I have just returned from a fabulous week at this site. The weather was glorious and the walks from the campsite really beautiful.
It was bank holiday weekend so we expected it to be busy and it certainly was!
The owner and his wife were really friendly and helpful and didn't ever give the impression of being under pressure, even when at the peak of the weekend the water tanks proved insufficient for the demand and the showers- which are the best I have experienced anywhere- were restricted We were kept fully informed and offered refunds if we felt the need to leave early because of this. We were als assured that measures were underway to ensure this didn't happen again in the future.
The horse riding proved really popular with our family and enabled us wonderful views of the surrounding countryside.
There was a really happy atmosphere at Caffyns Farm. We all enjoyed the freedom to pitch where we liked and to make wood fires which really added to the ambience.

Have enjoyed a lovely few says at Caffyns. It's a well thought out site with lots of potential and with each passing season, the friendly and helpful owners will add improvements to an already beautiful location. I liked the idea that it was rule free and had a very natural back to basics atmosphere. The shop was stocked with handy items and although we didn't use them this time, cycle hire and riding facilities were easily accessible. Looking on the website, I was attracted to this site with the prospect of a brand new toilet block, however, although this is not falsely advertised, the new facilities are a long way off being completed but I would imagine with the quieter weeks ahead, this should soon be well on the way. I will enjoy a return visit and pray that the owners decide to put roofing over the cubicles so as the overhead wildlife do not ruin what promises to be a top rate facility. My only niggle with the site as it is, is that there is not a designated dog exercise area or dog bins and with youngsters running freely there were numerous piles of mess to negotiate. The area with it's sea views is just stunning, fantastic sunsets and enjoyable walks straight off the site. Well worth a visit!

I visited this campsite on the strength of the reviews posted at the end of April, which is when I made my initial contact with the owners. I am somewhat perplexed by the latest posting describing a campsite which I don't believe I actually visited, as my experience was totally opposed to their experience. I found the shower and toilet facilities a little cramped but they are obviously only a temporary measure, and the new shower block (which I believe will be finished in the next month) promises to offer more than adequate facilities for visitors. There is a small shop which I found extremely well stocked, and horse riding and bicycle hire add to the attractiveness of this site. There is a very laid back approach from the owner and his family, who just want his visitors to have an enjoyable relaxing holiday. I am planning another visit in August.

Very spacious campsite with good, level pitches and good, clean amenities. Lovely walks immediately from the campsite and coastal path accessible from campsite. The small shop on site is a bonus and the use of a fridge freezer very handy. Would certainly recommend staying here if peace and quiet is what you are looking for.

Just come back from a glorious weekend here. Weather brilliant and so were the fantastic views and the campsite in general! Very relaxed and good value. Loads of space and good flat fields. The facilities were OK and they are just about to open a new showers and toilets block. The atmosphere is great - we had campfires both nights and the shop is handy for barbecue stuff. Good having water pipes in the fields. Owners were very friendly and helpful. Walked loads, went to Lee Bay beach nearby - lovely spot and not too crowded. Lynton's real close and good for pubs and shops.

We were very disappointed. Yes the view is very nice from your pitch but not so in the shower. No hot water to do your dishes(we took it from the shower. ) And we could live with basic camping if the price wasn`t so HIGH! Its way overpriced for what you get. We felt like the farmer just wants easy money, get rid of the cows and put some campers there, easy enough.
There weren`t enough showers and toilets. There was a big queue in the morning

We came back here after a one night stay in August 2011. Have been here one week already and just extended the stay for another.
This place is amazing. Very peaceful. No noise pollution, no light pollution, fantastic panoramic views, LOADS of space. And you can have a camp fire (they sell wood in their shop).
The shower and toilet facilities (even though temporary) a very functional. There is a shop on site that has everything you could need. They also provide access to a fridge and freezer.
They have bicycles for hire and have horse treks.
The people that run the place are lovely.
This has to be one of my favourite campsites.
As far as the local area, it's amazing. Plenty to see and do. A lot of stunning scenery.

This is my second review for this site I did one last year too.
This is a very relaxed site, and the prices are low. Also the owners are extremely helpful and friendly, And some of the views are lovely. There are some great walks via the extensive woods that lead down a steep hillside to the sea (about 1. 5 miles there)
The site has been tidied up allot since the new owners moved in. There are now some segregated areas with grass banks creating small 'fields' that would fit about 4 tents each, there are also two very large fields.
There are water taps in about half the fields now, and fire fighting equipment. There is now a good shop with all the usual stuff. But as yet the owners have not put in a new shower block, that is to come later, so at them moment there are three portable showers/toilets. Which are quite ok and free. But may not be adequate when the site is busy. Also there is only one washing up sink.
Unfortunately the weather was not kind to us this time, and the site can get quite windy as it is high up, but there are plenty of hedges to shelter behind.
For kids the site has lots of space, but no play area (yet) for older ones there are the woods to explore. There is also no baby changing yet.
So the site still needs some improvements, but the owners are such nice people and the location is so lovely that you tend to overlook the current shortcomings.
Will be going back soon.

Just got back from another fab weekend camping here.
There were two of us and our dog staying in a tent.
We came here last year at the end of June when they had just set up and they've done some work over the year installing water pipes, tidying up the fields and expanding the little shop.
They are Working on a new shower and toilet block at the moment but the temporary ones are always clean and adequate for their purpose.
The site allows campfires which is what attracts us to go and has a lovely quiet and relaxed feel. Perfect after a busy week at work!
The owners are always approachable and friendly.
The location is great, just outside the pretty towns of Lynton and lynmouth but still close enough to the moors of exmoor (our main attraction to the area). There are a number of great pubs in the area and good walks from the site too. They offer riding from the farm which I will try on our next visit.
All in all a great site if you want relaxed camping! Can't wait til our next visit in July.

We stayed at the start of (a very wet) August.
This is quite a spacious site with a relaxed feel. There are also rocks and areas to create camp fires.
As the other reviewer mentioned the owners are quickly restoring the site to its full potential. Even though temporary, the showers and toilets were very good.
They also have on-site stables and we tried an hours horse riding down into the valley. This was excellent and well recommended.
If wet take wellies. Obvious really but the one thing I forgot to pack for an August holiday!
