Great little site. Flat field with large pitches, space left in the middle for ball games etc. Only 2 toilets and showers, unisex, but very clean and no queues given limited pitches. Fridge and freezer in pot wash area for campers use. Owners lovely, helpful and friendly, they have thought of everything

Ideally situated for walking in this area, easy road access 1mile from Austwick, and

Couple of pubs locally.

If you want a quiet campers site this is for you. If you want play area, shop, or glamping try somewhere else.

My girlfriend and I camped on this beautiful site on a Monday in October 2012, and found the tent field to ourselves. It had been a wet day, but we were able to choose our own pitch, park next to it, and fortunately were able to drive on and off the field.

The view was stunning, with hills all around the whole skyline. The toilets and showers were clean, with hot water and well stocked, and the pot washing facilities were adequate. The site manager was friendly, but I noticed that the upper part of the field was roped off, so we had to be closer to the road and therefore closer to road noise. I noticed that many official pitches were next to the road.

We had absolutely superb walking from this wonderful campsite, so with the site's views, fell in love with it.

What a super site. Delightful owners made us welcome. Clean toilets, good showers with free use of hairdryer, and dishwashing facilities. Use of freezer and fridge. The pitches are very generous and there is lots of room to play. Not sure how big the field was - probably around 15 acres, with only 15 pitches around the edge.

It is in a beautiful area with lots of lovely walks directly from the site. It is worth a short walk to Faizor to Elaine's tea rooms - super breakfasts/lunches/coffee and cakes. The Game Cock in the village does excellent food and serves well kept real ale. Also worth a mention is the Fisherman in Settle for really good fish and chips.

We stayed for here 6 nights, The afternoon we arrived all pitches flooded, Edward came down to see if we were ok, and the option to move to other local camp sites if theirs was not suitable due to the deluge, the dogs got promoted into the caravan from the awning, within 2 hour all the water had drained away.

Glad we stayed. What a beautiful site. Lovely clean facilities with loads of hot water. The village as only a 10 minute walk, with a small shop, a post office and 2 pubs, what more could you want.

We walked from the site every day with footpaths in every direction, and only used the car on one occasion, and that was to see Ribblesdale Head Viaduct, and walk Whernside.

There are loads of other things to see and do in the local area, as well as walking.

This is a lovely quiet site, surrounded by beautiful country side, would we go back, yes in a heart beat.

We were greeted by Margaret & Edward and kindly shown where everything was, the facilities are more than sufficient and always kept clean.

The campsite itself has 14 well spaced tent pitches around the perimeter of a big well tended flat stone-free field, this leaves a huge playing area in the middle for the kids.

It was so peaceful and the other campers respected the 'no noise after 10. 30' rule but some ignored the 'dogs on a lead at all times' rule, which isn't unusual for dog owners it seems!

The area around Austwick has such a wealth of interesting things to see and do, a visit to one of the caves must be on your list, and the falconry centre was a great choice.

When the starter motor on the car packed in the day before we were due back to the IoM on the ferry, Edward kindly offered to give a lift into Settle, we can't thank him enough.

What did we think overall?. We want to go back next summer, but earlier to catch the better weather.

My wife and I stayed here for a couple of nights as we were taking part in the Yorkshire Three Peak Challenge on behalf of the British Heart Foundation. We had to be in Horton in Ribblesdale by 6:30am and this campsite is perfectly situated for that as it's only 5 minutes drive away.

In fact, everything is 5 minutes drive away! There's caves galore, small towns like Settle, scenic areas like Ribblehead and the famous viaduct, the falconry centre on the main A65.

The site itself is split into a tent field and the caravan/campervan field which has the electric hookups. We were in one of these spaces just next to the beck. The surrounding fields offer peace and quiet, it's such a beautiful area.

Margaret met us on arrival and showed us around the facilities. Although only two main toilet rooms (I say 'rooms' instead of blocks because they are self-contained individual rooms with their own hand basin and mirror etc) they were kept very clean and tidy.

