We only stayed one night at this camp site mainly because of how expensive it was and because it was a little too regimented for our liking. We aren't members of the Camping and Caravan Club so had to pay £23. 50 for one night without electricity, which we thought was excessive. However, the site facilities are immaculately clean and the showers were very good, but it didn't feel relaxed enough for us.
The area is quiet apart from the planes flying over from nearby Newquay airport and there's a great cafe and take away in the next campsite, 50 metres up the road, which is open for anyone.
There's a nice walk through a neighbouring campsite, just down the road, which takes you to the coastal path and on down to Watergate Bay.
If we came back to this area we would stay at the campsite with the views of the bay, just down the road.

This is one of our favourite sites and have stayed here both during August and at this May/June holiday. Whenever you come there is always a warm and efficient welcome from the staff. The pitches are lovely and big adhering to the clubs 6m rule. Pitches are generally flat although the ones we prefer towards the end of the site are slightly sloping. The grass is well kept.
The wash rooms are fantastically well kept.
The shop provides basics.
The location is excellent. About 15 mins walk to Watergate Bay beach. It is about 20mins to Padstow and Wadebridge.
So much to see and do in this area.
The site is near the airport so is not silent because of airplanes but it is very tranquil

We stayed here as a stopover whilst touring Cornwall. As the weather was bad, we arrived at 1pm to hunker down for heavy rain to pass and then enjoy the better weather from late afternoon.
The site is pretty much what you'd expect from the C&CC, well kept and clean tidy. The pitch we were directed to was flat, but we still need the chocks to level up. There seemed to be some pitches with nicer views towards the back of the site, our was just as you entered the site and was somewhat uninspiring. The showers were a little annoying as the push button, didn't tend to last very long.
In the evening we had a wander over to the coastpath (which is easily accessible) down to Watergate, and had a fantastic meal in the Beach Bar directly overlooking the beach and sea; it was dog friendly and the food was some of the best I've had for a meal out.
Overall I'd say the site was fine and would probably use again for a stopover, although there is different site just down the same access road that had nicer views.

Stayed at this campsite for a week and we all had a really lovely time. We were a little nervous having read some pretty bad reviews online, however these turned out to be nonsense. Staff all really friendly and even gave us a key to the disabled shower/toilet block due to us having our three year old daughter with us; they said it would make showering easier for her than using the main block! This was so sweet of them and did indeed make shower times much easier.
The little shop on site stocks basics like milk and bread and also some luxuries. The croissants and jam in particular were a welcome treat at breakfast time.
We arrived on the final day of the boardmasters festival. Upon arrival we were warned by the warden that we might find it noisy that evening, and although we could hear it, it really wasn't a problem. After that, there were no problems with noise.
Main shower and toilet block was lovely and clean at all times. Afraid I can't comment on the showers themselves as we used the disabled but that one was always lovely and warm.
My only grumble was there was nowhere to freeze your own ice blocks. Could hire them from the shop for a (I think refundable) fee, but would have been better in my opinion to have facility to freeze your own. Not really something to complain about though.
Close to Porth, Watergate bay and Newquay, loads to do without having to travel too far!
All in all, we had a great stay here. Even though we had consistent heavy rain for 24 hours followed by very strong winds. But hey, that's the risk you take when holidaying in the UK!
Definitely a campsite we'd return to!

This site is run to the rule book and generally in a very friendly way. Our motorhome pitch was quite old tarmac and although level was not very pleasant and could do with renewing. Having said that it was like pitching on a golf course, the grass was kept so neat, the facilities were all immaculate. There is very little space on the site although plenty between pitches but I didn, t see anywhere for children. It is a good 15 to 20 mins walk to the beach at Watergate Bay, partly along the cliff tops and lots of steps down but well worth the effort. There is plenty of space and room for the kids to play safely and dogs to run a safe distance away. Plenty of surfers. We ate at the Phoenix Bar which I can highly recommend although Jamie Olivers restaurant on the beach did look very nice.

Can only echo the comments of Cassi and Chriscable. A pleasant site with efficient and friendly wardens but a bit remote. We stayed for three nights in July. Our first choice of pitch meant we could not erect our awning without falling foul of the six metre rule. The wardens gave us the option of moving across the road to a pitch next to the toilet block. The pitch was fine but a soft close fastening on the blocks doors would be an improvement. The on site facilities are clean and well maintained and the shop stocks basic requirements.
Newquay was a big disappointment, it is a rather run down resort and not the easiest of places to navigate with a motorhome. We travelled in on our first day to the supermarket and decided after that experience to use the bus ! One trip on the bus to Newquay and we settled for walking! ( only to Watergate bay)As stated the walk down to Watergate bay was fine but the trek back was quite tiring.
The site is under the flight path from the airport, and planes fly over regularly, but its remote location means planes apart that it is very quiet.
Probably not a site we would return to (due to its location) but it is clean and well run.

Nice site. Three days here. Wardens even more friendly and helpful than ever and as this club has the best wardens then that is some praise from me. Facilities clean and well maintained although prefer a mop and bucket with disinfectant to ensure showers clean before use. Not much nearby esp if you have older dogs who don't walk far. Coastal walk takes you to Watergate Bay but our lads could not make it that far. Prob better site for those with cars or who take motorhome out each day. Did catch the bus to Newquay one day - nerve racking experience as drivers take pleasure in driving as fast as they can around the very narrow lanes and even after 20 mins you are very glad to get off. Newquay was disappointing - bit like a very small Blackpool but beaches looked great. Could have caught bus to Padstow but because it took an hour we gave it a miss. Did visit as we left and have to say we loved it and next time we will stay close to Padstow as possible

WE have used this site before so we were pleased to see that the high standards had been maintained. The toilet/shower block was thoroughly cleaned every day and also cleaned in between if needed. The grass was kept cut and tidy as was the whole site. The small shop was kept well stocked with most of the every day items you would need. The wardens, Paul and Angie were very helpful and nothing was to much trouble. Some great walks to Newquay or Padstow or else the bus stopped right outside the gate and was reliable. Some great beaches nearby such as Watergate Bay and Lusty Glaze.

This is a very nice touring park. The toilet/shower block was kept extremely clean and appeared to be cleaned twice a day. It is a short walk from the site to the cliff path where you can walk to Watergate Bay. The bus stops on the main road just outside the site which will take you to Padstow in one direction or to Newquay in the oter direction, you change buses at Newquay and go into Truro. The wardens were great and made sure all the rules were adhered to, some lads did start a game of football near the vans and this was stopped immediately.

Pleasant base for our Cornwall holiday but the friendly club seems to be losing its touch a bit. Very business like instructions on how to pitch & general approach to us as a holiday maker, little local knowledge especially for motorhome access which is important in Cornwall. The grass pitch was sloping & despite being dry we still needed slip mats to get off the grass in a motorhome. The book swap is always a popular aspect on sites but now it's strictly books for sale & only to the site flower fund & not a local charity. This surely should be included in the club budget not paid for by campers. On a positive note there was great access to the coastal path certainly at this time of year but when the Watergate overflow field is busy that perhaps won't be as easy.
