Just enjoyed a great weekend at sunset view. If you want proper camping with firewood, great views in gods own county this is the site for you. Basic site so if you are expecting luxuries then its not for you. But it's got clean toilets, clean shower and a washing up area what more do you need on a camping trip. The owners are great, really friendly and helpful and the kids ( boy and girl 7 and 4) loved the animals on the farm and pestering the owner (but he didn't seem to mind the help :-)) the only disappointment I think was from the kids because they didn't manage to say bye to Blue the dog when we left because the owner was out somewhere.

Most campsites were being greedy and awkward by not letting us pre book a large group for 2 nights instead of 3 on bank holiday weekend. Finally we came to this one and we all enjoyed it especially the kids. The first impressions weren't great as we all drove past it as it isn't properly sign posted. Also its a working farm so the entrance looks run down with cars every where. Don't let this put you off as there is a big field with a nice view where you can have fires and put the tents wherever you want and not get told what to do. The people on site were helpful, dropping us off eggs, wood and taking our rubbish away. Overall we enjoyed our stay and would highly recommended and will be returning. More than one shower wouldn't go a miss

We stayed here for 3 nights with our daughter and two other families, and due to the utterly horrendous storm, we ended up being the only group on the field. Obviously the owners cannot control the weather but they were fantastic in making sure we were all right; that we had enough wood, food, etc. In fact they couldn't have been more helpful if they tried.
I loved the fact that this is a working farm, the kids were delighted with the animals and it felt safe to just let them run around and play (weather permitting).
The views are to die for, absolutely spectacular, the owners are very friendly and helpful and the tea wagon is a nice touch. The only thing I'd fault this site on is the toilet which could do with a good clean to get rid of all the cobwebs. The toilet in the shower room is much more pleasant.
This is very much a back to basics site which is exactly what we like.
Overall, despite the weather, we had a great time and are looking forward to going back, hopefully with a better tent and nicer weather.

First of all some really good points
- fields are big and you can camp where you like, we had 2 tents and no-one pitched with 50ft.
- you can have fires
- great views over the bay
- farm animals to keep youngster entertained
- location to whitby and robin hoods bay is great
- there is a mini bus that will take you to either for £1 each saving on hassle and cost of parking (all car parks seem to have a minimum of 4hrs stay around £4 when you may only be there an hour or so)
- owners are really friendly and helpful
- they have a catering van which is useful though we didn't really use it apart from a cup of coffee. They also make their own currys using the meat from site.
- you can also buy produce from farm for BBQ's, e. G. Burgers, chops etc
- ignore comments from others saying owners do not care what goes on. They check the tents on the site every hours, even during the night and if there is any trouble or undesirables they are booted off. We saw two parties removed off site for unruly behaviour in the early hours.
Bad points
- only 2 toilets, one in the shower room. The shower is temperamental.
- toilets are not cleaned regularly
- two taps for drinking water, one in the toilet.
- the bar area is dry but dirty should be cleaned so better use can be made of it, a lick of paint and some decent chairs and tables would make it a social area for everyone
- there is a courtyard but again a little run down, with a few more pots and plants would be a nice area to sit.
Overall a basic site but has so much potential.
The owners have been on site for 6 years now and were putting in new toilet block etc but as this is in National Park area there seems to be some issues with it, not sure how other sites have dealt with this.
Also it is a working farm so felt as if with a little bit more focus and effort put in on the camping site it would really benefit.

Just returned from relaxing weekend at Sunset View and I was well impressed as were my wife and 2 young children.
This is a cracking site set in a lovely location near Robin Hoods Bay with a fantastic panoramic view of the Whitby Coastline.
The site was quiet the 3 days we stayed there and we had no trouble pitching our tent.
There are horses in a nearby field and some extremely large pigs, ducks, chickens, cats and a lovely dog Blue. The children really loved the animals.
The owner Rob seems to have been working hard to improve the site in recent times and credit to him, he was also very friendly and helpful.
Depends what you want of course but this is a basic site with bags of potential, in a lovely part of the world run by friendly decent folk.
There is loads to do in the area too many to list.
Good base for either Whitby, Robin Hoods Bay or cycling to Ravenscar.
Being able to have a camp fire is something rare nowadays. Nothing better than cooking over an open fire on a barmy night just like being in the Scouts again!
This is a good site I will be back soon.

