This was perfect campsite. The reason for coming here was my wife was on a course up here so handy for me to come as we both had the following week off. The site is only 15 mins from newark town centre. Which has most supper markets except tescos. The new owners are very friendly and helpful. The campsite is very quiet and has about 8 hookups two toilets and a shower which is 1 pound and last about five minutes. The shower takes only pounds and twenty pence coins. We were camping and site is ideal for tents. It rained every day we were here and it did not effect us as there is plenty of things to do in this area. We had a pleasant stay and we will most definitely be coming back. And recommend this site to friends and family. Thank to Fred and Rose for a wonderful week on your camp site. I stayed on this campsite from November through to march. We were on hard standing so the weather didn't bother us. We went every weekend and loved it. There is plenty of room around you with apple trees but secluded if you wanted it. You can go in any direction and find something to do. I would recommend this site and I would certainly go back

Just returned from a long weekend at Meadowfield and loved it.
The location is great, we visited both Southwell and Newark.
They have toilets and a shower which for a site of this size is unusual. Both the toilets and shower were more than adequate and very clean.
To say how much rain we have had recently the site was in very good condition.
On arrival the owner I think showed us to our pitch, he was very helpful and polite. We even had our own litter bin put by our van.
Will certainly return again in the summer when the weather is nicer.

We have just returned from a week at Meadowfield Gardens and we have mixed feelings about the site.
The area is good, only a few minutes to Newark or Southwold and the Waggon & Horses Pub at Halam was absolutely great for food and very friendly.
The site has a lot of potential and lots of space although there is no children's play area, we didn't find that the trains were too intrusive and the water and electric were very convenient for the hard-standings but the site is up for sale and has been it would seem since August 2012. From the pictures it looks like it was great in its prime, now it is just neglected.
The ground was well drained and mud was not a problem even with the heavy rain which arrived with the St Jude Storm while we were there.
There had been a rally on over the previous week with over 20 caravans there which was not a problem for us but what was horrible was that the toilets and shower were not cleaned from the Sunday they left until the Saturday after when we left. The small toilet block (a gents, a ladies and a shower) would have been adequate and I didn't even mind taking my own toilet roll which I have never had to do in ten years caravanning but it was very dirty - I won't go into details someone may be eating.
We prefer to use the showers on site rather than the van but there was no way I was showering in there, it was dark and dingy and dirty.
The rubbish from the rally was piled up around the bins as they were full from the Sunday to the following Saturday too.
The wild life pond is completely overgrown with what looks like Yellow Flag Iris and there is no water visible at all, the borders between the greenhouses and the grass near the hard standings are overgrown and full of grass and the greenhouses themselves need quite a bit of glass replacing and tidying up. Its a great shame as like I said earlier the site has great potential.
The site manager showed us to our pitch and seemed nice enough but I felt that it would not have taken long to have done a bit of weeding on the hard standings and pinned the black membrane back down and to have tidied the rubbish away from the Rally. I don't know who was responsible for the cleaning of the toilet block
We were the only touring caravan on there from the Sunday to the Saturday aside from a motorhome that came in in the dark one evening and left early the next morning and it made us feel like we weren't enough to clean toilets/move rubbish for.

Returned from a pleasant weekend at Meadowfield
Facilities as described by everyone before me
Nice laid back site with not too many rules
Plenty of space
Lots of scrumping opportunities!
Nice goats
Andy the warden nice helpful chap on his mower
My only gripe was that not all the dogs were on leads despite this being one of the few rules of the site and people drove too fast through the site but this isnt the campsites fault just the other campers!
Entrance into the site nice and level, could do with a signpost on the entrance though cos we went past it
Will visit again

Site was busy, but they soon found us a space in the overflow part, The Orchard. Lovely location, in the middle of two pubs within walking distance Crown in Rolleston, and Bromley Arms is Fiskerton(about 1 - 1. 5 miles) Toilets (1 male and 1 female) and shower (1 - £1 per 5 minutes) are adequate, very friendly service, and a very tranquil stay. Newark is the nearest place for shopping, with an Asda etc.

We have just returned from a long weekend at Meadowfield. We had a friendly welcome from the resident warden who also helped us reverse onto one of 2 hardstanding pitches. We were given a tour of the site including being introduced to the resident goats :D
The toilets were clean and adequate. The shower was clean and although it was £1. 00 for 5 minutes the water was hot and really we could have both showered in that time. The grass was cut short and the water taps close to the pitch. We had the use of picnic tables and chairs [handy]
The site was peaceful and along with our friends and their 2 girls the youngest 2 and a half. We had a really relaxing stay. One too return to soon as it's midway between our two homes.
A Big thank you to the warden.

Very basic campsite. Facilities as described by others. Made very welcome by the owner on arrival. Pleasant ground staff too. Me and the dog had the large rally field to ourselves. Stayed 2 nights @ £5 a night. Cheap or what? Shower £1 a go for 5 minutes.
A place to wash up would have been handy. As the site is in an agricultural belt apparently there are restrictions on what he can do with the site at the moment which is a great shame as there is a lot of potential to the place.
Outside the campsite there is a pleasant walk to the River Trent (about a mile away) down a bridlepath, turn left out the gate and it's on the bend in the road in front of you.
I will use this site again as it local and a nice get away from the rat race.
Only downside to location is a railway half a mile away with freight trains thundering through the night (It's quiet & sound carries a lot at night which is why you can hear them so take earplugs!).

Booked a last minute weekend just down the road from home to get away from it all. We were welcomed by Alan on arrival who directed us to our pitch, which was in the rally field, ideal for us with 3 dogs.
The site itself we absolutely loved, it is rustic and yes it is a shame that currently the gardens/growing area isn't operating as it could, but the business is up for sale and obviously something has forced a change in circumstances since the site initially opened.
There is a facilities block of one toilet each and a shared shower, which were in good condition. However if it was a busy weekend then this may create a queue and some hostility.
The pitch sizes are large and the ground firm with meadow grass underfoot.
Some people in a large tent felt the site wasn't meeting their needs, it meets the certificated status it holds plus offers toilets and shower so to be fair you can't expect anything else.
It is a beautiful location with a short walk to the river and plenty of quiet countryside on all sides.
This quiet site was exactly what we needed for a peaceful weekend away, which was exactly what we got aside from the tent of middle aged moaners next door. Who really need to learn that tent walls are thin, and that not everyone needs to know which bits of your body you plan to wash. Also if you choose to go away in a tent but expect hot running water, a shower block with shelves and a shop on site then please ask these questions before you arrive rather than criticising a small site for offering exactly what it says.
We will definitely return here. We would buy it if we had the cash

A nice quiet, simple site.
One ladies, one gents and a shower. EHU if you need it and disposal points for grey water and chem loo.
Enjoyed staying here, previous reports remain fairly accurate.
Field somewhat boggy in places, but not an issue for us.
Warm, helpful welcome.
Nowhere to wash up if you are camping.
On a quiet farm track if the kids want to cycle around and space on the site for them to play in, but they need to be able to entertain themselves.
