We have just spent a week at this fantastic site. It is a large site with many different size pitches, all with hard standings with grass at the side for your awning. We were made very welcome on our arrival and told to drive around and pitch where we liked. We pitched on a large site which was a super pitch with water and drainage, we asked if this was alright as we only paid for a normal site, and he said 'if you are happy then I am happy' as it wasn't very busy. Such a friendly site, everyone working on the site were very friendly and helpful.

There are 2 facility blocks, one large one and a smaller one. We only used the small one which was absolutely fantastic and kept spotless. There is a small shop on site selling all the usual essentials. There is a large playground for the children and a very large field for dogs to exercise.

Lovely area, Widemouth Bay only a mile away and Bude about 4 miles, the owner runs a mini bus to these places if needed. Will definitely visit again.

We have stayed here regularly & have stayed loyal to this site by not using any others in the area.

This year our timing wasn't very good as the people who are normally there running the site were not around due to having to rush home to sort something out. This meant that a man who was parked up at the other end of the site was looking after every one. I'm sure he did if you saw him ! He would leave a note on the door with his phone number on to phone him. Normally the shop was open all day & most of the. Evening but it shut early which is a shame as it sells most things. We didn't take so much knowing this. It also meant we had a long walk to the toilets as we wanted to be by the fab play park.

The facilities are really good on this site& even though we won't be so loyal now we would still go back again.

Wifi is expensive & didn't seem as fast as it used to be ?

Site very easy to find off the A39 and was our first stop of our Cornish motorhome 'tour'.

First appearances, great ~ site looks new and well maintained, planted flowers, good roads & signs etc. You will need £10 refundable cash deposit for the security barrier. Warm welcome from reception and the lady only charged us the standard pitch rate for a fully serviced pitch.

Site is open with rural/countryside views, try and get near a hedge for some shelter if you can as in high winds site is exposed somewhat. You can actually hear the waves at night!

We were not affected by road noise but I suspect in high Summer season the A39 would be busier.

We were pitched over near the smaller and older toilet block near the dog walking field. Campsite VERY quiet & only about six units which was surprising as the weather was warm and sunny. The smaller toilet block was clean & functional but hubby said the 'private bathrooms' down the bottom of the site were amazing, new and spacious.

Shop was open every day when we were there, and was well stocked.

A very short drive from the site (along easy roads) takes you to Widemouth Bay, fellow motorhome users should be pleased to hear there are no overhead barriers to either of Widemouth Bay's car parks, plenty of room for even big units and we stayed there all day for £4. 50.

Closest out of town petrol station & supermarket is Morrisions which is on the Stratton road into Bude.

To sum up Widemouth Fields ~ was 'almost' perfection, especially in low season for pitch fees of £16. 50 a night you cannot go wrong! Ideal for dog lovers as they provide a huge dog walking field & don't charge a penny for your pets! Within a 3 minute drive of one of the best beaches in Cornwall. The only reason I've deducted a point is their wi-fi is hefty at £5. 95 a day.

We would definitely return!

We had a great stay at this park for the two weeks we were there. The owner put us on a super pitch even though we only paid for a standard pitch.

The owner and all the staff were really really great and couldn't do enough for us. The loo's were spotless despite the rainy weather, the shop well stocked, the dog walk field clean, pitches really well kept. Probably the best service we've experienced so far, and we've been on some great sites.

We've stayed at other sites close by and those were good, but this site was great, made all the more so by the sincere friendliness and helpfulness of the people running it.

Beaches great, surf excellent, Bude was about ten minutes away, Widemouth beach two minutes. Tintagel, Boscastle, Port Isaac, Bude as well as lots and lots of small beautiful bays to visit all within 30 minutes drive.

The free minibus service to local points and Bude was great though I must admit we didn't use it. That being said, I suspect we will next year.

The costs of this site is very competitive when compared locally.

Can't wait to return again.

Very warm welcome, nothing seemed to be to much trouble, good pitch, and toilets and showers that would not have been out of place in a 5 star spar, and that's good coming from a retired plumber!

We thought the location to be very central for all the sites and places of interest north Cornwall has to offer. There's a good bistro about 1 mile away that's very good food and value for money. Bude is only a few mins away along with two supermarkets,

All in all a great place to stay, happy camping.

Keep going back to widemouth fields. Love the open views, it's clean with lots of toilets & showers. Great play park, lots of green spaces with football nets.

The people who run it & work there are very friendly. They have a mini bus to take you to the beach & pick you up for a donation, which is fab if you don't want to move your van.

The shop stocks most things. There is a cafe which I haven't used but the English breakfast seems popular. Great beaches for surfing nearby.

Stayed at Widemouth Fields site in first week of June for one week. Site was easy to find as its on the A39, easy booking in, you will need £10. 00 which is refundable on leaving the site, this is for the electronic card which allows you to enter and exit the site securely.

