lead, but some let theirs run free.
It states the facilities are old, but they are in desperate need of some TLC, the toilets, wash and shower facilities leave a lot to be desired and due to this we won't be staying on this site again, which is a shame, as we really enjoyed our visit to Staithes. The management could really do with investing In a new toilet/ shower block.

We stayed here for 2 nights with our medium sized tent.
The camping field is a good size with plenty of space. We were the only tent for one of the nights so space wasn't an issue.
The existing toilet and shower facilities were very clean and as the site was quiet there wasn't any issues, however I imagine if the camping field were to be full it may become more of an issue but am sure the owners are aware of this.
There is a pub 2 mins from the site (Captain Cook) and a couple of good pubs down the steep hill in Staithes itself.
If you're looking for a quiet stay this is the place!

Great site set in a wonderful location, basic facilities, but nice to have somewhere warm to sit and dry bits out as we got some of our wonderful rainy British weather. The Fish and Chip shop near by is wonderful as is the local pub, and the local smocked fish was amazing, loved it, thanks for a great bank holiday
