The welcome was particularly friendly and not pushy, we were given the chance to look around and decide whether to stay. We pitched in the back field which was lovely and flat all over. Also, considering we were in high season, it had loads of space for families to play ball games etc.
Toilet and shower facilities were well cleaned and functional with plenty of space.
There was also a children's playground / play area and a small football pitch with goals.
I would recommend this site to old / young and/or families. Lovely views and easy access up and down the coast. It offer basic camping with a toilet block if that's what you want. On top of this there is laundry facilities and a shop/cafe if you want it. These are there for you but without it feeling too commercial or like a holiday 'park'.

Booked into Widemouth Fields for 7 nights stay, July 2011, first impressions were excellent, security barriers and warden call at the entrance.
Was told to basically pick our own pitch (elec hookup)as there was plenty of room, to say the least. Great Views of countryside. The site itself is well defined but due to it only being 3 yrs old is still quite open, especially the rear field, which is basically. A field. Once shrubs and trees are established it will be ideal.
The shower / toilets / washroom / launderette are of hotel cleanliness standards - the best we have ever experienced on a camp site. Showers were always hot, hairdryer was provided free.
Whilst we were there we spoke to a few of the guests who have camped all over and have chosen this site as their preferred site due to the location (3 miles outside Bude on the Atlantic highway)and the fact that it is not overcrowded. There is not a lot for young people to do; but they were in the middle of finishing off a play area.
Would definitely use this site again as it will only improve as it matures.

We spent a most enjoyable week at this site. The site shop was very handy for buying essentials, and also has a cafe attached, which looked very nice, although we did not need to use it.
The lady on reception was always very helpful, as was the warden who was always smiling & very friendly when passing by on his tractor, nothing was too much trouble for either of them.
The toilets & showers were very clean and pleasant to use. The chemical disposal was exceptional. We would be happy to visit again.

We arrived on the monday lunchtime and were greeted by the warden. It was a lovely friendly welcome. After getting our passcard, we were shown our tent field. (there is a £10 refundable deposit for the passcard and allows your car in and out but stops unwanted traffic coming in)
Lovely flat field and at this time of year there were only 5 tents in total! There are loads of picnic benches in the field so that each tent can have their own picnic bench which is a nice touch.
4 of the 5 tents (including us) had dogs. The dogs are to be kept on the lead while in the park but there is a large field 5 minutes walk away that is supplied by the site to allow off lead runs.
The toilet/shower block near us was lovely and clean, nice hot showers, free hairdryer. As there were not many of us there it was fine but I suspect it could be a little crowded when the tent field is full.
The caravan/camper section looks great too. Gravelled separated pitches.
There is a courtesy minibus if you want to go into Bude or Widemouth beach between 9. 45 and 6pm. I think it asks for a cost donation but would save on a lot of problems with parking and costs to park in town or at the beach.
As we were off peak the little cafe on site was not running and the shop was limited in what it offered but considering there were about 9 - 10 units in total its not suprising and was not a problem.
This site is about 1 1/2 miles outside of Bude center and a mile from Widemouth beach. There arent any pubs etc in walking distance but then again it meant it was quiet. We always like a site without clubhouses etc as they become too noisy and this one was just perfect. Easy to find as just off of the A39 road, and they do have a tea/ bacon roll/burger van in the layby outside.
There is a small playpark with nice new equipment for the kids, two football goal nets too.
I would recommend this site in a flash! A real gem. And reasonably priced too!

After staying here for a week last year with just me and my daughter we returned this year with mummy, and some friends and again had a fantastic stay.
The site, as always, was clean and well looked after and shop well stocked (although I seem to remember more pasties and breads last year but perhaps this was due to being quite ealry in the season!) Ray and
Donna offered excellent service and advice and nothing was too much trouble. The pitches are all a generous size and shower / toilet blocks are still some of the best I have come across. When part of a smaller group the bus service is excellent but we didn't use on this occasion.
A really friendly feel to this site and as I mentioned already Ray and Donna could not do enough to help even if I did time my visits to the shop at the most inconvenient times !
Free ice block freezing another massive winner fot the team. The site is so good that some other friends staying in a nearby caravan site came to us for BBQ's etc on the evenings as we had a nicer environment.