I could imagine at busy times that the facilities could be a little stretched though when I walked up to the farm both rooms were free. There are also freezer facilities which are free to use.

We had a meal in The Game Cock Inn in Austwick, just a short walk away. The locals seemed friendly and the pub had a good selection of Real Ales - always a winner with me! The second night we ate at The New Inn in nearby Clapham. Also worth a visit, though Settle has several pubs too.

I can't recommend this campsite enough. We would definitely stay here again when we visit the area. And if anyone's up for a challenge, the Three Peaks is an amazing experience to conquer in one day!

 This was our second visit.

I'd like to tell everyone that this site is awful, dirty, noisy, horrible owners, on a 45 degree slope with cow muck all over the field, flooded pitches, showers cost £5 per use, toilet paper is £1 per sheet, the place stinks, access is through a muddy lane, sheep chew your tent, campers party all night and the mozzies swarm throughout the year.

Then I could keep the place to myself - but I can't lie can I? None of the above.

The best piping hot water facilities I've ever experienced and now improved two unisex electric free shower facilities compliment everything else.

Love the footpaths and bridleways which put you in a different world - O. S. Maps help here and you can wander for miles.

Note that tent pitches are strictly limited to 15 spaces which helps maintain the tranquillity of this site. Booking is very necessary at peak times.

Can only repeat what everyone else has said.

Spent a wonderful weekend at Woodend over the Royal Wedding weekend. We received a warm welcome from Margaret and were shown to our pitch. All pitches were very spacious and gave us acres of room in our fairly small tent.

The layout of the field is great with plenty of room in the middle of the field for children to play. On a rather windy weekend this included kite flying! Field was nice and flat and ground was fairly soft.

It was incredibly windy during our stay although we were about the only pitch which wasn't in front of the stone wall (15) which I suspect may have acted as a good wind break. We parked the car behind the tent at night which did seem to help.

It appears that the showers have recently been updated and there are 2 showers in a single mixed gender shower room with 2 sinks. These were free, hot and powerful enough and were always very clean. We never had to wait despite it being a fairly busy weekend. Fridge, freezer and pot wash were very useful and again the toilets were always nice and clean and fairly modern.

The site is close to the village of Austwick with lots of lovely walks straight from the site. I'd particularly recommend a walk to the nearby village of Clapham and the nearby caves. From the massive number of cyclists we saw I'd also assume there's good cycle routes nearby too!

The Gamecock pub was a short walk from the site. This was a lovely pub with excellent food, not particularly cheap but I felt good value for the quality. They were very accommodating and managed to squeeze us in on a busy Sunday but I'd suggest booking. Although the takeaway pizzas seemed a good option if you can't get a table.

All in all a wonderful site and one I would highly recommend for anyone looking for a quiet weekend away. We will definitely return.

A one night stay to test out our new tent went well at Woodend Campsite. A large, level field with a stream running nearby was good and there was no noise once dusk descended.

We didn't use the showers whilst we were there but were met with queues for the toilets due to a large Duke of Edinburgh group being there.

The owners were friendly and gave us a brief tour of the facilities.

We walked into Austwick for tea - it would be wise to book in advance with the Gamecock Inn as we had to wait over 2 hours for a table.

A lovely little campsite which we are returning to in order to explore the Norber Erratics.

This campsite is a little gem. The tent pitches are nice and flat and the ground has lovely grass and pegs go in a dream. There's plenty of space for tents, cars, trailers and kids.

The toilets are kept very clean and despite the single shower and face wash basin there was very little queuing, if any. The owners are very welcoming and friendly.

The location is ideal for walking the peaks. The Gamecock Inn in Austwick is well worth a visit when you can't face creating a meal for five on two, small gas rings.

We found the Yorkshire Falconry centre (a five minute drive from the site) a great day out. The award winning pies and sausages from the butcher in Ingleborough are spot on too.

All in all, we thoroughly recommend this campsite.
