Just come back from a weeks stay here, it was beautiful, location was fab, we pitched next to the stream, and my 3 children loved it, playing in it, and building small waterfalls. The views and surrounding scenery was stunning.
It was on a working farm, so plenty of sheep and cows in the surrounding fields.
There was 2 toilets and 2 showers, basic but clean and I never had to wait for either, also undercover washing up facilities.
Margaret was super helpful and genuinely lovely, Was there when needed but didn't interfere.
Must point out there is no phone, internet or tv signal, but this didn't bother us, I found it lovely and peaceful!
Would definitely revisit this site again and would recommend to anyone wanting a quiet holiday with amazing scenery, And plenty to visit within the area.
Thank you to Margaret and husband for a lovely week :)

A really lovely campsite. Small, and with a number of seasonal pitches, but good sized level hard standing, with sheep for company on one side, and cows on the other. The toilets and showers were clean, although we largely used our own on board facilities. There is a mostly off road walk into the village and the Game Cock Inn (book a table - we arrived at 6pm on a Sunday and even though we found a table, they weren't taking any more orders). Lots of other walks from the site. The walk up to the Norber Erratics is worth it. We were worried that our unit wouldn't get through the lane or entrance (Buccaneer Cutter, 21ft long and 8ft wide), and despite the warning sign saying nothing wider than 7ft 6 'except for access', we got in fine. There is another site - Silloth House - just before you get to Woodend and this is disconcerting. Woodend could have better signage and getting out again took a bit of careful manoevering. But we'd definitely go back, for the wonderful countryside and peace and quiet.

What a wonderful weekend at a fabulous site. Lovely large pitches and spotless showers/toilets. Both owners were wonderful and thank you for letting us leave the caravan on the field to explore a little more on Sunday morning. And may I say a big thank you to the people of Settle, you must be the most dog friendly people on the planet, lovely to see. A thank you to the Cock Game pub in Austwick as well for your dog friendliness, we will be back with our extended doggy family. Could not ask for anything more from a caravanning weekend!

Beautiful location, though towing a caravan through the village fete to get there proved exciting, though not, of course, their fault.
The site is great with clearly marked pitches, and a stunning location with a babbling brook running just on the other side of the wall. The facilities were miles away - it bothers some on here and not others. You pays your money, etc, etc.
Owners were great and v helpful, and I'd definitely go back. A beautiful campsite in a stunning location.

We had a great weekend at this gem of a campsite. The toilet/showers are a bit of a stroll from the pitch, but excellent and clean. The views from the site are brilliant and the area is full of footpaths and bridleways. You can walk in any direction for miles. We strolled to the Gamecock Inn in Austwick and enjoyed good food and ale. There is poor phone and wifi signal, but once you get over that it adds to the peace and tranquility of this campsite. The owners are lovely. We have booked two more visits this summer and will probably continue to do so.

Really picturesque site - peaceful, other than the baaing of sheep, with stunning scenery all around. Easy access to great walks and a short walk (less than 15 minutes) to excellent local pub. Pitches are large, level and grass is well-maintained. We were in a VW campervan with awning but no sink so reliant on the site facilities for toilets, showers etc but the walk to the farmyard is short (we were parked at the closest end of the site) and we never queued. The toilets and (free) showers are very clean with plenty of hot water and large washing up area. The owner was really helpful with the booking - prompt reply and very friendly when we were there, pointing the way to local limestone paving and a good walk directly from the site. Highly recommended

What an absolutely fabulous site in a really picturesque location. Spent a week here and we really didn't want to go home. Site is excellent and well kept. A credit to the owners. New shower block is excellent with free hot water, sinks and a hair dryer. Fantastic walks in all directions from site.
Previous reviews mention the 'trek' up to the facilities but it took less than two minutes to walk to them. And the scenery that you view in your walk to them is breath taking. The Game Cock is just a 10 - 15 minute walk down the lane and serves great food and good beer. I can recommend the sirloin steak with a pint of Thwaites Strawberry Blonde beer!
We will definitely be back and can't recommend this site highly enough.

