Have been to this site 3 times in the last 2 months. And will be returning next year. I have visited this site in previous years and stayed on main part.
We now stay on the caravan and camping pitches which are ideal if you like it quiet and for fishing. Very helpful and friendly staff. It is the first site when I have paid for wifi it actually works.
Will be spending many a weekend there next year.

We've visited this site a number of times over the past couple of years but I've never left a review. This wasn't the bank holiday weekend but the last weekend in August and surprisingly busy on site. We were given a pitch in the field after the one with the toilet block, at the side of the moored boats.
At first we thought it was a bit too far away but seeing how busy the site became over the weekend it was a great place to be as there was loads of space between units - unlike further up the site. The only negatives about being so far down the site is the distance to the bins - maybe more general waste bins would be useful especially as the site was so busy that the bins were full to overflowing.
The site is really well kept, with the exception of the toilets and showers. Inside the one portacabin there is a disabled cubicle (with 1 toilet and shower in a single environment), inside the ladies there is 1 shower and 2 toilet cubicles, on the corridor there is a shower and although I haven't been in there, in the gents there are just cubicles and a trough but no shower.
That's not many facilities for such a big site with so many tents on. The facilities really let this site down and urgently need investment to put more toilets and showers for the hundreds of people on site using them. Toilets are often dirty and don't appear to get cleaned enough, seeing how much they are used.
Local pub is fine, big portions of food, not the cheapest pub food but ok, and in a lovely location. Free fishing on site is great plus we can launch our canoe free of charge too.
We will be back but would appreciate an upgrade to the toilets as soon as possible.

We stayed for two nights when attending a concert at Doncaster Races.
First the good points. The site is nicely located on the river, and there is a pub over the road with good food. It was fine for what we wanted, just a stop over really. The pub is great.
We won’t return to the site because of the negatives. The showers need a token purchased from reception, a bit annoying to find that out when you get to the block. Toilet and shower facilities are inadequate for the size of the site, and located a long way from some pitches.
The site has lots of seasonal pitches and really caters for them and for fishing enthusiasts, it’s doesn't feel like a touring site.

On arrival the site looked clean, tidy and quiet. It quickly became apparent that the site was geared for seasonal pitches and not tourers. Site rules are for everyone, so many times did I see seasonal pitch owners walk dogs off leads, allow them to toilet in front of a Hobby caravan, throw cigarettes on the floor.
The toilet block was a disgrace and a joke, one communal shower for all the pitches! The local area was nice, dog walking was good, shame local pub does not allow dogs in.

The location is lovely
Too many permanent scruffy pitches. Having to pay £1 for a shower? The fees have constantly increased
One toilet
No motorhome grey water drop
The area and pub are great

Booked this site as I know the area and it looked nice on the advertising leaflet plus the pub opposite does good food. I had booked 7 pitches for a group of friends.
On arrival I had a less than friendly welcome from the chap in the office, given minimal information about the site and was told I would be shown to my pitch by a warden who asked me to follow him in his car. I was the last of my party to arrive and was taken to where they were set up but not actually told what pitch I was supposed to go on. The car drove off so I just took a guess and set up on the nearest available pitch. Only to be told by another warden 1/2 hr later that I would have to move as the pitch was taken!
So after being shown where I should be pitched I set up. The site was very busy due to it being a bank holiday it is a very large and on the face of it looked ideal. However the toilets and showers are totally inadequate. There is one small block in a portable building only 5 loos and 2 showers. I appreciate caravanners generally have their own facilities but for the amount of tents and camper vans there this is a real problem.
On top of that you had to buy tokens at reception for a £1 for pretty basic facilities which weren't cleaned every day. The 5m rule between units is not enforced or observed and we saw vehicles and units crammed together potentially this could pose a fire hazard.
The only positive thing about this site are the lovely walks along the river and canal, the proximity to the nearby village of Misterton which has good facilities and a pub across the road which serves excellent food. The site itself was far too busy, there must have been over a thousand people there.
No noise after 11 was enforced thank goodness. But the toilets and shower situation is diabolical. Not good value for money at £20 per night. Needless to say we Will not be returning.

We visited Haxey Quays over the august bank holiday weekend. We had a party of 6 adults and 3 children in 2 tents and 1 caravan. Initial impressions of the site were great, everywhere is kept clean and tidy and the atmosphere relaxed (except for the 'schoolmaster' in the office who was rather blunt and not especially friendly).
My parents have visited this site a couple of times and enjoyed their stay. There is a nice dog walking area but more bins might be nice - although as it was bank holiday the site was probably busier than usual.
The thing that severely lets this site down is the lack of toilet a shower facilities. 5 toilets and 2 showers in one single block. As stated on this website there are 500 pitches here in total - even if you go on the presumption there's only 2 people in each unit, that's potentially 1000 people for 5 toilets and 2 showers!
Add into it the fact that you have to pay extra for the privilege of having a shower in this little block, you are required to purchase tokens from reception. Which you are lucky to catch open. Then only to be told there are no tokens left because they only have 500???
We were advised by regulars to the site that the owners are intending to build another toilet block further down the site between the rally fields - this is surely an absolutely must as the trek from the rally field to the current block is substantial- especially with children. I would not return to this site unless there is vast improvement to the toilet and shower situation.

Amazing spot next to a canal, pub and golf course! Very clean and well kept site. Spent the stay sitting by the canal watching two swans with their young. Some good pike fishing as well. Very helpful.
To the point they helped fix an electrical issue when we were about to leave. The only disappointment was that we couldn't stay longer. Hopefully back next year for an extended stay.

This site is wonderful for a peaceful relaxing stay on a busy site at weekends, during midweek quite quiet with a lovely public house within walking distance. Alongside pleasant river a well maintained site secure system upon entry/exit a lot of same faces every week proves to be popular. Our only concern was the lack of too few toilet facilities plus although on the paperwork received charge for shower was 50p however tokens purchased for a shower cost £1 each time used, this would be very expensive for a family of four stopping for a week (another £28) which should be made clear when booking.
