Amazing.
Just returned from a 4 night break at the campsite and it was fantastic. We were met with a smile and booked in no problem, we were given a map of walks from the site which we did and they were brilliant.
There were chickens roaming around the farmyard and sun was shining, we stayed in the field overlooking the channel and the views were superb. Toilets lovely and clean, well stocked shop for food and camping equipment.
Loads of space to camp and make fires which ended our days on a high with s'mores a plenty. Despite the size of the site and it being half term it was not cramped and was quiet I. The evenings. We went horse riding which was a lot of fun.
The washing up facilities were great and had a communal fridge and freezer to freeze blocks etc. Most welcomed.
Brilliant site, excellent views, lovely area and can't wait to return. And there is a newly planted orchard with the owners advising they are hoping to make their own cider from. Cheers to that.
Thank you caffyns for some lovely memories.

Beautiful landscapes. Well laid out campsite, very thoughtfully shaped into separate little areas named after wildlife. This means that the site will never feel over-crowded as each section will hold a maximum number of units.
There are no EHU. Though this place is very special in terms of its natural feel in harmony with its farming landscapes. Sea views slightly obscured by embankments and trees. Lovely (though steep) walks through woods to Lee Abbey and Lee Bay and across back lane to Lynton.
Cost of camping here is not cheap, though facilities of showers, washrooms, loos, and washing up are very good with excellent camping and farm shop all great. Milk pricey at 89p/ pint.
Our children 8-12 all loved it and wish to return again with friends.
All very high quality from people who know what they are doing.

Fantastic campsite in a most beautiful setting. It has a rustic feel but with everything thing you need for modern camping, great little shop and café hot showers. Lovely walks right from the site. This was my second visit to the site and loved it just as much this time as before, my kids love being able to have a fire at night time a real bonus. Already planning to come back again before the summer is over

What a fabulous location! Just outside Lynton/Lynmouth and a short distance from the A39, this campsite was really easy to find. We had a very friendly welcome at the shop (sells the usual food and camping accessories albeit with a bit of a markup compared to supermarkets/camping shops).
The site is laid out into a number of smaller fields close to the toilets/showers that are divided by hedges and low earth banks and there is a much larger field towards the back of the site that is more exposed but has sea views. Having two young children, we opted for more shelter and we were glad of this with the remains of the Bertha storm hitting us on our first night. There are no marked pitches so groups can easily camp together. An unexpected bonus was wooden picnic tables dotted around the site. There are only a few though and bigger groups are quick to move them closer to their pitches. Campfires are also allowed with stones being provided to put around your fire. A bag of logs will cost you £4. 99 from the shop although there is a garden centre just down the road towards Lynton that sells bigger and better value bags.
Facilities are new and very clean. The showers and toilets are housed in an old barn. Showers are unisex although toilets are separate male and female facilities. There is a separate family shower for people with younger children. The block also houses washers (£4) and dryers (£1) as well as washing up facilities, a fridge and an enormous freezer.
Cost for us was £20. 40 a night (2 adults, one child and one under 5 that was free) per night, which seemed very reasonable.
Note that there is no electrical hookup (and caravans were not allowed this season) so this is definitely camping more suited to those who can make do without gadgets and heaters. Mobile reception was pretty poor but as far as I'm concerned, that's a good thing! ;)
Only slight negative was that there are not enough wheely bins in the bin area so bags were piled high and we struggled to get our rubbish bags in. Only bottles were able to be recycled so this compounded the problem.
We liked the site and the area so much that we're seriously considering coming back again for our summer holiday next year.

Camping at Caffyns Farm has been an absolute joy. We have camped elsewhere and nowhere comes close to providing campers with an atmosphere quite like Caffyns Farm does. The site itself is set up on the cliff tops and has large fields where you can choose where to pitch. No laid out pitches - you can have as much or as little room as you like. Most of the sites have sea views. The shower and toilet facilities are clean, modern and well maintained and there is always plenty of hot water, no matter what time of day it is. The fact that this modern shower and toilet block is housed in an old barn shows how the owners are sympathetic to the beauty that is Exmoor. This also applies to the covered washing up area where there are plenty of sinks and drainers. Also in this area are freezers for your cool bag/box blocks. The reception come shop area is also housed in an old farm building further demonstrating the owners love and care for the area. This is a well equipped small shop which is reasonably priced and stocks all sorts of items a camper needs! They also sell gas and sacks of logs for the campfires which are allowed on site. In all Caffyns Farm is an excellent camp site for those looking to get away from the swimming pools, club houses and bars that other sites offer. Its a must to visit and a guarantee return!

