Read the reviews on this website and decided to give the campsite a try. Wow, wasn't disappointed! Fabulous site, brilliant for my two girls, the dog and the Grandparents as well (they have a motorhome). Play area is well laid out, the girls loved feeding the animals and we all enjoyed the pool. There is plenty of places to walk the dog, including into the village to collect the bread in the morning. We have rather a large tent but the pitch size was still ample. The wash area catered for all ages and was well laid out. The owners were very friendly and very helpful.
The site is lovely and quiet (except for the owls at night and the church bells in the morning), it feels like you are in the middle of nowhere but its only two and half hours from Cherbourg and 10 minutes from the beautiful town of Combourg. We are taking the bikes this year so we can explore more of the canal.
Didn't really want to write a review because its a perfect site that I want to keep all to myself!

Excellent!
A magnificent gem of a site with really brilliant hosts.
We travel widely and this is truly among the best of sites.
Our 11 year old twin boys had ample space in which to play and loved the pool.
Nearby there is plenty on offer - the tree adventure place a few kilometres away was amazing, canoeing on the canal was beautiful and the Mont St. Michael was spectacular.
The site is great for crossings from and to St. Malo.
It was great to have really fresh bread, croissants and pain au chocolat delivered each and every morning.
We are already planning our return.
An absolute must visit site.

We stayed 4 nights (but wish it had been longer) as part of a 2.5 week trip in France. Excellent facilities, great location, superb hosts. One slight niggle for us though was the pitch we were allocated. Number 16 gets very little shade (Phillipe explained previously visitors had complained about not getting enough sun in the middle field so he cut some of the trees down!) so we had a hard pitch and very hot tent most of the day. This pitch is also right next to the children's play area so wasn't the most peaceful. Having said that, we were grateful to be squeezed in as we hadn't made a firm booking so will book ahead and specify pitch next year.
Good location for St Malo (go to the Intra Muros), Mont St Michel and lots of very picturesque historical villages & towns. For the price, excellent value. Very Dutch the time we were there, though we were told it was normally very British in the weeks after (second half of July). Goats hand tame and very gentle. Between them and the sheep/chickens/ducks, bread/apple cores etc are taken care of. Facilities clean and tidy. Great swimming pool - big enough to swim in not just play. Bread & croissants delivered to site at shop cost with orders going in previous night. Very busy - easy to see why, book ahead.

I found this campsite through the UK Campsite website, e-mailed them re. Price and availability and got an almost immediate response. The owners were very friendly and helpful.
The site was easy enough to find using the co-ordinates on the Satnav.
The site itself was relatively quiet when we visited in late June 2010, and we pitched in teh second field, under mature trees for shade. There is a pool, which looked good, but which we didn't use on this visit. We also didn't use EHU, but this was available. The pitches were of a good size, and flat. The facilities were clean and functional.
The little cafe looked great, but as we just used this as a one-night stopover we didn't partake. The owners were friendly and courteous. I would use this site again if in the area.

We stayed on this campsite based on the reviews read here. We weren't disappointed! It's a gem of a site. Very helpful and friendly owners. Excellent information about the local area in reception - plus the owners are happy to advise.
The swimming pool is plenty big enough, fenced, but with lots of grass, flowering shrubs and trees around the fence. Nice children's play area and animals to watch/feed.
We camped in the field farthest from reception (though still not far). There were no problems accommodating our huge tent, and we were advised about where to pitch for evening sun. The toilets and showers are fine. We didn't eat at the cafe, but ordered chips to take away and have with our own meal.
There are plenty of local supermarkets - two good sized ones in Combourg. Visit Mont St Michel in the evening - but make sure you see the tide come sweeping in. Amazing! Highly recommend Dinan - made York look pretty tame, and wasn't crowded.
We like to see new places and rarely return to the same sites. This one might be an exception!

2 hours from Cherbourg, Le Bois Coudrais is easy to find and perfect for a relaxing break. Pitches are a good size with electricity to some and there is a level field at the back for tents and plenty of space for the kids. There is a sectioned off swimming pool and the owners go to great lengths to make you feel welcome - the take away frites are a treat! However, the facilities are not really up to scratch in this day and age and would benefit from investment. That said it is a gite plus small campsite and is the perfect escape from larger commercial sites!

