Arrived here on a lousy day, persistent rain and quite windy. Basically it's a pub/inn at the roadside of the A6, we got on the site and pitched at the first hard standing as the pub wasn't open at the time. It's quite a small sloping site. Hooked up and got the kettle on and enjoyed the views although the weather wasn't helping. When the pub opened I met the friendly staff who explained where everything was, paid £15 for a night. We went in the pub in the evening for a couple of beers, Guinness was £2.90 .It's a nice pub with a warm atmosphere, most of the places are for diners and there were quite a few, there's also some large rooms available for functions etc. We had a very peaceful nights sleep, the traffic noise did not start till later. My wife and I both had showers in the wet rooms, good powerful showers, the only criticism was the sink would not drain quickly and was probably the source of the smell in there. We would go back for a stopover.

When we arrived at the camp site it was not really what we expected, just a field next to a main road, how ever, we stayed for the weekend. Great walks nearby and fantastic views when out an about, especially monsal trail, we stopped off for a bite to eat at the monsal head, lovely spot. Its just a shame the campsite the field was waterlogged, not enough shower and toilet facilities, and not very welcoming! Will definitely be returning to the Peak District though

Please note, this listing and reviews refer to the Waterloo Hotel campsite in Taddington, not the Waterloo Pub in Biggin By Hartington which is a different site.

Just returned from the Waterloo hotel tent with 2 adults - stayed for 2 nights.
Well drained camping field. Excellent showers although only 2 of them. Very friendly/welcoming atmosphere in the pub and excellent beer. Plenty to do in the area.
The one downside to a stay at the Waterloo is the sheep - possibly the noisiest flock I've ever heard in my life they are at the back of and to the side of the camping field so their noise is unavoidable. They do continue their baaing well into the night and start up again early on. If you're a light sleeper would recommend ear plugs. Maybe something you'd get used to if you stay a few days but not sure. Also a fair bit of road noise as pub is directly on the A6.

We stayed for 4 nights in June and had fab time. Landlady extremely helpful, food in the pub excellent. Thursdays is 2 steaks for £12 which was lush, Fridays is Pie & a pud for £7.50 - this was a really hearty meal after a day on the moors. Very good portions, great value. We had 1 day of torrential rain but the site didn't get boggy. Two toilets & showers that stayed remarkably clean. On arrival we were the only unit there, by Saturday there were still only 6 units. This is a hidden gem which I thought was super value for money. Morrisons is only 5 miles away so it is perfect.

A really nice weekend here even tho it poured with rain on second night, the ground wasn't soggy. A lovely area and the people from pub very friendly and obliging. The toilets and showers where very clean and kept like that regular. We would certainly go back to that site again. The pub was cosy and did lovely meals at reasonable prices and even thoough it was extremely busy we didn't have to wait long for meals.

We visited this site in June and were a little dubious due to lack of reviews, however we were pleasantly surprised.
The site is situated between Buxton and Bakewell ( 6 miles from both) in a lovely buttercup field. I have three children ( 9, 7 and 2) and they loved the open space.
The site has stunning views with sheep on 2 sides and the landlady's horses Nia and Barney on the other, definitely rural camping at its best.
There are two new toilet and shower rooms- very clean, and more toilets in the pub. The land lady is very helpful and accomodating ( even bringing paracetamol to our injured daughter). We cannot comment on the pub food as we didn't eat there.
All in all a lovely basic site. Just pack your bat and ball and play rounders until 1030( as we all did)We will be returning very soon!
