Lovely camp site very friendly staffs who aim to please, nothing to much trouble. Facilities immaculate and cleaned very regularly. Two toilet blocks with a mix of showers and washing basins. Lots of hot water to shower with but beware with young children as water is extremely hot. Childrens large play area but a little far away from the pitches so unable to watch young children from a distance. Well stocked shop. Pitches a good size on a slight slope. Beach about a mile down the road with toilets shop and surf shop. On the whole a very pleasing site which I would definitely visit again.

Just got back from a week at Widemouth Fields, along with my son, daughter in law and grandaughter (they were camping), what a brilliant site, difficult to criticise anything about the site. On arrival we were made very welcome, directed to our sites (adjacent) and staff assisted us to site van. We were opposite the smaller of the amenity blocks, which were very well maintained and kept very clean at all hours and though the site was busy only needed to queue once for potwash.
The pitches are large, hardstanding, spacious and well laid out, with 16 amp hookup. Water points and rubbish bins are plentiful, and a recycling scheme in operation. There is a very well stocked shop on site, selling virtually everything you may need, from a newspaper to a tin opener, and of course the essential Cornish Pasty. The cafe provides a lovely man sized full english for £6:50. There is a large children's play area and grass field for games. The larger of the amenity blocks has a launderette. Although not aproblem to us, the site can be a little exposed to wind, which may affect tenters.
All in all, a brilliant site, well up to CC and C&CC standards, reasonably priced, in a good location for coastal areas, nearby Bude has 3 supermarkets (that we found), will definitely be returning, but for a longer period.

Had a great time spent two weeks in the rain but still had a good fun, the drainage issue is really in caravan field. Very clean tidy toilets showers. Have stayed before last year, it just get better. Have booked again for 12 days end of aug, hope weather better. Staff are very helpful at all times. Good shop, cafe good. The site has a bus very cheap, the surf is great around Bude, lots to do for all the family in the surrounding area,
It's the best site I've stayed on for a while.

We liked this site and it had a lot of plus points but there were too many 'niggles' for us to return.
The welcome we received was great, really friendly and informative, and the staff were (mostly) very nice throughout our stay. The pitches were big (though literally a field 'cut up' into equal pitches so a little lacking in character and not the prettiest of sites). The kids play area is amazing. There are wooden picnic benches dotted around which you can bring to your pitch if you're early enough to claim one. We did, and it made a real difference to our stay.
There is a shop and cafe which is really handy. We didn't use the cafe but the shop is horrendously overpriced. There's also a charge to freeze your ice packs (30p per ice block) which we felt was a bit cheeky since you just bunged them in the meat freezer yourself so there was no extra cost or effort to the owners. There were family bathrooms which were charged at £2 for 45 mins, and the laundry was £4 per load. Essentially I felt that compared to other sites the extra charges were not reasonable.
That said, we had a good stay and the facilities were great. Just a couple of points which I found frustrating - there are no mirrors in the shower cubicles, or anywhere to put your stuff and I hated having to put my clean clothes on a toilet. Alo there was nowhere to put your stuff down near the sinks, so you ended up either having to keep it tucked under your arm and wash one handed, or put it in between the sinks and get a soaking wet towel! A couple of benches/chairs to put your stuff on would have made a real difference.
The only other point to make is that the wind at this site is unbelievable, due to it's location by the sea and the exposed layout of the site. You'd need wind breaks to camp here for sure, and on a couple of nights we feared for our tent, it seemed it might do a 'Wizard of Oz' and take off with us inside.
A good clean, roomy site, modern facilities, could be great with a little more attention to detail. Ultimately the wind did it for us and I don't think we'll be returning.

Just got back from a week spent on this site.
What a pleasure it was - the staff could not have been more friendly and helpful. The site itself wasn't full by any means and we were given the choice of pitches, which allowed us to have 2 vans and a tent in close proximity.
The site itself is ideally situated for trips both ways along the coast.
The pitches were very spacious and well drained. The area of grass between the vans could accommodate an extra large awning with room to spare.
The playground was frequently used by my grandchildren, and it wasn't noisy at all.
The site shop had more than enough stock to allow for making a meal ,however, breakfast was offered at a reasonable cost of £4.95 for a good plateful, or £6.50 for a mamoth feast !
The toilet/shower block was excellent in that they were spotlessly clean and well stocked. Mops and cloths are available to use after your visit to the facilities - and it helps keep them nice for others.( unfortunately not everyone used them )
The only problem came when it had rained for 2 days , and people from the camping field were tramping mud into the block. Maybe a tap outside to clean muddy wellies would have helped keep most of the mud under control. However, the campers themselves could have changed into flip flops to use the showers maybe as a consideration to other users .!
The ground staff acted on the mud situation promptly by digging up the mud and tarmacking the entrance to the camping field. Credit to them for attending to problems swiftly to alleviate the situation.
They were on constantly the go maintaining the grass and grounds and are a credit to the site.
We definitely recommend this site and look forward to using it again.

