Just returned from another fantastic stay at this site- Great little shop on site now offering the sorts of things you always forget along with the essentials for breakfast !
Fresh rolls and croissants dailly - what more could you wish.
Gone from 4 star to 5 star in my estimation for such a friendly well run site. Congratulations to Mark & Karen ( The Owners)Long may you continue.

This is an excellent, clean and well run site in a rural area in the purbeck Hills; friendly, quiet, 2 minutes walk from site to Harman' Cross station for Swanage railway links to Corfe and Swanage and 10 mins drive to beaches. The prices are very reasonable as well. The owners are helpful and run a well-stocked and reasonably priced shop which is open from 0800-2100. There is one and only one drawback- there are only 2 loos and 2 showers for women (with no plugs or hair dryer- OK in the heat but would not be great in the rin) and the same for men- and this means that at busy weekends and most other times there are queues at almost any time of the day- and especially in the mornings, and one (outside) washing up area. There is a dilemma for the owners- as they are only open for summer, the investment they would need to make for more facilities would severely impact margins; the solution would seem to be hire more- and I urge them to consider this option. This to us was the one and only drawback so we will consider a return soon, if the facilities were better it would be certain return. The 3/10 for facilities is for that reason and this has lowered the overall rating.

Brilliant campsite with very friendly and helpful owners.
We stayed 6 nights, could have stayed longer.
Great facilities, modern clean showers, never had to queue.
It is on a hill but there are plenty of flat pitches around the edge of the field.
Great park at entrance for children.
Small shop as well which is be useful.
Great views and lovely to see the steam trains go past.
Very reasonable prices as well, definitely one of the cheapest around swanage, also showers are free which is a bonus.

The owners of this site are very nice. We were given the choice of where we wanted to pitch. We selected an are at the bottom of the hill near where the steam railway trains could be seen through the hedge. They didn't make to much noise and was lovely to see.
This is a very clean and tidy site.
The facilities are modern portacabin toilets and showers.
The toilets and showers were kept nice and clean and the toilet rolls were changed before running out with the spares left in the toilets as well.
The showers were large head style and were free.
If you had any problems or comments the owners were pleased to help. We had no problems at all.
The reception was open late and the owners stayed in the area very late.
We went for a walk around the local area there is a lovely new village hall near the entrance to the site with a park/play area which is very good.
Swanage is a good area to visit. Lyme Regis is not far away and good for fossil hunting.
This is a campsite I would visit again if in the area. The owners work very hard to keep it nice.

Just returned from this campsite which we stayed at over August bank holiday! Great site, really like good old fashioned camping used to be! No hookups everywhere or being overcharged for sleeping in a field!
Were given a pick of space to camp, found a flat space in the mid part of the further field and was given lots of room around us which was nice! No marked out pitches or being confined to a set spot!
The owners were really welcoming and very friendly, kept the site lovely and clean even had a young man collecting rubbish every morning on a little vehicle brilliant touch!
Steam trains really not a problem running by the site they stop by 11, we loved watching them go past and being able to hop on one save worrying about parking in towns!
No hot water for washing up or ice block freezing facility, wasn't a problem for us but just worth noting in case it is!
Only downside really where the lack of toilets and showers, queued every morning, that said it was bank holiday and very busy, probably isn't usually a problem.
The showers that are there were lovely and hot every day.
Great site, hope to return!

We had a fantastic five night stay at Harmans Cross and will definitely return next year. The owners were very nice and helpful and always on hand if required.
The site is sloping but all of the sites appear to be sloping around this area. However there are plenty of places to pitch around the edge and it was not a problem for us. We pitched at the bottom of the field next to the steam railway, it was great watching the trains go by.
We have two children 5 & 14 and they loved it here and have also asked to return next year. The excellent public play area at the entrance was great for the little one and miles better than going to a commercial site with a so called 'play area' (a dodgy swing!) included.
Don't be put off by the facilities being in a portacabin as they are very modern and kept clean. The free showers were great and had plenty of room for me to take the little one in with me. We never had to queue and they were always hot and you didn't have to keep pressing a button to keep them on!
It is a shame they are only allowed to open for a limited period each year as it is a fantastic location and good value for money. We would highly recommend this site and will definitely be back!

My wife and I have just returned from a 3 night stay at Harmans cross. What a great site, very low key and friendly people running the reception.
Facilities were basic but clean, the showers were free and hot. The views were outstanding with steam trains passing every 40 mins or so £3. 00 per trip steam service stops about 18:30 and then an old diesel service until 10:30. What a joy to sit outside your tent with a glass of wine and wave at the trains as they pass.
On the entrance to the site is a really good playground with zip wire and complex climbing frames, swings etc, keeps the kids happy for hours.
The ground is good and although the site is mostly on a slope there are plenty of flat pitches, they are mostly around the edges but we found a flat pitch at the top middle of the field giving us a great view of the valley in both directions and the passing trains. Most people were pitched around the perimeter or directly next to the train line, although this is flat and sheltered I felt the view from higher ground was worth it.
This site is a real gem, this is the owners first full year and they are improving the site as they go. I would go now as this site will become very popular very quickly.

We found it very difficult to select a campsite in this area given the number of sites available. We were more than happy that we chose this site, we received a warm and friendly welcome on a lovely sunny Friday evening. £10 charge per night for two adults, car & tent, vary reasonable we thought.
Loads of space and although the fields are sloping there are plenty of flat pitches. The toilets and showers were very clean, there were only two toilets and two shower cubicles in the Ladies and same in the Mens. However we didn't have to queue even though the site was busy.
The Corfe Castle to Swanage railway(steam & Diesel)runs adjacent to the site, just a one minute walk to the station platform so we didn't need to use the car all weekend. Return to Swanage is £6. 00 adult and takes 10-15mins.
There is a large and well equipped playground at the entrance to the site next to the really smart & modern village hall.
This campsite is in a lovely location with beautiful countryside and great views of the Purbeck Hills. We will definitely return to this site next year for the excellent Swanage Regatta & Carnival.

We found this site by pure chance when it first started out. Mark, Karen and family are amazing people and they care about their site and its' visitors. We have been there 8 times this season and will not go anywhere else. They take constructive criticism in good faith and welcome suggestions. As of next year - you will be able to freeze your ice packs ! The site is a perfect place to get away from it all. Well kept and very well run. Nothing is too much trouble - If you have a problem - just talk to them - You will be pleasantly surprised with the response you get. And yes - there may only be two loos and showers for men and the same for women- but you are on holiday. Is it imperative what time you shower? Go at a different time of the day - there is always plenty of hot water day and night.
The proof of how fantastic this site is - the number of people who return to it. We should know - we are always visiting! Try It - you won't go anywhere else.

Three nights £60, a bit pricey but a friendly bloke running the gated site, 5 level hook-up pitches and the rest of the field on a slight slope.
Portable cabin with showers and WCs, locked so unable to comment. Outside sink for washing up.
Local SPA shop, garage and bus stop within easy walking distance.
Site next to platform 2 at Harmans Cross station, adult fare to Swanage £6 return.
Good views and plenty of steam activity for the enthusiast. Will definitely go back again, good access which has been enlarged rather than what you see on Google Street view.
Village Hall next to camp site, noisy disco on Saturday night but we were having a BBQ so didn't put us off. A playground for under 10s along side camp driveway, all equipment looked quite new with a zip slide.
