aug.2003 What a find, not only a very clean friendly site but also a site with a bathroom, brilliant when you've got a child who hates showers! We also found the site very quiet later on in the evening, again ideal for those with children. We liked the site so much that my husband and son have just gone back for a weekend!

August 2003 Had two lovely days camping at Castlerigg and can only say good things about our stay. On site facilities excellent - shower/toilet blocks clean with plenty hot water - well stocked shop - large field for recreation purposes. The views are stunning.

11 july - 18 july2003 Great campsite overlooking Derwnet water and Bassenthwaite lake, so close to Keswick short walk downhill 1-1/2 miles and only 90 pence for the bus back up the road (last bus 7.15 pm) or taxi for 3 quid. Great facilities spotless toilet/shower blocks we used the main ones up at the shop.20 pence for the hairdryers laundry was a pound a go, great we bar outside the entrance to the site, large open playing field great for playing with the frisbee aor footy or just watching the sun set between Bassenthwaite and Skiddaw. The only downside if you can call it that was the young lads that worked on the onsite shop could do with a little customer service training (very hard to get a response after purchases, but friendly enough not to intrude) the wee guy that done the cleaning and upkeep of the site was very pleasant and always had time for a chat. Met some lovely people from Bolton and Wigan, and the people were very friendly always getting a "good morning" from most only 3 1/2 hours from Fife we will be back.

May 2003 We camped at CastleRigg Hall and had an excellent time. The facilities are great - shower cubicles with benches and wash basins in cubicles. Laudrette facilities with washing machines and tumble driers. The facities are clean and there is even soap provided in the toilets! There is a Campers kitchen where you can use microwaves and hobs (50p) and a place to eat the nosh you've cooked if you don't want to eat in your tent. There is also a Lakers lounge for campers where you can go and sit (indoors) and take your own drinks etc. The lakers lounge also has a drinks machine. There is a games room - snooker/pool, table football and table tennis. There is a field/area left empty for ball games etc. and a small dog exercise field for "well-behaved" dogs.
There is a small shop which provides most things that you need including gas bottles. There is a small cafe which serves cooked breakfasts in the mornings. The views are fantastic from the tent field - lakes and mountains. We watched the sun set from our tent one evening. There is a lovely public footpath down to Keswick (just over a mile or there abouts). There is pub right next door to the campsite, which does evening meals most nights. The management were friendly and not at all intrusive. There are recycling facilities for paper and glass. The tent field has mainly flat pitches though there were some sloped areas. This is definetly one of my favourtie lake district campsites. I would give it 10/10.