My 6yr old son and I have just returned from a fantastic 7 night stay at Caffyns Farm and we could happily have stayed for double that.
The location is gorgeous although it must be noted that this is a very rural area. The nearest large supermarkets are in either Barnstaple or Minehead - 30mins or so drive away. The farm shop covers the basics and also has a selection of basic camping equipment and there is a small supermarket in nearby Lynton but the prices aren't particularly cheap.
The site itself is well set out and very clean. The main field is separated into sections by grassy banks. We were quite sheltered by trees on 2 sides but this is a coastal site and the wind will blow from the Bristol Channel although we didn't find this an issue.
It is also worth noting that the second field can only be used for 28 days per year due to planning laws. On the last 2 days of our stay it was shut and the site was full with no pitching space left. As there are no marked pitches thus no pre-booking this may lead to some disappointment.
The facilities consist of a washing up room including chest freezer (plenty of space) and fridge (constantly full), a couple of washing machines and dryer, male and female toilets and plenty of showers. All were clean despite the site being busy and we didn't need to queue.
The site is quite safe for children and it was nice to let my son wander around without having to worry. There were also lots of families on the site so the kids were never short of someone to play with.
Campfires are encouraged with boxes of stones available and firewood for sale in the shop. A couple of local places sell wood at far better value though.
Pony trekking/horse riding is available on site. All gear is provided and we had a great time.
I would certainly recommend this site for family camping, the views are great and the relaxed atmosphere was fantastic.

We've done Eweleaze twice now and wanted to try elsewhere. CAFFYNS farm didn't disappoint! For those of you who moan about the wind coming off the sea, camp inland! The views of Swansea and port Talbot were great on a clear night. We even saw a fireworks display in Wales!
A really nice family friendly site. They accommodated a group of 18 friends and family so we could all pitch together.
Shop is ideal. They sell all your daily basics.
The toilet and shower block has recently been done up. About 10 showers and a family shower all with toasty hot water. 5 female wc's. 3 male wc's and two urinals. Only had to queue once.
Washing up facilities with hot water. About 6 sinks.
Large chest freezer for food and ice packs. And a fridge too (although good luck finding room in there!) I fear we had a greedy bunch hogging it.
Camping is set in two big fields divided up by hedgerows and walls to create smaller areas. Water in all fields.
Very child friendly.
On a clear night you cannot beat the amazing star gazing. Simply stunning.
Sadly we didn't get a chance to say farewell as the heavens opened as we packed up!
All in all a secret gem.

I was very disappointed when I arrived to find only one field open to campers. It was described on the website as ‘With 160 acres (over half of it flat and with a perfect mix of secluded and open fields)’. We wanted to find a very secluded spot away from other campers. Considering the time of year and the size of the place we though it would be easy, unfortunately it was not possible.
On Speaking to the owners about it, they told me that not all the fields are open all year as the have to farm the land. I totally understand this but it should be mentioned on the website. We did not stay; we found another site that met out needs.
When looking round what was available, it obviously did have a relaxed atmosphere with lots of people chilling in their camps, plenty of stones to make fire pits and the shower block was very good.

This lovely site deserves to be better known. At the end of June, in beautiful weather and over a weekend, there was masses of space even with the top two fields closed. The owners really seem to know what they are doing and have developed great facilities with plenty of toilets, washbasins with soap and hand-driers, wonderfully hot and powerful(free)showers and laundry, all tucked away in a barn. If there were hooks by the wash basins it would be perfect. The shop stocks quite a good range of food, local produce and camping accessories. Picnic tables are dotted around for anyone to use and open fires allowed. Best of all there are no lists of rules telling you how to behave, the place seems to run on understanding and trust. The owners have made footpaths through their land that link up with public rights of way and you can walk down to the coast, to the Valley of Rocks and into Lynton and Lynmouth on good paths. We walked our dog in the closed top fields but dog owners need to be aware that the free range chickens will chance their luck and come up to your pitch in their search for food! The eggs are to die for.

This site is the place to come with small children. A wonderfully relaxed atmosphere but with ever improving facilities. However the site provides a welcome antidote to video style entertainment - thank goodness! The pitch where you like idea is refreshing and the provision of stones to retain an open fire (wood can be bought at the well stocked shop/reception) is also a good idea. The views from the site show the areas spectacular coastline in all its glory. The steep path to the beautiful Lee Bay is quite challenging (perhaps just for us oldies!) but the tea garden was a welcome sight. The coastal path was really the only walking available from the site but with a car( not a large motorhome!) other local routes over Exmoor and the coast become a real possibility. The toilet and shower area was not fully functional during our stay but when finished will be of superlative quality - better than mine at home! The freedom of young children to play outdoors without the need for modern 'stimulation' was delightful to see and is to be commended.
