We have just come back from a 3 day stay at Rew. We turned up without booking and the owner found us a great pitch, her hubby even moved stored caravans for us and a Danish family so we could get a good pitch!
Lovely well kept grass with beautiful views from the site. Great shower and toilet facilities. Although the showers were 20p they were worth it, hot water and spacious shower rooms.
The kids that were there, from what we heard and saw, really enjoyed the barn with swings etc in it.
Great walks all around the site whatever way you went and despite it being the school holidays it wasn't too loud or noisy at all.
The little shop was great and there's a chippy van that comes on a Wednesday and hog roast on a Thursday.
All in all an enjoyable stay. We will go back!

Just got back and had a good time. Site was quite remote and we were in an overfill field by the tennis court but we were glad as site was a little too busy for us and tents caravans seemed quite close to each other, disadvantage to field extremely windy and some mornings had mist and fog on field. Facilities were adequate waited only short time for shower on one day, 20p for 4 minutes, warm but a bit of a trickle of water for me. All areas kept clean. Iron, ironing board, hair dryer all provided free. Washing machine, dryer only used dryer once 50p lasted quite a while. Shop stocked a little of everything, only open certain times. Fish and chip van came onto site once a week gave up after waiting a good half an hour to be served some had waited 1. 5hrs to get served.
Found we had to drive everywhere as nothing really close by but if you are a walker you will love this as there are walks and a beach for those that don't need to take lots to the beach! Lovely area must go to North Beach where there is a lovely safe cove for swimming. Beautiful area and a very good place to eat Winking Prawn. You can park here per hour or 6. 50 per day, and walk to Salcombe which takes approx 15 mins a pleasant walk, we did this various times as Salcombe is a lovely buzzing town but hard to park at times. Salcombe has nice shops and restaurants not commercialised at all. All roads around these areas are extremely narrow. Went from Salcombe to South beach on ferry you can also walk from south beach to north beach easily takes approx 10 mins.

This is a very pleasant campsite at the top of a hill. It is laid out in several rows of levelled sites and is long and thin so if you are at the far end there is a fair walk to the toilet block. It has very nice views and there are plenty of fields around for dog walking and access to several paths from the site. Short drives, on narrow windy lanes take you to several good beaches and walking areas. The site has a shop which sells most things and in Marlborough, there is a very good Co-op supermarket at the garage. This sells everything you could need.
Salcombe is a few miles away and is worth a visit, there are lots of good pubs, restaurants and a ferry service across the harbour. In the opposite direction you can reach the sea at Hope or Bigbury, all within a half hour's drive, but the roads are very narrow and windy so take care.
The showers took a little getting used to. You stick in 20p and then go into the cubicle, there is a delay to give you a chance to get undressed. One of the showers then took so long to warm up that more than half the 4 minutes was up before the water was warm, but the other showers were warm straight away. I am not sure if this was just the shower itself or how recently it had been used. The toilet block was clean and had lots of cubicles, hand basins etc. And was well stocked with all the necessities. There was a good washing up area and washing machines if needed.
Being at the top of a hill had strange consequences. One day it was so misty at the camp site you could barely see 20 yards. I drove down the hill to Outer Hope and spent the day walking in bright sunshine, but when I looked up at the hill top it was permanently shrouded in mist. So if it is foggy up there try driving a few miles away.

We stayed here for the Easter weekend to walk the coast path. The owners are helpful and all the facilities were very clean.
Nice large grassy pitches, with good views. There is a footpath from the site to various points of access to the coast path.
The site is situated in a lovely rural location down a narrow lane. There is a small shop and an undercover play area for children.
There is a charge for showers (20p) but there was a free hairdryer. This is a nice well kept site and we would definitely return.

