It sounds as if this site may have changed a bit. There are now a lot of static caravans set back in a field behind the toilet block. Although these are fairly well blended into the surroundings. The camping / caravan area is in front of the toilet block and is level. I found the facilities to be clean and the showers plenty warm enough, once the water had been allowed to run a little. It was a very peaceful and pleasant site with lovely views of the hillsides.
The shop is well stocked and the owners seemed happy to open this up to sell items at any time of day. It is about a 30 minute walk to the nearest pub at Arncliffe, although slightly longer if taking the path beside the river. The pub only appears to serve food to residents. However, the Queen's Arms at Litton, a further few miles up the valley does serve excellent food.
There are many superb walks one can do in this vicinity; either along the length of Littondale or across the top into Wharfedale. The only downside of the site is that it was expensive for me. I was charged £16 per night. If this price covers two sharing a tent it wouldn't be too bad, but I was on my own so felt a little ripped off.

Stayed Bank Holiday weekend. Well kept site & well stocked shop that sold a variety of things, including a limited ranged of beer, cider & wine, some of which is chilled. Open from 9 ish to ? as no hours displayed? Tent field, without electric hook up, is big but on slope. Great views of the surrounding valley. Toilets & showers clean but only three showers so busy. They could also use an update & more of them. Washing up area only had three sinks. Busy bank holiday so the field got full and not set out very well as a few struggled to get cars in & out and needed others to move, so the staff could have set it out better. One other thing was the smell of drains now and again from who knows where? Kids loved the play park and it was safe for all ages. Loads to do round & about, local Pub in Arncliffe a bit far to walk with kids & a single track road, but kettlewell not far by car and has three pubs, food served at lunchtime & then from six. Would go again and take midge spray because you'll need it.

The campsite had a large number of flat pitches in lovely surroundings. The facilities were good but the toilets could be cleaned more often. Unfortunately our stay was marred by extreme drunken and loud behaviour on both nights despite reporting it after the first night. Whilst this was only by one group we would have hoped they would have been monitored on the second night. We understand this is not common for this site.

Stayed on a Saturday night and found the site very expensive, £16 per unit regardless of size, when you consider that there was a motorbike with one person and one bike tent paid the same as us who had 2 adults and a small tent with a car. The showers were very poor with no power to them and not very clean. The wash block on the whole was not kept clean and during my stay I didn't see a cleaner in there. The nearest pub for food was about 4 miles away down very narrow roads and not walkable at all. The owner's weren't particularly helpful and didn't seem to have any control of the campsite or where people were pitching. There was lots of groups of adults with many children running around everywhere and were under no control at all, peace and quiet is certainly not a thing this campsite can boast of having. Not recomended, if you are passing through this area and just want a campsite to pitch the tent, pop to the pub for a meal before coming back and chilling out in the fantastic surroundings.

We spent a rainy weekend at this lovely campsite and thoroughly enjoyed it. We're planning to return to the same campsite again (which is unusual for us). The surrounding countryside is lovely. The local pub is 1.25 miles away in Arncliffe, but was well worth the brisk march in the rain.
The site wasn't too crowded (though we were told it gets packed on bank holidays/sunny weekends). The shower facilities were very good - plenty of (free) hot water and we never had to queue. The owners were really friendly and happy to answer our many questions about the area.
The only down sides are that the site doesn't have an ice-pack facility, despite advertising it in the AA guide. Also, it is a little pricey and we were surprised to be charged 2.50 per night for keeping a dog.
Overall a great site - thoroughly recommended as a great base for walking

Following recent duke of edinburgh silver expeditions, eight team members agreed that out of the four campsites we stayed during the silver award, this campsite excelled by far. Very clean and warm facilities, and all set in breathetakingly beautiful scenery. Although we ourselves, and other groups stayed up late into the night, the campsite remained peacefull and relaxed - a perfect place to watch the rabbits run amongst the tents also! Only criticism is the number of rocks underneath the grass which proved a small problem when camping up, but was overcome after a little while of poking around to find the ideal campspot. Am soon returning to this campsite for a leisure trip, highly reccomend it!

Visited twice in last two weeks. First time, great. Nice pitch, site quiet. Second time, got there late Friday and chose pitch in first field as you enter site. Didn't realise, but we were right near the sewers and had to put up with an awful smell for the whole of the weekend. Also, quite noisy with lot of older kids running around. Good site for visiting Dales, Nice outlook, but choose pitch carefully!

Very good site, beautiful location and surroundings. All the kids had fun and there were no riff raff types. Good space between pitches and hook ups worked well. The toilet blocks could do with a little upgrading and perhaps more cleaning in busy periods however this is being picky. Great site, will go again!

We have been to this camp site quite a few times and found it very clean and the shop is amazing. We have been to a few camp sites but this is by far our favourite. We are heading there on 3rd July for few nights. It is a lovely peaceful camp site and the views are amazing!

Hawkswick is a very pleasant camp site in an idyllic location. The shop was well stocked and news papers can be ordered. The toilet block was clean with plenty of sinks and showers which are free. The baby bath in the ladies toilets is excellent. The indoor washing up area has 3 sinks and plenty of free hot water. The electric hook-up pitches are all on the level with lots water points doted around. A stone wall encloses the sloping tent field. The kid’s play area and field to play ball games went down a teat with my two boys. This was a lovely clean site and I will visit again.