We were given a pitch in the large tent field, it was a very generous sized pitch, level and seemed well drained. We did pitch in the rain but had no problems.

There are large showers with toilets in and also showers without toilets, hairdryers in both male and female bathrooms, showers are very hot, lovely in fact but they only last about 30 seconds if there are others using the showers at the same time, when I was there on my own they lasted about 1 minute, shower at night !. Good washing and drying facilities all indoors, and good washing up area also indoors.

Great outdoor kids area which my children loved. Well stocked shop, including cold beer, but unfortunately the one time we went to purchase beer, there was none.

There is also a little cafe attached to the shop, they serve breakfast till 12 ish, we did try it one morning, coffee. Not strong enough, it was very weak in my opinion, but breakfast was ok, young girl who serves in shop and cafe was very pleasant. All staff were very nice and very helpful, unfortunately it was the same old story about the weather though.

We were there in the 70 mile an hour winds, there was a lot of rain, the rain didn't drain away very well and we did actually see a car get stuck in the mud, but to be fair, the weather was very extreme, and when we took out tent down the ground underneath was surprisingly good, there was mud but not as much as we had expected.

This is a lovely site, two minute drive to widemouth bay and black rock beach, I would definitely go back to the site and the area is just lovely for surfing and exploring the area.

The one thing that this site could improve on is having a dedicated outdoor cold shower for washing off the wetsuits, we surfed almost every day and it was difficult to wash the wetsuits through under the drinking water tap, the site do not allow you to wash your wetsuits in the showers, and although we followed the rules some other campers didn't, having the outdoor cold shower would make this not only easier but safer as the floor in the showers when wet and sandy were treacherous.

All in all a very nice site which we will visit again and hopefully not with the 70 mph winds, .

We have stayed at this twice now, once in September 2010 and then this year at the same time. The location is good, being within easy reach of the coast at Widemouth (about 1 mile away) and other places by car.

It is possible to walk to the coast but I wouldn't recommend it as the roads are fast and busy, and there are no pavements. Bude is about 4 miles away, and has all the facilities of a medium-sized town.

The views of the countryside from the site are outstanding, as it high up, but the coast cannot be seen. It can be windy on this site, but that applies to any site on the coast in my view.

The washing and toilet facilities are very clean, modern and well-lit. Everything worked efficiently. It is possible to have your own water and grey waste facilities, if you pay a bit more.

The site has a useful shop. It is adjacent to the A39 road, but we were not aware of it once inside the caravan.

Overall it's a very good site, and we intend to go again.

Well I cant add much more than people have already said. Shower/toilet facilities very clean, grass still in fairly good nick considering we were there at end of season. The shop was small but somehow managed to stock everything we needed (including sealant for our leaky tent!), and considering the captive audience they don't take the mick on pricing. Same applies to the cafe; a mug of tea was just 90p.

Although I wouldn't like to walk to Widemouth beach (previous reviewer is correct, the road is nasty) the courtesy bus was excellent - pretty much a taxi, as they dropped us off in Bude and gave us a card, just said to call them when we wanted picking up - fantastic.

The people who run the site are really friendly, and the picnic benches which come with the electric pitches are a fantastic idea, especially if you have kids. Will definitely be returning next year!

Stayed here for 1 week in Aug 2011 and enjoyed it very much.

On arrival we received a warm and friendly welcome. We were offered a choice of available pitches all of which were quite flat and of good size.

On site there is a shop selling all the usual groceries and camping bits and bobs. Gas is also available and all not too pricey for once.

Breakfast is available at the cafe next to reception. We did not try this so cannot comment.

There is a nice play area for the younger kids and a football pitch for the slightly older ones.

A mini-bus service is offered in the daytime to the beach and Bude. It is well worth using this service as it saves on parking and you get all the local information from Martin the driver.

The whole site is clean and well maintained which is certainly true of the toilet and shower block and the chemical disposal. The shower toilet block is very modern and has an almost hotel feel to it.

Widemouth Fields is very dog friendly. Not only do they have a generous field to excercise dogs it is also totally separate (a lane runs between the site and the dog field) to the campsite so no complaints from the none dog-owners.

There is no pub on site or within walking distance. The nearest pub is approx a mile and a half. We became regulars at the Widemouth Manor, family friendly, entertainment on some nights, play area with bouncy castle and friendly staff / locals.

If I was forced to find faults with the site it would be that there is nothing within walking distance, though this may suit some people. No pubs, no shop etc are accessible without a car. The showers could do with a 'dry area' for getting dressed as the whole cubicle floor is flat and stays very wet.

Near to Widemouth beach there is a B&B called the Beach House that doubles up as a fish and chip shop. I had the worst fish and chips I have ever tasted from there. We had to throw it in the bin.

The local area is stunning and the Cornish people are just great. We'll definitely go back.
