We stayed at Hunters Moon for four nights during half term and really enjoyed ourselves. Like all Caravan Club sites, it was clean, well looked after and well set out. We had a hard standing, with awning, pitch that had plenty of room and a small grassy area to one side for our table and chairs. Electric hook up was all in good working order and there is also a TV aerial plug in for reception.
There are two toilet/shower blocks that are very clean and well attended to. I never had to queue even though the site was full. There is a small shop in the reception and there is a couple of convenience shops a few minutes drive away towards Wareham.
The children's play area looked ok, not particularly big but a good place for our son to go to meet other children. There is a lovely dog walking field, which is fenced in and safe to have a run around. Nearby there are what look to be lovely walks in Wareham Forest which we didn't get the opportunity to do, but would certainly have done if we had more time.
The nearest pub, a short car ride away, The Silent Woman, does not allow children inside so we didn't stay long, but it did look nice.
Whilst there we visited Corfe Castle, Swanage, Lulworth Cove & Durdle Door, and Lineham; just a few of the many places in easy reach and just a short drive away. This is such a beautiful part of Dorset and we can't wait to return and would love to stay at Hunters Moon again. Highly recommended.

In true Caravan Club style the facilities were excellent, clean, lots of hot water etc. The staff were friendly and helpful. Although we would usually choose a hardstanding pitch we had to make do with grass as the site was almost full, but after all the dry weather it was fine. We weren't crowded in and there were no queues for the showers etc. And people were v friendly.
Dog walk was excellent, I was able to let my whippet & lurcher have a good blast in the well fenced dog walk. There is access onto foorpaths to Wareham and cross country straight from the site and if you can cope with the 15 minute walk on the road the Sitka Trail is excellent.
Wareham is a lovely town and we even managed to park our motorhome right by the river, where there was more nice walking. Best of all was the RSPB Arne reserve which the site wardens recommended to us.

Lovely site just outside Wareham, both hard standing and grass pitches that are large and well positioned.
Wardens and facilities were first class - shower blocks were spotlessly clean.
Would recommend the train from Wareham to Bournemouth for a good day out - parking is free at the train station on Sundays.
We would definitely return.

Stayed over the weekend. Site well run and hard standing pitches available for all year round use.
The washroom / toilet facilities were very good and spotless, block fairly new. One minor point the block is closed for cleaning mid morning at a time they are likely to be used.
The location is good for dogs with a gate at the rear of the site leading to the Forest.
Staff were helpful and friendly.
Local pub down the road, serving good beer and food, friendly and good service.

Popped into this site whilst in the area for future use,
I was met at the entrance and questioned as to what I wanted, I explained that I was a caravan club member and would like to have a look around the site.
I was then watched by a big guy with arms folded as I took a slow walk around this site,
Not welcoming at all, I went home and cancelled my membership.

We came last year. We are back again next week Sept 1st 2014. We loved it here. Staff were friendly and helpful. There are plenty of hook ups and non hook ups. The site was immaculate the toilets and showers were very clean. My grand daughter loved the kiddies play the play area, which is in a space away from main holiday makers. She loved every minute of her holiday. For us it was easy to get to all major towns on buses (which we did often)It was great to put the car away for a while. There is the Wareham forest at the top of the hill from the camp site 1/2 mile give or take. There is also a Sainbury's not far. You can catch a train into Bournemouth. I think this is one of the best sites we have been on. Downside we have to travel from Birmingham.

We were lucky enough to stay here during a heatwave, a rarity in recent years but very welcome! This site is in a great location near to Wareham which is a very pretty town, especially around the river area. It's very close to Poole and Bournemouth too and also all the attractions of the Isle of Purbeck. It's very well maintained with pristine shower facilities which look as if they have been recently refurbished. Great for dog owners as the dog exercise area is large and fully enclosed. A part of the site is dedicated to grass pitches and feels quite separate and shady, this is where the kids' playground is located too so the families tended to pitch there. Many of the hardstanding pitches also have a lot of tree cover and this was delightful in the hot weather. There is a very classy pub, the Silent Woman, within a few minutes' walk, it does very good food if a tad pricey, and the dining area is adults only. We were very impressed with this site and would definitely visit again.