Lovely basic site to really relax amongst the hills.
We only booked a few days ahead for the bank holiday weekend. I sent an email to enquire and had a reply within a day saying there was some availability but to confirm asap. When I rang we had already been pencilled in for a pitch!
On arrival (about 7pm Friday) the farmer was in the field directing the influx of arrivals. He was concerned about the rain forecast for that night (yellow weather warning) as the pitch he had earmarked was the most likely to flood but he didn't want to put us (a couple) in the middle of large family groups! He helped us to choose the highest point of the pitch and left us to it after reluctantly taking the site fee!
The facilities are up at the farm house but only a short walk from the tent field. There are 2 toilets which are unisex and in large separate rooms which were clean with plentiful supplies of toilet roll, antibac handwash, air freshener and paper towels - there was also a room with a urinal and sink. There is no hot water in the toilets but there are 2 vanity sinks in the shower room just across the yard and the showers were excellent. We did have to queue for the toilets at times but not for long. We didn't queue for the showers but did generally avoid peak times when there were people waiting.
The pot wash area was good although the sinks too deep for me so I had to double up the bowls to avoid back ache! The hot water was plentiful and there was a large fridge and freezer available in the same area.
There was real attention to detail - paper towels, plugs on all sinks, air freshener etc and the areas regularly cleaned.
The site is in a beautiful position with lots of little villages and towns to visit. The site is basic but there were lots of families enjoying ball games but the field was so large it did not impinge on the peace for others! The local pub - the Game Cock Inn is excellent and a nice 20 minute walk but do book ahead as it is small and very popular.

We booked onto this site for 8 nights as the neighbouring site, our first choice, was full. I am glad it was full as this was a better site!
I don't normally like sites where the pitches are marked out and allocated; I like to choose my spot, but all pitches were large (room for a large tent and car), well spaced, reasonably sheltered and equidistant from the facilities up at the farmhouse - a short, scenic walk up a track. When people centred their tent on the pitch marker, as instructed, there was plenty of space between pitches.
There is no playground so children must make their own entertainment, but the pitches are around the edge of the field so there is ample room for ball games in the middle.
The site was quiet and had lovely views of rolling hills and sheep, with footpaths through the site and to the surrounding hills. There is a footpath, from by the toilet block, into Austwick, where there is a pub that does meals and a shop (we never saw it open as it has short opening hours!) or you can take the slightly shorter walk along the quiet road. The area seemed to be very popular with cyclists.
The facilities were clean and well stocked and I particularly liked the fact that there was a fridge so we didn't have the daily worry of getting milk. There was also a freezer for small items and ice packs and a book swap for if you've run out of reading material!
During our stay, I had to spend a couple of nights in Morecambe, about 26 miles away, meeting friends, and the nearby (3 miles?) railway station of Clapham (Yorks) provided easy access to the rail network.
There are caravans on the site but they have their own field, unusually, further away from the facilities.

Fab, Fab, Fab site! We stayed here at the start of the school holidays (although we didn't have children with us) and was surprised to find that it wasn't full, although the weekends were busier, it was quiet during the week. We stayed here for 13 nights and I really didn't want to go home. It was so peaceful
Pitches were large, only 6 were for tourers at the moment as the others were seasonal, but not many were being used. The camping pitches were huge as well, probably the biggest I've ever seen, with plenty of space for children to play.
Yes, the toilets/showers are a little walk away but that wasn't a problem for us (although some lazy devils did drive up there!) The facilities were spotless at all times, Margaret must be popping in and out to check them all day long. Washing up sinks and a fridge/freezer for campers, which would be useful, but having a caravan we didn't use either.
There are some lovely walks direct from the site which meant we didn't have to take the car out everyday. Good cycling area as well.
The pub in Austwick is very busy, we went there to eat at 6. 00pm on a Wednesday and there were only two tables in the bar free, so I would advise booking when you want to go. We had a good meal there. However, you MUST go to Elaine's tearooms in Feizer for Breakfast. The quantity and quality of ingredients couldn't be faulted, it was brilliant, and you certainly don't need to eat again until the Evening. It's about a 40 min walk over fields from the site or you can drive there, although not masses of parking. We went twice, it was so good.
My only complaint is. Woodend is too far from Devon to go every weekend! I loved it!