We picked the worst weather of the year to visit Gerry and his boys in Cornwall but enjoyed it all the same. The site is relatively new and Gerry's vast experience in planning the site really shows. The whole site is very well laid out for adults and children alike. Security on site was excellent. Card controlled barrier and I bumped into one of the wardens in the dark on my way for a 'comfort visit', so the grounds were being patrolled even late at night. The toilet blocks were great, always clean, free showers and a good pressure ones at that, not the sort you need to wander around to get wet. The shop was stocked better than Sainsburys and Morrisons combined!
The closest pub to the site has closed down but is reputedly opening again in 2010. Gerry is looking at the possibility of opening a small bar in the cafe which would be perfect. The site has a bus service for residents which gets you to the beach and Bude in around 10 mins. This also brings you back until early evening and its around a £6 for a taxi back from Bude for late night revellers. Great play area for the kids and a small football field too. Family bathrooms where you can go and have soak and some privacy.
The entrance to the field we were on suffered badly in the rain which was torrential. The next morning the guys were out putting in drains. They were not happy with the results and a JCB arrived in the afternoon and 30 metres of new road was constructed immediately. There is obviously a lot of attention to detail on this site and the customer service is brilliant. You are made to feel very welcome and we will definitely be returning again.

What can I say! absolutely the best site we have ever visited, actually it is BETTER than the best Caravan club site available. The site is very nicely set out,no over crowding and spacious pitches. Excellent fully serviced pitches with Elec/Water/Waste and hard standing. Superb road access to all pitches. One excellent feature is the shuttle bus which will take you to Bude or the beach for couple of £s at anytime of the day. The facilities are 5 star with excellent toilets and showers. A superb shop which is like a mini supermarket, gas supplies and even a breakfast restaurant if you decide to let someone else do the cooking, and, inexpensive as well + good value (includes a newspaper service).
The staff are exceedingly helpful and nothing is too much trouble. The gound staff are hardworking and friendly. An ideal location for Bude, Tintagel, Boscastle and walking the coast paths with fabulous view of the coast. We are here for a week but wished we had booked for longer. Perfect.Faultless. Wish every site was like this.

Can't rave enough about the site and all of the staff. We arrived just after all of the flooding and were automatically relocated to a hard standing pitch as a precaution. As it happened, the weather improved tremendously so it was a win, win situation.
We received a warm welcome and were personally shown to our pitch. The kind bearded gentleman (sorry didn't get your name) even advised us about which way to pitch it away from the wind. The entrance swipe system is a great security feature and works really well. All of the facilities were 5*, the shower blocks, washing up room, laundry room, shop and cafe. Although we didn't use the mini bus service, we chatted to people who had and they said it was fantastic. All of the staff were friendly and couldn't help you enough. Everywhere was clean, signs were clear and the site well maintained. I would advise you to be careful when showering because myself and many others left our shower gel and shampoo behind ( which then went missing) The hanging tray becomes hidden when you pull open the shower curtain, so it's easily forgotten. However. You only do it once!
The pitches are generous in size, but I would recommend a wind break for privacy as there are no hedgerows dividing them. This did reduce the midge visits though, so it's not a complaint. It was also nice to see young children riding their bikes and scooters safely round the site. Altogether a fantastic time was had by us all and we will definitely revisit.
Widemouth Bay, Bude, Tintagel, Clovelly, The Eden project, Padstow and the Lost Gardens of Heligan were all commutable and well woth a visit. Thanks again to all of the staff and the owners, we wish you continued success with your relatively new site.

We have just come back from a week at Widemouth with friends of ours and their little boy. The site is situated just of the A39 and is easy to get to.
The facilities are absolutely superb with brand new shower blocks of which there are two, a large one and a smaller one. The cubicles have their own toilet with the shower and sink giving complete privacy and they are large enough so that everything doesn't get wet !
There are plenty of water points and lots of fully serviced pitches - which we had.
The playground is great with a very soft ground and there is also a playing field for ball games.
As a host Jerry and his team were brilliant! Nothing was too much trouble for them and they would go out of their way to help.
There is a shuttle bus which runs you to the beach or into Bude and picks you up for a small fee which was an excellent idea and allowed us all to have a few glasses of wine at the pub on the beach.
The place even has a small cafe if you cant be bothered to cook breakfast.
Although some of the site can be exposed to winds there are also plenty of areas which are protected and again you can choose your pitch so there is lots of choice.
All in all I would highly recommend Widemouth Fields and will certainly be staying here again !

This park is very clean and tidy the toilets and showers look like new. The bin area also has the taps for fresh water and not to far spaced out. This is the first time I used my t/t and their are plenty of pitches with electric, had the choice of hard standing with grass either side or the all grass area for tents with electric. They also catered for standard tents so every type welcome. You get a friendly welcome and the on site shop will rival bude for prices. Had a great couple of days. Wide mouth bay is about a mile away with Bude being 3 miles. Will use this park again
