I write this having just returned, so its fresh in my mind.
We'd looked at this site beforehand prior to booking, so had an idea of its layout and position.
Having arrived, after a period of wet weather, the 'bus' immediately got stuck on wet ground trying to get positioned on the pitch (late booking - so no hardstanding). Even though we were given a choice of two or three pitch's this looking the 'easiest' to access, we couldn't get to it.
No problem though, the warden dragged us back on the road. Had another attempt from a different approach - still no joy, it was just too wet for a 3 tonner.
Tractor back in action again, and pulled down to a lower pitch - albeit slightly sloping. Dragged onto levelling blocks, and everybodies happy!
At least we knew nothing was too much trouble. Which was a concern reading about the 'rude' bloke further up, who we encountered. But, keep smiling, and he soon mellows. The rest of the staff we encountered were all very pleasant and helpful. There is not far to walk for water (we were about the furthest possible, at 30 yards), and leccy is 16 amps.
There is a few hardstandings if you can get on one, if not, the grassed areas are a bit of a lottery regards level and how wet they may be. Most have EHU though.
The toilet block is well served for loos / showers. The latter being hot and plentiful albeit not exactly 'power showers'. The aforementioned 'cobwebs' were indeed there, and wouldn't take much sorting. I can only assume the cleaners never look 'up'?
There's pot washing (inside) and also a laundry. We used neither, so cant comment, but id hazard a guess and say going on everything else, they'd be ok. The on site shop sells most things, and you can order a paper for the following day.
Facilities for kids aren't great, but if they are easily pleased with a bat and / or ball, or a walk, they'll be fine. Site noise is quiet once about 10pm comes - even when full, including some decent groups of teenagers on some kind of trekking jolly.
The site itself is in the proverbial 'middle of nowhere'.If you've a car you're ok, otherwise you need your walking legs on. There's Arncliffe, about 30 minutes along the road, or 40 along the much nicer river. There's the one pub (and not much else) with limited opening - which we missed, so cant comment.
There's Kettlewell in the other direction, which is about an hour and a halfs walk round the road - or the same (but technically shorter route) 'over the hill' - and much more spectacular. A warning here; this 'over the hill' walk isn't for the casual stroller. There's some serious bits that require a degree of fitness and agility. Likewise the 'follow on' from Kettlewell to Arncliffe. Be warned!
There's 3 or 4 pubs in Kettlewell doing food; we sampled the food and ale at the Blue Bell - which were fine, but not cheap. The place had a roaring fire - so was homely. There's also an 'Arkwrights' style general store - which seems short of nothing! And also a garage - straight out of 'Heartbeat'!
The scenery in every direction is spectacular - and worth the 'dear' tag of the site IMO. (£23 a night on a BH).
All in all, a pleasant stay, but keep away from the low end of the site (near the entrance) as heavy rain puts it under water!
Would I return? Unlikely - but I say this only because there's so many other sites we've yet to visit.

We've stayed here loads in the past 2 years.
It's quite local to us and so far, we can always get in on short notice. So we use it when the weather forecast is good for the up coming weekend.
I don't know why it's not so busy, but glad it's not, otherwise we might be able to get in!
Free showers and the ladies has a small baby bath, which is great for the little ones who aren't too keen on showers.
Nice and friendly managers who are always ready for a chat in the shop!
All pitches are nice and level and none are too far away from the shower block.
Childrens play area, keeps the children busy and it's fully enclosed.
A good base for visiting the local area, with the Tenants Arms pub/restaurant 5 minutes drive away.
Just waiting for the weather to warm up and we'll be going again soon

We arrived around 10pm, and were still let on and allowed to pitch up with our friends who were already there.
The site is divided into areas with a lot of static caravans, but we were on the other side of the site, so it did feel quite small and private in our bit which was by the road, but very quiet.
The shower/toilet block is pretty dirty with loads of cobwebs and in need of a good clean, but the showers were lovely and hot, so that made it not seem so bad. Hairdryer, 20p, right behind the door. Little shower bath for babies in the ladies.
There was no electric hook up in our field, but some plots did have access. The camping field we were in is quite uneven, even our plastic levels couldn't sort us out, but the plots opposite the toilet block looked flat.
The site is in a valley, so lovely views out on to the moors and we had a lovely starry night after a few downpoors earlier in the day.
Playground for the kids was nice touch.
Shop with booze.
Grassington is quite near, with good wild swimming.
There are lot's of comments about the midges in the other review, but we had no problems at all.
We thought at £18 per night (for 2) with no hook up on a slopey field, it was a bit pricey but lovely location.

We booked this site with some friends. We have a campervan and they have a 6 man tent. The man who greeted us was helpful. We were put as close together as possible though in separate fields surrounded by a small wall.
Close to the toilets which was great - reasonable facilities with a brilliant mini bath with shower for kids.
The boys were able to play football in the middle of the camping field without annoying anyone. There are facilities near the play area but we wanted them in sight of us.
The on site shop was good but there is little nearby in terms of shops or pubs.
It was lovely to walk to the nearby river where the kids could play safely in the shallow stream and we also walked up the hill behind the site and found another stream to play in.
Really good that there was no 'throwing out time' and we stayed till after 5pm on the site.
The only thing that spoilt it was that we tried to book again for August and a different man in reception was incredibly rude to us when we explained we needed to be next to each other so we gave up and will have to find somewhere else. Not big on customer service!

