Just returned from another fantastic visit. Cannot fault the toilets pitches wardens all 1st class. Looking forward to our next trip. There are a lot of seasonal campers on but they are very friendly. Kids aged 14 and 13 love this site. Close to shopping outlets and york centre. Chip wagon visits on a sat night at reasonable prices also pizza shop do deliveries to the site.

We have just returned from a weekend at York Meadows.
Good site excellent facilities.
Shop adequate. Lady in shop very helpful even copying pages of map for us as we had forgotten ours.
Ideal site for touring York and surrounding areas. Brilliant bus service from the next village buses into centre of York every ten minutes

Booked 4 nights on a grass pitch here, we went for a grass pitch as we wanted to try out a new lightweight awning without sacrificing too many tent pegs. It's just along the road from a C&CC site which we've also stayed at in the past.
We knew that we would arrive after the office closed (5pm) but it didn't phase the lady that took our booking. A map was left stuck to the inside of the office door showing the layout of the site.
Most of the pitches are double width hard standing and, unusually, set at an angle to the track around the site. The only reason that I can think of for the owners of the site to use this layout is that it makes reversing on to a pitch much easier.
There are plenty of service points for fresh and grey water around but just one CDP near the entrance. I was a little disappointed by this lack of CDP provision as there are two large statics at the far end of the site that have 'mains' sewerage and thought that a CDP wouldn't be too difficult to add on.
A small play park between the caravan and tent fields provides a welcome distraction for younger campers although the usual problem of children leaving their bikes on the road nearby can make entry and egress when towing a slow affair.
There is a small shop on site selling essentials and goodies for smaller visitors. The nearest convenience shops are a little too far away for a comfortable walk.
Local RAF stations are used for training pilots and an occasional bonus can be had when the young airmen and women are practising aerobatics and 'dogfighting'.
York, and it's myriad of attractions, is only only 20-30 minutes drive away. The position of the site lends itself very well to using the Park & Ride service based on the north side of the city. Parking in the city centre is very limited and tightly controlled. During the summer season, there is a maize maze near Easingwold (about 20 minutes drive) which provides plenty of activities and a good, fun day out.
All-in-all a good site needing only a couple of tweaks to make it pretty much perfect.

Used this site for a family get together. Excellent pitch sizes on even ground, well maintained by warden and staff. Good facilities for children with playground and football nets.
Showers and toilets were always clean with plenty of hot water. Potwash and laundry facilities included in the amenity building were kept in the same condition.
Small shop on site with last minute essentials. Wi-Fi available at a charge through PayPal which was easy to purchase and set up (even for me). Good location for York about 15 minute drive. Plenty of pubs in the area and also pizza delivery to site if cooking isn't your thing!.
Partner site at Helmsley is said to be of equal standard so check that one out too.
Would return in the future.

Just returned from a 5 day break at York Meadows, what a site, large pitches, very clean toilets and showers with plenty of hot water, wardens very helpful and great location.
Been to York Meadows 3 times this year and left unit a couple of times during the week for family to use following weekend.

Hi just stayed 1 night here at the weekend. What a little gem of a find. The site is well maintained, lovely warden and check in was just fab. A well stocked shop on site a chip wagon on sat nights. Just amazing we have left the caravan on site as we will be returning at the weekend.
Our kids loved the site. Yes they have a lot of seasonal pitches but it is a very friendly site. Looking forward to the weekend

Visited for Easter. We arrived on Good Friday and the site was quite busy but not full.
Site easy to find but we did get stuck in A64 holiday traffic at York which delayed us by about an hour.
Check in friendly and efficient, we had requested adjacent plots as visiting with friends and they were happy to accommodate this. We didn't see the wardens again as no difficulties.
Plots are spacious and there is a choice of hard core or grass each with its own electric point. There is a separate grass field for camping. Although it was quite busy for Easter I didn't feel we were on top of each other at all.
The facilities block is quite new and the toilet and shower cubicles were spacious and clean. The showers are free and push button type. There was always hot water but I think I was first in one morning and had to push a few times to kick start the system.
The block was not closed for cleaning to my knowledge and I only saw anyone cleaning once, and she was wiping a kids 'step up' over.
There is a family / disabled room with shower toilet and bath. You have to put £1 in for hot water for the bath which caught me out on my fist trip there with my son.
The hot water flows as long you have the tap on, once you turn it off you would have to put another pound in.
The facilities were generally clean and mops and cloths are provided for you to clean up after yourself but there are always those that don't and kids don't generally bother anyway. At Easter weekend it was quite busy and dirt was being tracked in on the floors, as the walk up is dusty hard core this cant be avoided really.
Once Tuesday came the site cleared and was very peaceful - our kids had different holidays to the local area and I think there are a lot of seasonal pitches.
Good kids play area with nice equipment. The access roads are hard core so ok for bikes but not scooters. There is an area for football too with proper goals.
No facilities within walking distance of the site. There is a nice pub in Sherrif Hutton serving meals and others in Strensall a Chinese takeaway and Tesco express
The Monks Cross park and ride is fantastic - children are free with paying adult so it was £5. 40 for our family of 4 for all day parking and return bus ride. The buses are very frequent I don't think we ever waited even 5 minutes and the stops are very convenient in the city centre and all the attractions.
I would have no problem with visiting this site again.

Spent four nights here at Easter and had a great time. The site is well laid out and the pitches are a very good size. The people who ran the site were very friendly and very helpful and were always ready to help if there was a problem. The shop was small but had all the essentials. The toilets and showers where kept very clean and there was always hot water. I think there should be more toilets but I only had to wait once for the loo and it was not a long wait. I will use this site again and it's sister site, Golden Square where I went last year.

Just returned from a four day break. We were pitched next to a static which was up for sale and found this entire area like the forgotten corner. There was large drainage pipes protruding from the ground which were surrounded by large overgrown weeds. The area was covered in ants and was in desperate need of TLC.
Other than the above the site is as described by other reviews, however would I return again. Jury still out.

Just spent two weeks at this lovely site. The camp warden, Bob is lovely and nothing is too much trouble.
Pitches are huge, kids play equipment is brilliant, there are plenty of clean showers and toilets, there is a launderette and a microwave.
There is a small shop in the village itself and a Tesco Express in the next village along, although if you want a big shop you need to go into Monks Cross or Clifton Moor but they are not far away.
There is so much to do local to this site, we need to have another holiday there as we have loads that we didn't get to.
There is wifi on site and if you are on super pitch No 1 then you can use it from the comfort of your awning (as we did) but I think if you are any further away then you need to come and sit by reception.
Overall, this is a really brilliant site. It is clean and spacious with really friendly staff. I would definitely go back and would highly recommend it.