We have just returned from a week's stay at Widemouth Fields and what a great site. The location is fantastic giving the most amazing views of the Cornish countryside and only a short drive to Widemouth Bay and Bude. The coastal drive into Bude from the site is just breathtaking.
The site was not busy which went in our favour as we were allowed to take our pick of the pitches.
The toilet and shower blocks were modern and clean and the showers were of good size and you had plenty of room to dry yourself and get dressed without banging your elbows!
The site has been open for just over two years but in my opinion they have got it down to a 'T'. They also offer a free minibus service to take you down into Widemouth Bay and Bude which is great as you don't have to pay the car parking fees. There is a supermarket in Bude and a lovely little fish and chip take away in Widemouth Bay.
We would definitely return to this site.

We spent two nights here and were blown away by the site, the washrooms were modern & scrupulously clean, showers well thought out with a seat and rack to put your sponge and shower gel ect in.
Although we did not use the disabled facilities they were top notch, so cleverly thought out. Showers & hairdryer were free to use. Two rooms with a bath for those who prefer a bath & first class mother & baby room.
There was a room for washing up dishes which was also lovely & clean.
The chemical disposal point was the cleanest I have ever seen, we were so impressed.
There was a lovely large children's play area and a field to play football and ball games.
The hardstanding pitches were level.
This is one of the loveliest sites we have stayed at in a long time, and we will certainly be going back again.
The surrounding area is most beautiful with Widemouth Bay a 5 minute drive away, which has an absolutely stunning coastline, the beach has rock pools when the tide is out.
Bude town centre only a short drive with two supermarkets in town & another just outside town.

Nice clean site and pleasant wardens. Plenty of open spaces.
£10 required for barrier card.
Two toilet blocks which were reasonably clean with plenty of free hot water.
Downside, The site is at the top of a hill next to the A39. Steep hill down to the beach, about one mile. The site is set in a huge field and most pitches have little shelter from the elements. Large tent field and children's playground.
We took our mountain bikes but could hardly use them as it's not a cycle friendly area. Although there are a few bridleways. The main roads have no footpaths or room for cyclist. A39 very busy. If your not a cyclist this site is for you.

Brilliant site. On arrival after 5 hours of travelling we were welcomed by very friendly staff. After a late breakfast at their cafe - excellent food, we were shown to our pitch. More than adequate to pitch our large tent on. Very dog friendly with lovely dog walk area away from tents and adequate enough for a good run.
Nearby Black Rock beach is lovely and dog friendly all year round so our dog got to paddle as well as ourselves. Shop open good hours and very reasonably priced, stocking more or less everything you could need for your holiday.
Toilet/shower facilities were excellent and very clean as was the washing up area. The sister site at Widemouth Bay does a lovely roast dinner on a Sunday and Wednesday and although I am vegetarian this was given minus the meat.
Would definitely visit again.

A brilliant site. We booked last minute and were despairing of finding anywhere that had availability but they had spaces due to the fact that the site has only been open 18 months. We had to delay our visit due to family illness and they were very accommodating and moved our booking without any fuss.
The toilets and showers were exceptionally clean (men and womens) and they were free! Nice roomy showers too- rarely had to wait.
Shop was handy, everything you would need and fairly well priced and the staff were all lovely and helpful.
We pitched on the end field which was great as there was plenty of space to play for our son.The pitches were clearly marked with wooden posts at either end and they were very generous.
They even rolled the grass after each camper left to prepare for the new.
Great dishwashing facilities.
Lovely playground and giant games.
Only complaint was our noisy neighbours who brought a telly and played it very loud until cut off time- but the owners were diligent and took note of this and sorted it out.
Overall fantastic site - lovely staff- very helpful. We will definitely be going again.
