Best campsite in France we have visited. Clean, well kept and the most friendly owners. The pool is clean and warm and the location ideal for exploring northern Brittany.

This is the second year running we have stayed at this site. It is only about 50 minutes from St. Malo with it's medievel fort and sandy beaches.
The owners are very welcoming and the site is cleaned daily and well groomed. The toilet and shower blocks are cleaned daily and no mess whatsoever, the small laundry area is to the same standard. There is ample play area for children and a mixture of farmyard animals which I am sure all children will love. There is also a heated swimming pool and seating area with a small bar where meals can be ordered. The surrounding area is flat and ideal for cycling. Pitches are well kept, clean and tidy. Combourg is a picturesque town within 20 minutes drive, there is a small supermarket and local shops. In the village of Cuguen where the site is situated is a small bar and local bread can be ordered from the site shop.
This site ticks all the boxes for a nice, relaxing holiday in France and we will definitely be going back again next year.

Took a while to find the camp site but once we arrived and were greeted with a friendly welcome, and of course opened a bottle of wine, we settled in very quickly. The site had a lovely friendly atmosphere.
Even when at full capacity the site was spacious enough to give privacy.
The facilities were perfectly adequate, extremely clean and well tended.
We felt safe and secure and had no worries leaving our tent and equipment whilst we went out for the day.
The markets we visited and the towns and villages were charming and beautifully and typically French,
Unspoilt and rural with no feeling of being over run by tourists!

We took the ferry from Portsmouth to St Malo, and the campsite was a 40 minute drive from there. The site was very welcoming; a heated pool, food and drinks on the premises if required, goats, sheep and ducks to feed, and the resident cat. It's a lovely site - 27 units including caravans, tents, motor homes and 3 or 4 gites to rent. The atmosphere is very relaxed and it's a good site for families with young children.
The pool is securely gated to ensure small children don't wander in and out of the area. Phillipe and Claire have good local knowledge of the area and are on hand to suggest places to visit. They were extremely helpful and it made our holiday a very relaxing one. I would certainly recommend it.
My only recommendation would be to book a cabin on the ferry above the car decks. It did not feel pleasant trying to sleep knowing we were below the water level.

We have recently spent nearly a week at this campsite and could have easily stayed there for another month. It is a small campsite but this is its appeal. The facilities are excellent, everything is always clean and the hosts are very helpful.
We had two small children, 3 and 6, who spent their time either feeding the goats in their pen or swimming in the on site pool.
There is plenty to do in the area but we found ourselves spending more time at the campsite then we were planning to, as it was so relaxing.
The only criticism would be that there was no fresh milk in the morning, which would have been very helpful due to keeping this cold is difficult in a tent, and perhaps a washing machine on site.
Otherwise we would really recommend this site for any one who is looking for a peaceful retreat

We visited the site this august and just returned. We travelled over by ferry from Dover, which was cheap, we docked at Dunkirk which was a bit of a trek to Cuegen, it was about a four hour drive but it was a nice drive down to the site. On arrival the owners could not do enough to make you feel more welcome great hospitality. The facilities were very good the showers were always hot and when we arrived the campsite was at full speed and even then their was always hot water, and even then you did not have to wait, they were always clean. Same goes for the toilets.
The play area for the kids was ideal the pool was great and very clean. Every morning you had fresh bread when you ordered the night before. Local facilities were good a supermarket just a ten minute drive away. local attractions were a 30 minute drive away the coast was about a 40 minute drive, plenty to see around, we needed more than ten days to do everything. Great holiday will go back next year fab

We had a lovely stay at Le Bois Coudrais overall, it is a beautiful sight set in a gorgeous area with plenty to do for all ages.
Everything about this sight is wonderful, Claire and Phillipe are always there to help and are lovely people. The pool is a good size and not too cold with it being outdoors. The play ground is nice as are the animals to feed. The toilets, showers and washing up areas are kept clean and are perfectly able to use. The wi-fi connection is good in the little cafe, not that you need it with all there is to do here.
We had a few days of rain but we found coastal areas are better for the weather. We had a brilliant time exploring all the different places in Brittany and we were not disappointed by any of them!
Our pitch size was very good with plenty of room for everything we needed.

We loved this campsite. Perfect, friendly size for smaller children who loved the goats, chickens, sheep and ducks. The pool and play-area were a great hit. The toilet block was simple but functional, with plenty of hot water. No washing machine, but two large clothes washing sinks which were perfectly adequate for our needs. The emplacements are on the whole large to huge. The campsite is divided into three distinct areas. The top part has hedges between each pitch of about 100m sq. This then drops into the middle part which has more shade; with larger pitches scattered amongst the trees and the play area which you get to by crossing a little bridge. The 3rd section is a large field with huge pitches around the perimeter. There is a little snack bar on site where you can get a drink or ice creams, or a meal, where the portions are large with a lovely selection of salads. The bar area is always busy with people using the free wifi service. We found the connection to be fine and the length of a password shouldn’t be a reason for not visiting! The owners seem to be very tolerant of people that seem to think that they have come to an internet café and spend their holiday on the internet!. Location is central for visiting the area. Came for 6 nights but just scratched the surface of places to visit and things to do. Will most definitely be back. We came from a 4 star castel and camping which was twice the price and half as good!

A nice child friendly site with a pleasant pool and small cafe on site. The owners Claire and Phillipe are very amiable and helpful. Unfortunately the weather was very wet during my two stays here but the site did not seem to get too muddy. Although there were many children about with their bikes etc. There seemed to be a curfew after 9pm when the site became very quiet, even the few dogs on site seemed to understand! The pitches were adequate but caravan parking and setting up was not the easiest and the pitches did appear to be a bit close together causing other cars to be parked a bit close to the next caravan.
The Wifi appeared to be adequate once the very long code had been entered, but the distance the signal reached could not have been more that 20 metres, so internet access at the pitches was not possible and the only place to access the internet was in or around the cafe area.
The showers and toilet facilities were good.
There is a market in Combourg on Monday, quite a large one with the usual trinkets, clothes and sausages! worth a visit though.
The 11 locks on the canal are also worth a visit, they are about 15 mins drive away at St Madeleine just North of Hede.

We booked three days at this site as part of our schedule following Le Tour de France through Bretagne. We eventually spent four days at this site partly due to the appalling weather and our reluctance to pack a wet tent.
The site was ok, we were camped away from others (by choice) due to us travelling with a teething baby. Unfortunately we located ourselves opposite the swimming pool and tree swing which meant we endured some late night noise from playing kids. I had to ask them to be quiet at 23:10 one evening!
Other than that our stay was an enjoyable one, the site is ideal as a base for exploring Bretagne with the Chateau at Combourg and the pretty town of Dol de Bretagne just a short drive away.
My only issues with this site were the lack of washing machine facilities that meant us having to take everything to a Launderette in Combourg and the poor Wifi access. Having to enter an impossibly long access code and then to receive an intermittent service was incredibly frustrating. In this tech savvy and expectant age I hope they can find time to amend their access code to something a little more manageable?
Again a very pleasant setting, house and site but the weather really marred our stay. I would return to this site but would look at other options in the area too.
