We stayed for three nights on this campsite and were very impressed. We were put in the family field which was a sloping field behind the reception. If you are put here there are not many level pitches that you can find. We found a large pitch but it was next to the septic tank area. Still this wasn't too much of a problem. There seemed to be plenty of flat camping areas in other fields. The reception serves as a licensed shop that sells more than the basics needed and the site manager can provide enough information about the local area. The facilites were good however the showers although free were not the most powerful and the temperature was difficult to control. There is a play park which was great for entertaining the two children in our party.
The biggest attraction about this site is the location. The views are absolutely stunning. It is only a 10 minute walk to the river where much fun was had by a 4 and 6 year old and an ideal place for a picnic. Arncliffe village is only a mile and a half away with a unique pub.
Overall a great site and one which we would not hesistate going back to.

July 2005 very clean friendly site stayed for two nights but could definitely have stayed longer. The park kept our 9yr old busy making lots of friends, leaving us worry free as it was a safe environment. showers and toilet block very clean. Hopefully will be returning soon.

June 2005 Shower/toilet block was clean & warm and seemed large enough to cater for all and were free to use (Mens block contained: 3 shower cubicles 5 toilets 3 sinks and plenty of peeing pots). Shop seemed to stock most items (inc beer & wine), The site was well away from any main roads and nestled in an attractive valley, a short walk down a path led to the river which wasn't deep enough to swim in, but great for the kids to run around in!
The views from the site were incredible & the site itself was kept clean and tidy so no problems there, my only gripe was the pitches seemed very small and cramped, We were asked to pitch in rows on a square of grass, we were in the middle of the square surrounded on all sites by tents, even though there was a large field behind the shop with only a couple of tents on it. Childrens play area covered with bark and seemed to be kept clean. Loads of rabbits at night.
Fees seemed cheap enough 4 adults & 2 children in 3 tents came to £75 for 2 nights (Fri & Sat). BBQ's allowed (off the grass) Very family orientated and wasn't rowdy or noisy at night even though people were still 'drinking' into the small hours. I'd say the owners seemed friendly enough but we didn't really have any need to speak to them other than to book in and out!
All In all A nice family site that we had a great time in (though it was a car ride to any pubs)

June 2005 Just got back from spending a weekend at Hawkswick Cote. Although only our 2nd camping trip (so not experienced at this) we thought this site was really good. The place was very clean and tidy.
We only met the lady in the shop and she was very nice and welcoming. Found it good that the shop on site was an off licence!! Lovely quiet place (think some sheep dont sleep tho!) Will definitely return here

May 2004 Stayed here May bank hols. Beautiful location and surroundings. Toilets and showers are clean and tidy, but not enough showers to cope with the very busy Bank holiday. Small well stocked shop and a well eqiupped childrens playground. Would go back again but not on a Bank holiday.

June 2004 Absolutely beautiful location. I have experience of staying there in a touring caravan and a static several times over the past three years. The site has the most fantastic views and is very well maintained. The showers, toilets etc are okay. There is a nice childrens playground. It is a site that you fall in love with and just want to keep going back to. In the areas for long stay tourers and statics, it always feels peaceful and not overcrowded even at busy times. The areas for camping and short stay caravans do get quite crowded at the summer weekends and Bank holidays but always seems to have a good atmosphere. Be warned there is no mobile phone reception (part of the attraction I think!) but there is a payphone.

August 2003 Idyllic beautiful isolated location. And that's the conundrum - the isolation makes the place but also means that if the weather is bad, all but hardened walkers would be struggling for anything to do ! Skipton is a treck in the car but a great marekt town to visit).
We went with our 3 young children - clean facilities, secure, safe, nice play area. Plenty of tent pitches with electric hook up.
Weather was fine for us so loved it & would recommend highly (for shortish stays because of the above).
There were a few flies about but nothing a can of spray didn't sort. Not sufficient to put us off like "fly reports" can.
Some splendid pubs/pub meals in the area but not cheap ones.

Aug 2003 Campsite sits nicely in a steep sided valley. Excellent play area for the kids. Toilet block clean. A few midges on the evening but nothing to really worry about. Very handy location for exploring this area of the Dales. Will certainly use again.

We went in August 2001 Bank Holiday weekend and it was glorious and the site was chocablock. The camp site is first class, with a play area for kids and a little shop on site which caters for everything, which is a good job because theres nothing around for miles.
If you get on the proper campsite that is good, if you get on the overspill as we were, ie an adjoining field, then you may find you are on a slope, but it all added to the fun and anyway the weather was glorious so what the heck! Recommended !!!!