No doubt about it, this is a great site. Easy access, large pitches ( we were on hard standing), brilliant for dogs and the nicest shower block I've ever been in. Throw in the lovely surroundings (forest, Weymouth, Poole, etc) and you have a top place to visit. We were there for early may bank holiday and the site looked 95% full but didn't feel it. Never had to queue for anything. The site is in pristine condition and the wardens helpful on the couple of times we had to trouble them. We have kids of 10 and 14, there's a play area there but they didn't use it. Large general purpose field and a separate one for dogs. There's also direct access through a security gate to another area for dog walking. Would absolutely visit this place again.

We loved this site. Beautifully laid out with decent pitch sizes. We loved that there were lots of trees and hedges between pitches: great for small wildlife & offers some privacy screening at the back of the van.
Wardens gave a warm welcome and specific instructions on how to pitch the van. The facilities are wonderful: clean, newly refurbished toilet block, plenty of hooks in the shower cubicle (vital in keeping everything dry!), decently sized changing area in the shower cubicle that is separate from the shower itself and sufficient numbers of toilets & basins for a June trip (didn't queue once and the site was full when we were there). The wardens had put up lots of 'shouty' signs in the ladies about what could / couldn't be disposed of down the loo: I understood why they were put there (it's to do with the sewerage system they use) but I felt a bit like I was at a military camp as the signs were forcefully written - polite signs asking us to refrain from putting cosmetic wipes etc. Down the toilet because of the sewerage system would have sufficed! Okay, 'shouty' rant of my own over.
There are a good number of waste / fresh water points with bins on the main part of the campsite but I felt sorry for anyone who was on the lower field (turning immediately left after coming through the entry barrier) as there were no water / waste points on this field. To get water they had a fair walk up a little but steep incline so if you like to have your waste / water nearby, avoid this field. (although the plus about this field is that it was very quiet as it isn't a natural thoroughfare on the site, it offered grass pitches, seemed to have more room, is near the dog walk & children's playground. )
The reception sold all of the usual essentials as well as some particularly gorgeous ice cream. The information shed was well stocked with current information about local attractions, markets, events etc. The wardens were always busy & it showed as this site us immaculately kept in every single aspect: they should win an award for how well it us maintained & presented.
The site is ideally located to see all of the attractions that this part of Dorset has to offer. It is true that none of the attractions are on the doorstep of the site (makes for a quiet site excluding the nearby road noise 'burr' & tanks booming occasionally at night - neither of which bothered us city dwellers) so unless you are a keen cyclist who enjoys cycling up & down hills on busy, narrow roads to get to see the local area, a car / moped is essential to get around. There is an off road cycle trail through nearby Wareham forest which is good as something to do one day but it doesn't take you anywhere.
Nearby is the lovely walled town of Wareham (has a small Sainsbury's, Co-op plus a few small specialist food shops including a gorgeous deli (can't remember the full name but I'm sure it had 'pig' in it's name somewhere -rather appropriate for me after a visit there!), a couple of banks, post office, a few nice looking restaurants (can't recommend any as we were full self catering on this particular trip) & pubs.
Slightly further afield are the towns & villages of Corfe Castle (gorgeous & atmospheric place), Swanage (unspoilt & non-commercialised seaside town), Weymouth (a bit bigger seaside & small port town that has been really smartened up ahead of the Olympics), Poole (bigger town if you like shopping - loved the port area but found the town looked tired with lots of empty units - the same story as other towns & cities in England), and Bournemouth further afield.
There are some other lovely inland towns like Dorchester that shouldn't be missed if you're happy not to be beside the sea. Shaftesbury (if you're old enough to remember the Hovis advert of a little boy pushing his bike up a cobbled hill which was filmed at Shaftesbury) is a glorious place to visit too.
Some fabulous beaches all along the coast but don't take your surfing/body boarding gear: it's not the coast for those activities.
All in all, a wonderful site in a beautiful county: we can see why my parents have been staying here for the last 8 years. We will be visiting again.

This is a brilliant site with forest walks straight from the site and an excellent base for visiting surrounding areas.
Facilities are excellent. Toilets and showers very clean and the water was nice and hot straight away (in December this was welcome). Washing up can be done out of the elements as that area has a door.
The neareat town is five minutes drive and a nice place to visit. Swanage and Corfe Cstle are perhaps a 20-30 minute drive away so again, lovely places to visit and lovely walking.
