Just got back from 3 days stay at this site.
What a gem of a site it is, easy to get to with fantastic views all around.
The site is behind the Pub with 5 hardstandings 3 of which you have to go across grass to get to, we managed to pitch up ok with our motor mover but did drive onto the grass and it is fairly hard underneath so should not be a problem for others. The site folows the contours of the land and the pitches can slope very slightly and you may need a levelling block depending which pitch you choose. As in previous reviews the toilet/showers are new, modern and immaculate, The landlord and landlady are very friendly indeed and offered to bring us out a cup of tea when we arrived in pouring rain.
The site is on The Limestone way and close to the Monsal trail, all in all great walking country and very close to Monsal Head and Bakewell.
The pub had a lovely roaring fire going each night, they even sell the best raspberry and Chocolate muffins and coffee I have ever tasted.
The site is camping and caravanning club and they also take 10 tents.
The only criticism I can make about this site is that the hardstandings (gravel) are a bit small, they could do with being about 2 feet larger all round but we cant wait to go back to this lovely site.

Arrived on Nov 5th, bonfire weekend, chose the site as we were with 2 other caravans, and we all had dogs. The site only has 5 hard standing pitches (a couple of the pitches at the rear of the site may require a 4x4 in the winter, as you do have to cross some grass to reach the hardstanding) which on this occasion left us with the site to ourselves which was fantastic.
The showers and toilets are immaculate, plenty of hot water, and not them horrid push button showers, well done the Wsterloo ! We spent Friday night sat at the side of a roaring log fire in the pub, Saturday night we returned to eat in the pub, lovely home cooked food, very friendly landlord and landlady. The views from the site are wonderful, although as others have said close to a main road, this did not bother us at all. We highly recommend this site, infact reluctant to leave this report as I want to keep it a closely guarded secret ... or you will all want to come. Looking forward to returning soon.

Just arrived home from a weekend at the Waterloo Hotel. A group of 7 of us,out to enjoy a 4x4 weekend, travelling the lanes and enjoying the spectacular views across the higher Peak District.
2 groups occupied caravan pitches and the other 2 took advantage of the bed and breakfast facilities.
Whilst everything always looks better when the sun is shining, my initial impression was what a beautiful position and a very well laid out site. Each 'plot' was spacious, surrounding area well mowed. The site has 2 shower and WC rooms which were clean, water was hot and toilet roll plentiful. Water and chemical disposal close, but not that close.
We ate at the pub both evenings and I cannot recommend it enough. Menu covers everyone's tastes, portions are generous and service is good. Best rib eye steak I have had in a while, cooked to my medium rare request to perfection.
Landlord was friendly, helpful and extremely accommodating in all aspects allowing us to leave our caravan on the car park whilst we visited nearby Bakewell after we were to check out.
Although situated on the busy A6 and a little noisy in the day, this does not affect the tranquillity of the site and no noise was heard from the confines of our caravan in the evening or morning.
All in all I would definitely recommend this site. Position for surrounding area's perfect. I am looking forward to revisiting.

Just returned from a couple of nights at the Waterloo. 4 adults 2 children 3 dogs. Arriving at 7pm on Friday evening, we were welcomed straight away and told we could pitch wherever we wanted. The tent field is on a slight slope, but not the worst I had been on.
So tent up and unpacked, we went into the pub for some much needed beer & food. They do not have an extensive menu, but it was excellent quality home cooked food. Dog was allowed in the pub to sit with us while we ate.
Shower rooms were clean and showers were hot.
After a day in Bakewell, our second evening was spent the same way as the first. Friendly welcome in the pub and more tasty food & beer.
Sunday saw us packing up and going for a 2 hour walk before heading home. There is a lovely walk behind the hotel with some beautiful views.
As previously stated, there is little/nothing to do for young children. If you are just looking for somewhere to pitch up and relax, this site is ideal.

We stayed here for 2 nights (9th to 11th July. It was very easy to find on the A6 between Buxton and Bakewell. I recommend the Monsal Trail which is about 30 minutes walk but you also can go on the Limestone trail which is behing the Campsite/Hotel itself.
Nice small campsite with very good Shower/toilet facilities. Great pub at location and very friendly staff. Only downside, next to the A6 and couldn't find any recycling bins.