We are a family from Redcar, myself, my wife Cheryl and the boys Mason (14) and Andre (13)stayed this weekend (3rd & 4th August)on the Manor Farm site near Robin Hoods Bay.
Instead of pitching a tent we hired a trailer tent, which is on site for £50 per night. It sleeps 6 people, if we had used the awning we could have squeezed 8 people in, so you can imagine just the 4 of us it was delightful.
There is a food cabin on site so we didn't have to cook, we had bacon butties on the morning and chicken curry at night when we got back from whitby.
The boys fed the pigs, horses, geese and chickens and they picked their own eggs, we took a dozen back home to redcar with us. They enjoyed a ride on the 2 quad bikes on site too, and rode the pony.
We also had a free trip into whitby and robin hoods bay in a land rover so didn't have to worry about parking which is a nightmare in both towns.
We will be going back as we thoroughly enjoyed it. PS The panoramic views of whitby are to die for.

I recently stopped at the site with my grandson for one night. It was his first experience of camping and he was really excited. The views were fantastic not that he appreciated that.
We had a great time and what was really nice was that we could pitch up were we like and also have a real fire which is rare these days (boys and fires!).
The owner was really helpful and keen to assist werever possible. My grandson particularly enjoyed all the animals that were on the farm especially the baby chicks and was nice especially for him that he could get close to them.
The farm had the facility to buy cooked food from a van which was a nice idea as it saved me the effort and the washing up.
The price was very reasonable at £8 a night and although the facilities were not 5 star but I was not expecting that they were more than adequate and were up to the job.
If you're looking for a proper camping experience then this site is ideal.

Our night spent on this campsite was a pretty bizarre experience really. I wouldn't recommend this campsite to anyone other than perhaps people who are after a basic campsite where they can have a bit of a party and make as much noise as they want.
Owners don't seem to care what you get upto on the site which is great in one way but not so great in another as can't say I felt particularly safe staying on the site and would certainly not have gone away from the site and left the tent as I don't think our stuff would have still been there when we got back!
The facilities were poor, 1 shower, 1 toilet, no pot washing facilities or place to dispose of rubbish. All fine if you're just stopping a night, but no longer! The shower was crap too- a dribble of water that ran either ridiculously hot or freezing cold. Not the most pleasant of experiences! I knew it was basic but for £8 each I'd expect something a bit better!

Sunset view makes a great base camp, situated between Robin Hoods Bay and Whitby. I stayed here with my partner and 18yr old daughter easter weekend Friday till Monday,
We had a great time, It definitely lives up to its name the views are stunning on a clear day you can see right down to Whitby and the abbey.
The owners are very polite and friendly and so is there dog Blue. The facilities are up and coming 2 toilets and shower with electric points which were quite clean,
There's ample of space to camp and you can even pick your own field as well as your own pitch and have camp fires too, which is very rare nowadays,
I have to say we really enjoyed our weekend away at this campsite and have already recommended it to my friends, and we are already planning a return stay soon,

By far the best camp site I have been to. I went with six people. At 8 pound a head it was slightly more than one would expect considering the lack of usual facilities. That being said the fact you can set up camp fires and have enough space for a rugby game with out encountering other tents I felt that the cost was within reason.
The views as well more than made the campsite worth the money. Waking up to a view like that is priceless.
The owners were fantastic, friendly and informative on the area. (they pointed us towards sandsend beach. )
The proximity to Whitby couldn't have been any better either. The only bad thing I can think of is I had to wait to use the toilets.