Hawkswick Cote is a good site with a pleasant site manager, great views and nicely maintained fields.
There is a great walk to Malham Tarn from the site which takes between 2 -3 hours.Pace pending!
There is a well stocked shop on site with really helpful staff and sells the basics, the most important thing citronella candles. The mosquitos on this site are unreal, I was eaten alive! There are millions of midgeys too, so much so that we ended up eating our evening meal in the tent as the candles weren't doing the trick!
The toilet/shower/potwash facilities OK. There is a night time 'no noise' policy in place which appeared to work well, be prepared however for a very child friendly site!
Price-wise it cost us £22 per night for a tent, 2 adults and 2 children.
Overall I would echo the comments of everybody else Hawkswick Cote is a nice, pleasant site but just a little expensive

Fantastic location for walkers, site facilities basic but clean, camp shop well stocked inc off licence and reasonably priced, but opening hours were a bit hit and miss, there seemed to be no given opening and closing times.
The grassed area of the site is quite sloping in parts although well drained. Good children's playground.
I misread their web page details, it can give the impression the Tennants arms is adjacent the site but it means it's adjacent the Kilnsey Crags, some 2 or 3 miles away, likewise the fly fishing.
Once you leave the main road the mile or so journey to the site is on a very narrow, in places, country lane with few passing places, just hope you don't meet another van coming the other way as you have no chance of reversing. This lane is not suitable to walk on especially if you have children in our opinion.
Wardens very friendly, site fee's expensive for the facilities £18 per night unit inc 2 adults plus £3 each for EHU, awning, dogs and addition adults and children over 4 years old

Hawkswick Cote is set in beautiful surroundings with great views and nice walks. The site is very pretty, the toilet block was clean, the shop had essentials and the playground had adequate apparatus. There's a payphone on site which is needed as there's no signal whatsoever on o2, orange and t-mobile. Don't know about vodafone or other networks as we only had those three so make sure you take some change if you're likely to need to communicate with anyone. It rained on and off for the whole three days we were there but the drainage was good and we never got flooded.
Downsides: Crowded tent area as there's no pitches marked out and we ended up pinned in the middle and it's pricey. We've stayed in many far better sites with plenty facilities for far less. Chances of us returning are slight, mainly due to the overcrowded tent pitch and noisy neighbours but the site itself is nice and I'm sure if you're happy with being cramped in you'll be more than happy with the site.

Arrived Saturday evening around 7 o`clock and was made to feel very welcome by a friendly guy in the reception.
We had only planned to stay one night but did nt leave until Tuesday lunch.
The price- £19 per night for a tent, 2 adults and 1 child, this is reasonable enough as all the facilities were very clean and well kept. Ladies consisted of toilets, showers, basins, infant bath/shower & hair dryer.
Onsite shop was well stocked and open pretty much all day every day.
Short drive to Grassington, even shorter walk to Arncliffe for the local pub.
Really enjoyed our stay and will definitely return!

This site was used as a test weekend when we got 'into' camping in 2008. Lovely location, only an hours drive for us so it was perfect to explore the delights of camping. It rained the whole 72 hours we were there, so the site wasn't that full. Kids still explored on bikes and the hook up meant we were warm inside. For all the rain, the field we were in never flooded and the tent was safe whilst we went off to explore Grassington. Not much in walking distance, but there was a nice pub for those who like a longer walk (probably too far for those with young families) or five to ten mins in car.
One downside was flies / bugs / midges - they were out in their billions. I thought it was down to the damp but we were told by other campers it is a very 'buggy' area. When we put the light on outside, the tent soon became carpeted by zillions of little midges. Full of protein by all accounts, but not to my liking.
Would I go back ? Probably, due to scenery and reasonably short distance from home. But only for a weekend.
I believe there are better priced sites that I may explore first.
Well run site though. We were welcome.

Well I can't deny that this site is situated in wonderful surroundings however I feel you certainly pay for it.
I was quoted on the telephone, £8.00 per person per night and £3.00 each for my dogs (Of which I have two small terriers). I was shocked to hear that the dogs would cost nearly the same as me when they would be sitting on a patch of grass NOT using the amenities.
On arrival I had met up with a small party camping there for two nights. They had paid £16.00 for 2 adults and 1 infant in a 4 berth tent.
I walked to the shop to pay my dues fully expecting the price to be £14.00, £8.00 for me and reluctantly £3.00 each dog. I then had a receipt handed to me for £16.00 I informed the attendant that I had two dogs but I was on my own so why £16.00?? She then advised me it should be £22.00 all in as it is a minimum of £16.00 per tent but she would let me off with the dogs, I SHOULD THINK SO! it was already £2.00 over what I had been quoted on the phone.
Not only do I have and incredibly small tent (self erecting throw out tent)I feel I have been penalised for travelling alone. The shower block was satisfactory but not to the standards of many places camped at before cheaper. The shop was well stocked and had very reasonable opening hours.
I really do think the prices here should be re-evaluated and not penalise people who are trying to enjoy life on there own.