Recently stayed 3 nights at this pretty little site tucked away in the Devon countryside. The location is a little rural but perfect for walkers and the beach, and water.
The nearest pubs are in Marlborough, walkable in about 35mins but down narrow lanes, so be wary. There are some nice places to eat there though. We would also recommend the winking prawn for a lovely breakfast overlooking North Sands, about 10mins drive away, again down narrow lanes.
The site itself has nice flattened pitches, though it may feel a little cramped if you have a large tent or caravan. Towards the end of our stay and the beginning of the school holidays it was quite full and a little on the noisy side with an abundance of noisy children racing around. There is a covered play area for younger children and the facilities to play pool, table tennis and skittles, as well as plenty of green area for them to play in.
The toilet and shower facilities are separate, a little bizarre as the showers are within the wash - up and laundry area. The toilet block is a bit tired and not adequate really for a full site. The showers are nice and hot and 20p for 4 mins, again I think the number of showers would struggle at peak times.
There is a small shop on site stocking limited essentials at quite restricted times, which seemed to change every day!
The site provided us with a good base from which we could explore salcombe, and Kingsbridge, both of which are lovely.

My wife and I just got back from a lovley 6 days at Higher rew, and we loved every minute of it.
From the minute we saw the view we knew it was going to be a lovely week.
The site is set on a hill but the pitchers are leveled so are nice and flat, plenty of space to have your car near by.
There is a coastal footpath near by which is a beautiful walk round to Bolt head then through South sands, then back to the camp. The route is well sign posted so you cant get lost and well worth doing.
We found Co op shop round the corner stocked most items for a week stay, and we went there most days to stock up.

This was our second time here & we had another lovely holiday thank you! The site is well organised but laid back, with spacious pitches, very clean facilities, and in a truly beautiful spot - what more can I say except we'll be back again next year!
The site was full as it was half term, but noise levels were fine and it was quiet by 10ish, the facilities coped admirably (although you did have to queue for the washing up sinks if you were there at 'peak' times but this is easily avoided - just go and have a cuppa & come back later!)

We had a great stay at this site in early June during the Half Term School Holidays. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay due to the fantastic weather and location of this site.
We found the facilities adequate even though the site was full. The toilets could do with being upgraded a little but they really aren't bad at all. We did have to queue for the showers most mornings, so get up early if you are heading out exploring in the morning.
The pitches are level and just about big enough if you have a large tent with a kitchen annex, although to be honest it would be good to have maybe an extra few feet between each pitch.
On several occasions we walked down to South Sands and got the ferry into Salcombe. The walk to South Sands takes around 20 minutes and is up and down hills. Be warned if you have had a couple of pints at lunchtime you might find the walk back up the hill a little strenuous.
The surrounding areas are beautiful, with places like Hope Cove, Beesands, Slapton, a short drive away and worth a visit.
We did find that a couple of the nights were a little ruined with a group of people singing quite loudly well into the early hours, but that can happen at any site.
The owners are very helpful and friendly. We would definitely go back to this site again, but maybe not in the school holidays as the facilities were at capacity.

We chose a great few days of weather and had a fantastic time. Lovely site - perfect location for walking - we covered many miles. Site was so quiet during the week and an absolute haven. The weekend was busier and some noisy adult drinkers did spoil the peace until the early hours of the Sunday morning - which was a shame as up until then it had been lovely and peaceful!
Loos were very clean all the time and the little shop had all the basics.
We will definitely go back.

Location:
Good location, very remote. Fantastic views from all pitches over the valley. If you like walking, there are loads of footpaths from the site and also only a short walk to the Coastal footpath for some of the most amazing views my wife and I have ever seen. We would put it up there with from views we saw in Canada! All pitches are level and the site is on a slope meaning the ground is fantastic even when it rains.
On Site Facilities:
Shop on site, sells the basics and is not great but does the job for bread & milk.
20 pence for 4 minutes in the shower. Showers were quite clean despite the site being busy. Toilet block clean. Ample showers and toilets. Table tennis, skittles, pool table inside a barn on site - Great for adults and children alike.
Nearby Facilities:
5 minute drive is a Texaco Garage with a co-op shop for your food, paper, alcohol etc!
Two pubs and a restaurant a five minute drive from site, cannot walk there as too dangerous on the narrow country roads from the site.
Large Morrisons a 15 minute drive if you need it as well.
Overall:
Staff/owners at the site very helpful and the site is great value for money. If you are thinking of visiting the south coast of Devon you should consider staying here.