We stayed here for two nights and booked pretty last minute. We managed to get two hardstanding pitches for our trailer tents with electric hook up for £15 a night which we thought was brilliant. Our dog was free too!
There are only 6 hard standing pitches and a small camping field. Both in excellent condition with brilliant views. You soon get used to the noise from the main road, but you don't hear much at night at all.
It is great having a pub only 30 secs away! We sat in the beer garden in the evening- right next to our tent!
The owners were lovely, really laid back and friendly. The food in the pub was nice and the beer too! Breakfasts are great and huge if you have the big one- they serve till 11.30am on a Sunday morning- perfect!
There were only two toilets and these were unisex. They were extremely clean and were a joint shower/wet room. If the toilets were full you were able to use the toilets in the pub.
We were originally a little unsure- just how it sounds being at the back of a pub. But we would definitely go back again. The location is perfect for walks and either a trip into Buxton or Bakewell. All the reviews on here are good too so we just wanted to back them up really.
We would recommend unreservedly!

We stayed for one night, last weekend in June
Site is easy to find, off the A6. The camping field is next to the pub, off the back of the carpark.
This was our first ever camping trip and thoroughly enjoyed it. The landlord was friendly and helpful and we had no trouble finding a spot on Saturday morning. It did get busier through the day though. We pitched the tent then set off toward the Monsal Trail. 6 hours later, we trudged wearily back to our tent! We definitely needed a shower when we got back - there are two toilets/shower wet rooms and the pub toilets can also be used when open. Even though the site was packed, we only saw one or two people queuing at any time and we didn’t have to queue at all.
We ate in the pub – the meals are HUGE! Combined with our tiredness from the walk, it meant we couldn’t finish it all. Had a few pints of real ale and settled back in the tent to read then collapse. Despite being near the main road and back of a pub, it wasn’t really noisy – I had a bit of trouble sleeping but that was because it was my first time in a tent!
All in all – I would definitely recommend the Waterloo Hotel, as it’s friendly, well situated, great facilities and all for only £10 a night – bargain!

The site was easy to find although we did pull into to hotel car park, we were greeted by the site owner and asked which pitch (hardstanding) we would like to stay on, she was very helpful and friendly.
The views from the site are lovely and plenty of walks if that is what you wanted to do. Buxton and Bakewell are nearby if you want to check out the shops.
The site must be one of the smallest (Six hardstanding for caravans with electric)we have ever stayed on but it was good, clean and everyone was friendly
Good food served in the pub the owners and staff were all so friendly, we will definitely be going back maybe when the weather decides to pick up!

Stayed here for 3 nights. Great location to leave the motorhome and just go out walking. Also, an hourly bus service all towns on the A6. Road is a tad noisy in the daytime but not at night.
Pub does good real ale (Robinsons) and food e.G. Pie and pudding was £7.50. Well cooked, tasty and filling. Nice real fire in the pub too. There is also another pub in the village but we didn't try it so can't make a comment.
We had a hardstanding pitch at the rear of the pub, needed to use the levellers as there was a very slight slope but no problem. Hook-up was fine. Two unisex toilets with shower. Good hot showers but toilets were cold as no heating on. No problems with queues for the toilet or showers. There is also a camping field to the side of the pub which looked fine. Good view of the landscape from the site too.
Owners were very friendly and helpful. A couple in a tent had forgotten their sleeping bags and the nights were very cold. The landlady immediately lent them a couple of duvets.
Would I stay there again? Yes and I will! Great location if you like walking and good beer, good pub, friendly people. Really nice pub dog too :-)
I don't have kids so I'm not really qualified to comment on child-friendliness but I suspect the site is not good for little children as there is nothing but wide open spaces and the pub.

Stayed here for the weekend, 5 adults 3 dogs. Had a brilliant time. Really friendly and helpful, had the camping field to ourselves, its fairly level, lovely location, loads of walks. Great pub, nice food very welcoming.
Two toilet blocks with hot showers, the site also has electric hookups. Really nice place to stay, definitely recommend it. It is on the A6 so easy to find and the traffic noise is minimal.