We spent 2 nights here in July, it was the end of our trip to France and we would have liked to have stayed here longer.
Lovely site over 3 fields, large pitch (we had a big tent and still lots of space) clean facilites, animals to keep the children amused.
The owners were very nice and very hard working. We didn't eat at the site but the daily menu was very tempting. Bread was ordered in advance for delivery the next day from a local baker which was lovely for breakfast.
There was a pool which we didn't have time to try, we spent our 2 days exploring the beautiful countryside.
We would love to come back here again.

Stayed for 2 nights end of August when most people were on way back home. Tents, touring caravans and motorhomes all catered for. One field near the animals does not have electricity hook up.
Shower block, toilets, washing up facilities and water taps all in one place, all cleaned first thing in morning by Claire.
The swimming pool is sectioned off well by a metal fence, very popular with the children but very cold my boys said!
The pitches are well defined and the campsite is small, very quiet and perfect for families plus couples wanting tranquility.
Spent a lovely day in Combourg, the Super you supermarket is en route, the diesel was the cheapest we found in 2 weeks so worth filling up!

In a way I am reluctant to write a review of this site, as we might have trouble getting in again if people read them, find out how good it was, and then book up. This was our second visit, though our neighbours in August were on their eighth(?) visit.
The site is in rural Brittany about 45 minutes south of St Malo, near the village of Cuguen. There were 25 pitches, all of a good size; we had no trouble getting a Pathfinder folding camper with awning and sleeping extension on ours, along with the car etc. The site was ideal for families with young children, those under 10ish. Older children may well get bored during the evening. The small play area, table tennis table, along The pet goats, chickens, ducks and sheep were ample entertainment to keep my small childen occupied most of the time, though it did start to cost us a bit in bread. The pool was warm, even in mid-August and well cleaned with plenty of chairs and loungers.
The toilets/showers/washing areas were clean and well looked after.
Just over half of the pitches had the normal blue plug electric hook ups with one pillar between two or three pitches.
The bar area, now with WiFi internet access, though small was homely and welcoming, with a good menu at reasonable prices, as well as a selection of ice-creams. Claire made us a cake for a family birthday, which was well received.
The local village of Cuguen had a small bar-tabac, about a km away. For further excitement you needed to travel to Combourg, which was a 10 minute drive away and had an excellent market on Monday, as well as the usual facilities of a small town. There was also a chateau.
Overall, if you want a quiet site at a reasonable price, then this is the place to come to unwind, but don't everyone book for next August as I would like there to be a pitch left for us.

We stayed at Le Bois Coudrais June 08 for 13 nights and had a terrific time, we would have been happy to spend all summer there if it had been possible. The surrounding areas are beautiful and there is plenty to keep you occupied, but to be honest, we enjoyed relaxing at the site and took advantage of the gorgeous pool which was heated and a pleasure to use.
The owners Claire and Philippe Ybert were the perfect hosts, always smiley and jolly even though they never seemed to stop working around the site ensuring everything was in tip top condition, even Jannick there 11 year old son was more than happy to pull up the odd weed that dared sprout through the gravel! The facilities were spotless and even though we have a shower in our motor home we preferred to use the showers on the site. The site was quite busy whilst we were there but there were always available showers and we never saw anyone queuing.
As mentioned in the previous review Claire was happy to cook a meal if you wanted and the verdict was excellent, as was homemade cake available in the bar/reception area. My husband and I enjoyed a very nice wine or two, or was it 6 or 7, anyway, the lovely area next to the bar and pool is great sunny place to sit in the evening and enjoy the great hospitality offered by Claire and Philippe.
If I could think of a negative comment about this site I would certainly write it, but frankly there is nothing negative to say!
Thank you Claire and Philippe for making out stay so memorable, we just hope you have space available the next time we visit.
We made some great friends during our stay, thank you.
